But if he were coming here to replace konate in our first eleven, I don’t think there would be much competition.
Despite Chelsea having 6 fit CBs I see they have said they want another.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Guehi ends up there. If we really wanted him why would we be allowing him to play games for Palace in case he gets injured?
We have no control over whether he plays or not whilst he’s still at Palace.
He doesn’t want to sign a new deal. Palace have said they can’t afford to let him go for nothing. All this is just brinkmanship. They want to get the maximum they can for him, we want to pay a fee that reflects his contract position.
It’ll get done but late on. I mean Palace are pretty much inviting bids at this point but we’re the only ones that seem to have actually spoken to Palace.
He plays for them; in what world do we allow him to do anything?
Guehi has already made it clear he’s comfortable to see out his contract playing for Palace before moving on if Palace decide to keep him, or will move on if Palace decide they like an offer they recieve for him. He is professional enough to keep earning his wage from the club he plays for, and has enough respect for Palace not to kick up a fuss. Personally prefer Guehi’s approach to his transfer over going on strike or stringing along the club before fucking off on a free. There is no confusion or misdirection. Everything is in the open. He has left it up to Palace to decide if they want a year of playing from him, or money for him. Palace seem to want the money so it’s on us to strike a fair deal.
I agree but I suppose @Walshy07 (aka Bayern ITK) is contrasting how Arsenal have ‘asked’ that Eze be left out pending a move. It seems like we really want to save a few mil by running this close to the close of the window.
Difference being that a fee has been agreed and a medical scheduled. If we’d reached the same stage I’d see the point of him not playing, but until then we have no say in anything that happens between Guehi and Palace.
Agree vis a vis the approach to a fee. Understand the need to not overpay, but 35-40 for player of Guehi’s quality is a very good price.
To all posters: let’s give it a rest with these stupid provocations, gags and gifs please, and stay a bit on topic for once. Thanks.
I assume if they do sell him now he walks…Odd quote, ultimately it will be the owners decision and he has made it clear that it is possible.
I think he will come, but late in the window. Palace will get some real use out of him in the Prem, and also in helping them to advance in Europe.
They won’t get 50M, if that’s what they are hoping for. I suspect it will start to get nice and clear for them as the window is closing. 35M now (arguably with 5M add-ons - I struggle to see us going higher than 40M total) OR risk losing him for free next summer.
The fact that there does not appear to be substantive talks with other clubs probably indicates Guehi wants us and we want him, and until it is done, we will all be professional about it.
I don’t like managers like this, and I suspect there will be a falling out sooner or later.
Yes I understand his frustration, but its not just about him and at some point you have to take other interests into consideration. From the reporting it took Eze calling in sick for him to be left out of the ECL game. Its not right to risk a player’s career in that manner…
The club has to deal with the realities of the situation, which is what Parrish is trying to do…
Glasner is understandably pissed at the prospect of losing his best player and his captain, with no time to get suitable replacements. Wouldn’t be surprised if he left for another club when the annual mid-season sackings take place. He’s a good coach
I understand that part, but keep it behind closed doors…And don’t jeopardize the careers of players…His public criticism, which he claims its not, is not very wise…
I know it’s silly but I do think the fact he keeps forcefully stating they will play (then one doesn’t) the thing last Sunday is probably intriguing. But I am with him on this until a club puts down a bid agreed then he probably should be playing. However that’s up to us and Parrish to agree that. Evidently Eze doesn’t need a replacement for them to listen to offers so Guehi is probably thinking why me?
If this is in relation to the interview above @Livvy posted, he doesn’t strike me as being pissed. It also appears his comments on timings are more to do with just the Conference second leg rather than the league season.
Eze has a release clause does he not that Arsenal have met.
Not a lot Palace can do.
Ah I wasn’t aware… not sure why he had to phone in sick then?
Nope the release clause expired in July this is a straight forward transfer.
After been so free with money early in the window this hang up on 5m seems strange.
I think we try to be careful with every penny we spend. Even though we had some big deals early on in the window, we negotiated all the prices downward until it was more acceptable to us.
If it is a 5M difference as we think, I hear what you are saying, that in the grand scheme of things it’s not that much. But on the other hand, maybe Hughes, if he knows he has his man, is thinking, “Might as well wait another couple of weeks and save 5M, but if anything changes in the meantime we are ready to move at the drop of a hat.”
Isn’t that the amount, near enough to what you get for winning a CL game?
Believe someone posted earlier in the thread that the money for qualifying for the conference league is 3.something so from Palaces pov to drop 5 off from Guehi and sell him before qualifying potentially losing another 3+ adds up to an 8 million gap we need to sort if we want him before their second leg
