Marc Guehi (CB) Crystal Palace

Weord that they went for Igor as his replacement. I know they wanted a left footed CB but Igor has been pretty much a disaster everytime he has played for Brighton

If anything, that attitude by Guehi towards his current club shows his priorities. He can always get a move at the end of the season (with a much bigger signing on fee etc). It’s not just about the money. He’s willing to see his contract out to the letter. And he’s not downed tools.

Imagine their owner and supporters if for example Leverkusen make an approach for Glasner during the international break and he decides to leave, could make the Newcastle fans look positively restrained

Sorry? Am I living in a parallel universe?

We have to see how he reacts now after they have pulled the plug.

Damned nonsense…in January there will be other “important reasons” why Marc absolutely has to stay, etc. I can’t see that happening as long as Glasner is there.

At least Guehi will be free to discuss a summer Bosman transfer from January.

Glasner won’t find himself very popular if he stops a mid table club from getting a sizable transfer fee. Either in Palace or in his next job. He might be an ace manager and a tactician, but a small victory here doesn’t mean he’s going to win anything big later.

Acceptance of the offer was confirmed today, but the offer going in was reported prior to today

On the contrary he got exactly what he deserved. I wish him Goodluck

No point locking it by the sounds of it

It’s a shame. We just have to hope JoGo stays fit.

Not with us, he won’t

Damn, is that just for overseas?

Yeah isn’t it March or something for home players.

Sad to miss out on him, but Glasner is incredibly important to Palace - and it’s arguably their most important season given they have a decent chance in Europe.

CPFC should have found suitable replacements, and it’s ridiculous that they haven’t.

That said, to say we won’t go back in Jan out of some sort of fury is ridiculous. I think we go back in Jan and get him and Wharton.

We can’t think only from one perspective here, very narrowly.

Palace have their situation also, they’ve had a questionable European status this summer, a few deals falling through, a Charity Shield to focus on, etc. A few factors led to this outcome.

There is the business side and the football side. Fact is they would be incredibly weak and thin at CB if the Guehi deal went through. Questionable if they were able to bring in a proper replacement.

It’s not the first nor the last deal that will fall through at the last minute.

Haven’t really been keeping tabs on why this fell through or much else on deadline day but tbh I’m very calm about the whole thing and relieved the window is now closed, my preference was always for Guehi to come in on a free before all this and now that Leoni’s arrived, I’m just chomping at the bit to see him and Guehi not signing probably means we see more of the young stud.

I mean we’ve had a fabulous summer regardless anyway, the cherry on top would be a contract announcement for Ibou.

Yes, he can agree a pre contract with a team outside Palaces association.

However, it’s more of an administrative thing. Guehi will be aware of what he’ll get from us, he just won’t be able to sign.

However, there’s absolutely no point in discussing things to death that we can’t change. Perhaps we can pause this thread for now until the topic becomes relevant again at some point.
