Taken in isolation yeah this window they had no real issue agreeing a fee, still took until the last week of the window, but those pursuits started last season. Palace said no despite a bunch of bids for him because they let Olise go.
Judging by his latest performances, I think his behaviour has been exemplary and will continue to be until the transfer is sorted. Like others have said, it doesn’t look like a luxury or even an opportunistic transfer but one that was made after a period of deliberation.
While I’m massively disappointed about missing out on him, it makes me want Liverpool to sign him even more. His conduct was impeccable, he put in some excellent performances while his future was being decided, never kicked up a fuss. He seems to have proper mentality for this club.
He’s clearly desperate for Liverpool. And why not? We’re building a dynasty. There’s more chance of us changing our mind (if a better option comes up) that Guehi changing his
Wondering why, if we were entertaining offers for Gomez, Palace wouldn’t see him as an option. Even as a loan with us possibly covering some of his wages if needs be.
They didn’t want to let Guehi go without a replacement. We wouldn’t let Gomez go without securing Guehi. Could have suited all parties.
Yeah, it’s a bit baffling really. Unless after scaring Igor off by saying he wouldn’t play him, Glasner vetoed the idea just as a way of keeping Guehi.
I feel so sorry for him. He went all that way to Liverpool, had his medical and made the video and then he gets shafted and dragged back to Crystal Palace. They shouldn’t have sent him there if the deal was never going to go through. Why do it to Guehi
Isak kicked up a fuss and went all moody and AWOL and got his move.
It took until the third game of the season for Eze to make his first appearance, and that off the bench because he hadn’t been with the team long enough to be in contention to start. And he was ushered in that quickly after the deal went through because they needed him - they had a gap they needed to fill. We seemingly dont think we do.
Oh today, well that’s alright then. It’s been left too late and thats all there is to it. That was made very clear from Glasner after the Villa game.
& clearly they can afford to, they’ve done so in the past with Zaha. Rejected £40m when he had a year left, they rejected bids of £65/70m for Guehi from Newcastle/Spurs less than a year ago and they’ve just lost out on more from being disqualified from the EL, so explain how in what world “they can’t afford to lose him on a free”
So what now since they’re likely to lose him on a free? Where does that leave the whole “can’t afford” situation, just vanishes?
If they reaaaaaally “couldn’t afford” to lose him on a free….like really couldn’t, he’d have been sold no ifs or buts about it, at least that’s how I interpret the term.
