Marc Guehi (CB) Crystal Palace

Didn’t West Ham not get igor either as he failed a medical?

Yeah that would be a purely bitter, cuntish thing to do if true. Wasn’t he hard to work with at Wolfsburg?

I think he has gone to West Ham.

Guehi was devastated and his family was there after the medical and holding a Liverpool shirt very sad for him as he conducted himself respectfully towards his boyhood club but he will be determined now to control his destiny in January. I predict he will do his job until then and he will not burst a gut to score a goal like he did in his last PL game.

Ah ok sorry.

Guehi might well be in rights to terminate his contract.

Hope it doesn’t go this way though.

Zinne , indykaila broke this first.

I’m just not sure what to make of that.

I would have had a lot more sympathy for Glasner had he not killed the Igor signing on arrival. To me, that seems to be a calculated move to be able to go back to Parish and say ‘you promised we’d have a replacement before letting him go’, alongside the ultimatum.

That’s a really shithouse thing to do when the lad is on the verge of his dream move.

Don’t worry, I’ve reached a level of acceptance that somehow - possibly involving eldritch magicks - IndyKaila has somehow managed to will himself into being an actual ITK with decent sources, much like Romano did lol.

This is a really important point. Transfer dealings can look very different for a club that doesn’t have a gap that needs to be filled compared to what the vast majority of other clubs are forced to do. Given Slot’s comments about already having enough CBs to leave Leoni out of the match day squad entirely, it appears our attitude towards Guehi was as someone we want at the club eventually as part of our next evolution of the side, but it doesn’t need to be done now.

I don’t the think he will do anything he made it clear he hates the limelight my guess he will get on with his job until January quietly.

Blood is in the water now for Palace, with Guehi unhappy and apparently some interest in Spain, Germany, and Italy. He can sign a pre-contract in less than four months, and Palace has just shown him there is no return on his professional conduct. Best case now for Palace is he leaves in January for less than what they turned down yesterday.

Winning the UECL is not worth that much.

For the 2024–25 season, League Phase participation in the Conference League was awarded a base fee of €3,170,000. A victory in the group pays €400,000 and a draw €133,000. Teams which placed in the top 8 of the League Phase earned €400,000 and progressed automatically to the Round of 16. Teams which placed between 9th and 24th qualified for the knockout round play-offs and earned €200,000. Reaching the knock-out stage triggered additional bonuses: €800,000 for the round of 16, €1,300,000 for the quarter-finals and €2,500,000 for the semi-finals. The losing finalists received €4,000,000 and the champions received €7,000,000.[21]

Add to that, it guarantees qualification for the EL next season which is not that huge an amount

Similar to the UEFA Champions League, the prize money received by the clubs is divided into fixed payments based on participation and results, and variable amounts that depend of the value of their TV market.[71]

For the 2021–22 season, group stage participation in the Europa League awarded a base fee of €3,630,000. A victory in the group pays €630,000 and a draw €210,000. Each group winner earns €1,100,000 and each runner-up €550,000. Reaching the knock-out stage triggered additional bonuses: €500,000 for the round of 32, €1,200,000 for the round of 16, €1,800,000 for the quarter-finals and €2,800,000 for the semi-finals. The losing finalists received €4,600,000 and the champions received €8,600,000.[72]

  • Qualified to group stage: €3,630,000
  • Match won in group stage: €630,000
  • Match drawn in group stage: €210,000
  • 1st in group stage: €1,100,000
  • 2nd in group stage: €550,000
  • Knockout round play-offs: €500,000
  • Round of 16: €1,200,000
  • Quarter-finals: €1,800,000
  • Semi-finals: €2,800,000
  • Runners-up: €4,600,000
  • Winners: €8,600,000

So winning both back-2-back would only be worth €16M, so still a far drop from the £35M they could have had in their pockets yesterday. Yes winning those competitions would open up other potential income in new sponsorship and investment deals, but would they make up that £20M difference?

I’d expect some agreement for Liverpool to sign him for 20m or even slightly less than that in January.

A) if they managed a back to back that’d put them in the cl and bring in even more money

B) much better marketing and sponsorship deals come from being in Europe, if they can turn that into a recurring thing then they’ll increase their income via other means

C) a trophy is worth a hell of a lot to any club, an underwhelming league season with a conference league win would be a better season for palace than a good league season and no trophy. Sell a player cheap and win nothing, or lose him on a free but win something? Remind me what we chose when Madrid offered a paltry 25m for Trent last summer

Isn’t this what Indykalia said which I think is questionable at best.

Joyce. Guehi will reject any contact offer from Palace

Looks like Guehi is earning 50k a week. Amounts to 2.4m a year.

Anything stopping him from breaking that contract ?

Why? Hes contracted to CP, do we really want to be having another player that breaks a contract? They did what they did for whatever reason , just accept it and stop looking to post a hundred posts about hoping he goes on strike.

Its done he’ll either be here in january or next summer or not.
