Marc Guehi (CB) Crystal Palace

I’m not understanding what this has to do with Spurs and a much lesser extent not waiting weeks upon weeks to conclude the deal.

A point which has been missed is the Slot quote on Gomez yesterday. He said with him having a fullish fit squad he only had one bench spot left and went with Gomez over Leoni. A Gomez many think is passed it but is better option on the bench.

Then didn’t so what point are you making.

I don’t think a straight swop for Joe was the best way to thank him for his service… As in, " we have found someone better to take your place Joe so we are going to swop you out with him. Off you pop then..!"
Besides it trampling his dignity in this manner, we owe the guy a lot more respect than doing it in this sort of ‘Fuck Off’ way…
Let him win a medal or two this season, let him score for us, then the circle is complete… let him make his own choices for next season.

A Palace page on reddit is claiming from sources in the club have stated the intention was only ever to sell Eze or Guehi that’s what Glazner agreed too.

Maybe we’ve agreed to pay them 10-15m in January, wouldn’t be on a free then.

Clearly owner and manager feel differently.

Perhaps Parish has bent to Glaser’s will but made it clear that’ll impact what will be available for business next summer.

Could be that the Eze deal gave some breathing room they didn’t have when he said it.

Maybe it happens in January for a smaller fee and that’s the compromise they’ve reached internally.

We’ll never really know but you don’t say that and then agree to sell him if there aren’t some financial implications of him possibly going on a free.

Gomez didn’t have a medical at Milan.
No comparison there.

More bollox
If so, why did Guehi have a medical. If its Eze or Guehi a hands off would be delivered, not a deal made.

Yeah you don’t get to the point of submitting a transfer deal sheet.

Possibly its why it appears the gaffer was stamping his feet like a kid because this wasn’t the agreement. It looks like he sabotaged the deal himself. Then to top it calls Parish bluff me or him. Certainly looks like more was happening on the Palace side than we were ever know.

You could if Palace themselves were still having internal conflicts in the background. Parish seems to have folded and its him who was for the deal.

That’d be fine but even that would still be dependant on Palace bringing in a CB or 2 Glasner’s happy with but what I can’t wrap my head around is if we were willing to let Gomez leave once Guehi was confirmed…why refuse adding him as part of the deal to bring Guehi in if a loan deal is what they wanted?

& it still doesn’t make sense to what end Guehi would be “unaffordable to lose on a free” if we’re letting manager’s you employ decide who stays or goes based on offers received. There must be some serious consequences as a result now…let’s see.

If that Man Utd job comes up, Glasner won’t be an issue.

One way or other, Palace pulled the deal. They fucked their captain over, they fucked Liverpool over.
If Parish capitulated to the manager, its still Palace’s responsibility.
I sincerely hope we don’t buy him in January, and sign him on a free in the summer.

Because Glaser didn’t want Joe Gomez?
Maybe it’s that simple.

If the player is set on playing for us something will be done in January. I have no doubt. I do expect Guehi’s relationship with Glasner to be frosty anyhow.

What was it 35m, half that and a bit more off for wasting our guys time going down there. Yeah 15m

Guehi doesn’t seem to me like a character who will be problematic until January or next summer. The rest is impossible to know from the outside. But I think he’s a professional and nothing weird will be seen in the public on the pitch.

I don’t see it as a big deal or shock that Palace decided not to accept the offer, given their circumstances. It’s not about them f*cking anyone, it’s every side trying their best to do what they think is best for them.

As we do all the time, very simple.

You interpret it like that because you are literally desperate to talk down the club, and the people running it. Like that Jack lad, who’ll be along in a minute. You think you know better than the people who do this professionally, and who do so very professionally.

The fee was obviously agreed with Palace ages ago. Parish was happy to send the lad to do a medical. He filmed a goodbye video for fucks sake. Everyone thought this was happening.

The reason it went late, was that on the surface of it Palace wanted to sign a replacement, but it now seems obvious the biggest barrier to that was actually Glasner.

That’s obviously bollocks. They wouldn’t have let the player think the move was happening to the point of him doing a medical and making videos. It would be incredibly cruel and damaging to the club.

I’m just wondering though, when we’re undefeated on 1 January and 16 points clear of second, will we really need another CB?
