Luis DIAZ: 2023/24

To be honest they’ve been linked with about 7 winger come strikers.

When Mbappe leaves, as things stand, PSG will still have Dembele, Asensio, Barcola, Simons, Ramos, Kolo Muani as forwards on their books.

The only person who would want to go to PSG is @Flobs and I’m fine letting him go on a free.

No way man, we can’t afford to lose @Flobs on a free. We’d need a high quality replacement from PSG or at least someone who can post off the wall stuff and has the skills to irritate and do so consistently and in the big threads.

So you mentionned me in this thread to get a reaction did you?

Just so you know I don’t particularly like PSG so follow my son’s favorite French team L’OM (as we all do in the south east of France other than some real wierdos).
Someone would have to pay me to go to Paris!

How much?

To be fair I’m a bit of a slacker since quite a while, there’s threads that evolve so fast I give up. The threads I follow are few these days and I don’t debate (I am right!). It is nice to know I’m not the only irritated person on here. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You’re lucky to be dealing with @Flobs who could be reasonable.

Personally, there is not enough money in the world that could convince me to ever return to the public toilet bowl of Europe that is Paris

A good few Baguettes and the occasional bowl of Blanquet de Veau to dip them in at least!

You got me thinking, I’d love to see if there are any stats about the distribution of his goals in terms of how many of them were openers, equalisers or winners. I always had the impression that he was the one who made things happen and who would atone for his misses more often than not. I’m honestly not getting that feeling with Diaz after his injury at Arsenal - it’s subjective, of course, but I genuinely don’t have any faith in his finishing (or general finishing of our forwards not named Jota).

Funnily enough, there’s talk about Barcelona and PSG being interested in signing Diaz. If that was Mane at the equivalent point of his career at Liverpool, you’d have to sedate me so I could deal with such news.

With Diaz, I can’t say that I’m indifferent but rather pragmatic. Of course, the best thing happening would be that Klopp’s successor gets him to consistently play the very best football of his career, better than before his injury, that is always my preferred option. However, if club decide to sell him in order to get a better/more suitable player, I’d have no issues with that.

I wonder how much of this is precisely because we have decent alternatives now, but didn’t back then with Mané.

Yeah, when he got injured against Everton in his first season here, I thought that our season was over because he was the only proper winger we had, especially in terms of pace. That we qualified for CL without him then is one of Klopp’s underrated achievements.

Also, I believe that if Jota wasn’t so susceptible to injuries, Diaz would have his starting spot under serious threat. Two completely different players, admittedly, but our attack seems more fluid with Jota and Nunez exchanging positions and Salah being Salah on the right.

A friend just moved to Paris with his wife, toddler and Irish fucking wolfhound. Talk about coming down in the world viz accommodation - sure they are close to the action in the 7th arr but they are crammed in an 80m2 apartment with a tiny balcony. Poor guy is newly primary carer for toddler and said dog while his (french) wife swans about with some plum job. At least he’s fluent and has lived there before so knows what he’s getting into(!?) - although apparently Parisians pay out his accent and pretend not to understand him - but I think it would all get old v quickly…

It’s appalling how off track some threads get, but I have to say the problem is the dog.

The problem is never the dog

:dog:

Seems he has reported for international duty.

Hope that means the groin was nothing.

A common complaint

He’s been having issues with it for weeks, but still able to play the next game and put in a big shift…albeit then look labored by the end. I worry it is the sort of thing that showing admirable strength to play his way through now will drive him deep into a hole where once it starts limiting his ability to play it will take a long time to get back to normal

Nice assist in Colombia’s win over Spain.
