Liverpool vs. Porto: Champions League, 20:00 Wed 24th November 2021

I don’t understand the problem with Dijk being spelt wrong when there’s a player named Mini in the team. Particularly as there’s no Cooper.

Judging by his name he plays in the U10. :innocent:

I’m also fairly confident thats’s not how you spell the name of our Irish Goalkeeper.

However, I will take umbrage with anyone who argues that Dick Van Dyke is not a senior player.

Not to worry I even spell Gerard incorrectly on occassion. :innocent:

Robbo in place of Tsimikas.

Everyone was surprised at how quickly Robbo returned from that injury earlier in the season, and he hasn’t been at his best since. Given he has also had a small injury on international duty which Klopp put down to overplaying, I would be in favour of letting Tsimakas continue, particularly as he is playing well.

As of now, Robbo’s had a bad season and a half as per his usual standards. Not surprising considering he’s been playing continuously over the last few years

Since Tsimikas is the better LB (at this present moment) , I’d rest him and use Robbo to get some match practice against a decent opponent and more importantly some confidence back.

Worst case, Get Robbo off at 60 min and give Tsimikas a run in the last 30 min.

Robbo’s issue isn’t confidence , it’s more likely fitness related.

I would rest all players who play nearly every league match and were involved with their national teams in the last break, in particular Ali, TAA, VVD and Fab.

So I believe the lineup could look like this:

-----Kelleher-----
Neco-Matip-Konate-Tsimikas
–Ox–Morton–Thiago–
–Mane–Origi–Taki–

I think Kelleher deserves a game. I would even start Nat at CB but Jürgen will prefer some consistency there IMO, hence Matip. Thiago and Ox need to stay in rhytm, the former also held a press conference, so he will start. Sub Mane in 2nd half (maybe for Bradley and move Neco to RW) and give the returning trio of Robbo, Millie and Hendo some minutes.

Not arsed about the result but hope that youngsters and fringe players will play a good game.

I’d imagine that the club has budgeted what they expected to bring in on the group stages, and it won’t be six wins.

JK’s not got an easy decision to make here. Whatever team he picks will have some fans up in arms, either too strong or too weak. I trust him to make the right call. It’s the CL. It’s at Anfield so I don’t think the team will be as weak as some people are suggesting, but the schedule from now until the New Year is crazy. I’m thinking he’ll start relatively strong but make full use of the 5 subs option.

It would be good to see Atletico dumped out of this competition but Porto will have to earn their qualification. I don’t want us to do them any favours tonight. Momentum is important to us and we need to go on a winning run now.

Would play Tsimikas.

Unleash Robbo on the Toffees.

You can’t win with us fans, it’s how it is. Managers 80-90% of the time do it differently than what we would do on forums. It’s why we are on forums, and they’re in those jobs. Often, in a period of rotation, he would change half a team, but balanced and with thought behind it, not too much in one area of the side, etc. He might rotate similarly or a little bit heavier tonight. I’m fine with it (though let’s wait and see the XI), injuries happen, we can’t predict everything or wrap people in cotton wool. It doesn’t work like that, from multiple angles.

I’ve just received a notification that my broadband will be switched to the new service at 21:00 CET tonight. This may cause an outage of up to 30 minutes.

I think that means a quick first half hat-trick for us followed by passing the ball around to kill time for the rest of the game…

Might be able to watch this with any risk of buffering as a flat mate is away

Thanks! And for the record, I would never dare to take any credit for any of @cynicaloldgit 's posts :sunglasses:

BTW, I have been reading posts on TIA and TAN forums for a while, and now I finally decided to give my posting a go.

I am perfectly fine with Atletico advancing - if the standings hold, they can’t face LFC or Real, so there is a 50% chance they draw one of ManU, ManC, or Chelsea. It will be like sending them to the dentist twice.

I would feel bad if Lille or Ajax drew them.
