Losing the midriff "wobble" or the TAN diet/exercise thread

First injection last night - fairly simple.
No side affects as of yet. Took it before bed, had a pint of water and went a bed. Drinking loads of fluids today.

11am update - normally have a snack at 11 - no desire to have one today.

My mates the same - he has tried to give up smoking so many times and smokes when bored but also his diet is shocking. He isnt fat but I wonder what his insides look like. He is 40 and I am 50 - and he looks a lot older than me (ive never smoked).

I look young and healthy for my age and am slim.
Yet I’m a mess and little or none is due to smoking. We’re all different. Some put on weight easily others like me fight to put weight on.
I spent months on my back and lost 3kg which put me under weight just skin and bones.
I suffered Lyme Disease, am diabetic type 1, broke my back have a problem with my right knee. We just don’t know what life will bring what our life choices and genetics have install for us.
Weight problems I feel are similar to smoking it’s like an addiction. We crave something and get hooked. Our lifestyles are complicated and often boring which makes us vulnerable.
The 17 years I suffered Lyme Disease I felt older than I do now. At least I don’t suffer all those symptoms anymore :slightly_smiling_face:.

Thats mad to think laying with a broken back and you lost weight.
I put on weight if I dont move -thats why WFH started all this.
I was walking to station every day, walking to office, walking around office, popping out at lunch, walking back to station and then walking from station to home - to not moving.

Glad you feel better.

I essentially had to care for myself and couldn’t move. So I only had what was put within reaching distance.
It was the lack of exercise that caused the loss of weight. Muscles just wasted away.
As I have diabetes I have to watch what I eat and the situation played havoc with it.

So 4th day on these jabs…..

Day one to four – no side effects other than a permanently dry mouth so drinking loads of water every day and I’ve bought a packet of electrolytes to add to water once a day.

Food – day1

BF – 1 poached egg on 1 toast

Lunch – 4 slices of ham and salad.

Dinner – Steak and Mash with Green Beans.

Day 2

BF – 1 poached egg on 1 toast

Lunch – Chicken Breast (with homemade Sticky chilli sauce), Rice and stir fried peppers and onion

Dinner – Ham and Cheese Omelette

Day 3

BF – 1 poached egg on 1 toast

Lunch – BBQ – Had 1 Burger, 2 mini Kebabs and a Sausage.

Evening snack – Weetabix.

Don’t worry I’m not going to give you a daily run down for next 6 months!

But there’s no sacking in the above food – that seems to have gone. I have to remind myself to eat. On Sunday I had breakfast at 9am and nothing until BBQ at 3pm - no hunger pains or craving.

On Sat I was at daughters presentation – there were food vans and beer a plenty but I didn’t crave any of it – I’ll admit I really wanted a beer but as I said Id drive it was a bit easier but it’s the kind of thing where I could’ve sunk 8 pints in the near 5 hours we were there. My wife offered to drive but I want to give up beer for at least a month to get this started. I wont be having 8 pints when I do start again.

Yesterday I did BBQ for my dad and my son and my dad were sinking beers – but I didn’t.

Work is the real test – I’ve a boring job and we aren’t the busiest at the moment so I’m always thinking I’m hungry especially as I clock watch a lot. 11s was the first hurdle – its 11.15 as I type this. Not thought about it but even if I do its like my thoughts of food are just shut down.

I love a can of Diet Coke but its advised to stay off Fizzy drinks inc Diet (something to do with the sweeteners) so I’ve not had one since Thursday.

Today’s food will be…

BF – Banana and Apple (wouldn’t normally eat that but no idea what I fancied today and going into the office for the first time on these jabs has thrown me – I will be better prepared next time. The days I WFH will be easier.)

Lunch – BBQ leftovers – 2 kebabs, 1 sausage and a bit of chicken.

Dinner – Chicken Rice dish.

My mate has lost 1st 4Ibs in 4 weeks on these jabs – we are all different but Id be delighted with that.
I have to weigh myself once a week - so ill report back on Friday morning.

Any side effects have you experienced? Appreciate the updates

I’ve no side affects at all other than the dry mouth - drinking so much water but at least that’s good habit.

I followed some guys advice on YouTube and he suggested taking the Jab before bed - that way if you feel queezy or get a headache you can sleep it off.

The needle is tiny so if anyone has a phobia of needles you honestly don’t feel it go in. I wondered if I had done it correctly it was so painless and easy - but when I went to bed I started to feel a dull ache in my side so knew it was all good.

Day one I just put it down to mind over matter but no, this thing is unreal. For it to get to 11.43 and me not even think about having something at 11 is unthinkable - but I honestly dont anymore.

Do you lose fat equally over your whole body?

Personally I’m fine except the belly.

Well ive always been told you cannot target where weight comes off - i put on weight on face, chest, belly and back - my legs are always fine.
It will come off from somewhere!

Sorry if this has been discussed previously, but I was wondering about the difference between using an exercise bike and cycling in the real world. Is 10 km in the gym the same as 10 km on the road?
I’ve noticed I can do an average of 30kmh in the gym, but doubt that’s possible outdoors.
I cycle in the city and it’s pretty flat. Obviously I have to slow down for traffic and lights etc.

I find exceise bikes boring. What I love about going for a ride is looking at surroundings plus unexpected inclines and the reward of going down hill.

I guess a bike at home is better for knees and joints and you can stay dry if its pissing down outside!

An exercise bike is probably easier to manipulate so that it produces the stimulus you want from a training ride or exercise session, but I would not try to equate it to a road session in terms of calories, distance etc because the readings you get from gym equipment on that stuff is typically pretty wide of the mark. If you’re using the same piece consistently it can be good enough to assess your change over time, but comparing the read out from different pieces of equipment is rarely useful.

My bike is my primary form of transport. I use it for getting around the city, visiting friends etc.
There’s not much opportunity for sightseeing as I live here and know all the sights, and need to be vigilant for traffic etc. I love it for the convenience and flexibility and Berlin is a very cycling friendly city with plenty of bike lanes etc.
I like the discipline of going to the gym and doing my kilometres there and, with a decent podcast, it’s not at all boring.

@Walshy07 have you been weighing yourself daily since you took it, if so hows it progressing so far ?

Also how long do you have to take the injections ? Read somewhere it can be up to 2 years? If you lost say 4 stone in 4 months, why would you need to stay on it for longer ?

No I haven’t weighed myself yet. I’m meant to do it once a week at the same time on the same day. So ill report my weight on Friday morning around 8am.

I think you can take them as long as you want them.
I want to lose 3 stone - if I do that ill come off and see what happens.

Keep in mind that this first measurement is going to be affected by a significant reduction in the mass of food you are carrying around in the process of digesting. It is an underappreciated factor in the early weight loss of a diet. Its going to be a lot more stable between the end of your second week and end of your first week, than it will have been during this first week on the regimen so keep that in mind as you see your first results and a likely lessened effect after week 2

I was given a rude awakening transitioning from a Winter on a treadmill to running outside. They are a world apart. I would imagine a bike would be similar.

I’m actually considering getting my old road bike back on the road or a second hand one. I prefer cycling to running, always have but running is great from a time perspective. I could use it to commute to work, even though theres some big hills in both directions.

Not sure I want to go down the cycle to work route and blow a good chunk of money on one yet. Better to get a functional beater for now. Miles in the legs and a few pounds off needed first.

How hilly is it? I know you’re in Wales, so it could get steep, but a bike doesn’t have to be expensive. Mine’s a ten speed touring bike, nothing fancy at all, but it does everything I need and I bought it 18 years ago for about 200 euros second hand.

My experience with weight loss is that it’s counter productive to weigh yourself on a daily basis. Weekly basis should be fine.
