I believe Glasner will see out the season unless someone comes with a really large compensation package. And this is probably the best scenario for Palace right now.
Yes, Parish would have loved to sell Guehi and reinvest those funds. But 35M wasn’t really going to help them as much as retaining their manager 3 games into the season. Palace just don’t have the drawing power that would make another good manager quit part way through the season and join them.
Without Guehi and Eze and without a good manager, I would fear for them.
We might not like it, but I think Palace made the right decision for themselves.
You’re the one with the great suggestions.
Like 30 minutes into the Newcastle match…saying the right back experiment was over for Szoboszlai. That served you well.
Like swapping Joe Gomez as if he was a Panini sticker in a schoolyard?
In our defense, most of us were happy just drinking your booze and checking out your nudie mag collection.
It was @PeachesEnRegalia that insisted on rummaging through your locked cupboard and found your fury tailed latex suit and ballgag, so if anyone is to blame, it’s him
Why are you talking as if Glasner was in control of that situation? Parish went over Glasner’s head yesterday arvi by allowing Guehi to have a medical for us, and it was only through WHU hijacking CP’s target that the deal fell through.
I personally don’t have any ill will to Glasner or Parish. It’s Glasner’s head on the block if a key pillar of his team is sold and they go on to fail because of it. And likewise, Parish understands the cost of losing a high value player on a bosman. It’s fair for both to fight and defend their corner.
Faced with losing the player on a free in less than 12months, if weighed up against the cost of paying out for a like for like replacement, alternatively, CP could now offer Guehi a humongous contract to stay at the club beyond next season…
If the Glasner/Parish situation is not resolved in January when we can actually hand over some monies for the player, we may never see him in a red shirt, which could mean we have to push the shopping trolley down the CB aisle again.
It’s possible another club might be in for him in the winter window as well, especially knowing his price will be slashed even further. We’ve got to hope that we are the most attractive proposition… Which we probably will be.
As for Guehi, it would be highly unusual for him to sign a contract extension when he’s clearly trying to leave and he’s so close to being able to fully control his density.
I don’t think it is purely just about the money…CP with all due respect is Europa level and might not even win it. LFC on the other hand is always in serious contention for winning both the PL title and/or the UCL if the UCL draws are favourable to LFC.
