Who would have thought there would be exactly 67.22 million unique users posting their disgust and outrage on Twitter?

I’m happy to wait to see what comes of the appeal

Right before Latifi crashed Horner was being interviewed and he conceded that Hamilton was just too quick for them today. He knew they’d been beaten fair and square. Everyone knew.

Then comes that abomination. Sport was the massive loser today.

Mercedes’ barrister in the meeting with FIA. Might be a bit of a wait; for what I feel will end up with no changes and maybe even Mercedes taking other legal action against the FIA.

I never thought Massi could come up with a bigger cock up after the Spa race but this is a whole new level of ineptitude you can see why people think its corruptness.

I had it recorded and started about an hour or so behind. Just finished, and it is so unsatisfying.

Hamilton was brilliant today and he has been cheated out of it. Verstappen is a very good driver, but today he was second best all day long.

So much money at stake. So much prestige. So much influence over the world of Motorsport. This is the pinnacle in every way.

Except for the bumbling village idiot running the show. Amateur is too kind.

The constructors championship is the Real money maker. But yes overall, its rather deflating the outcome.

I’d be less bothered if Max was faster today and won it fair and square on track.

Yep, Hamilton faster today, all day long. He was the better driver.

It was all over, but then the powers that be intervened and we had a farce ending.

If it stands, it’s a disgrace. If it is legally overturned, it is better but it is also unsatisfactory, as that tarnishes Hamilton’s day as well, as he won it fairly, squarely, on that track… not in the courtroom.

I wouldn’t be bothered at all. That would have been fair.

This runs counter to everything that ought to be sacred about sporting integrity.

Merc had so many chances to get fresher tires, especially earlier with the VSC, and with the top speed that Hamster had, he would have passed Verstappen with no issue even if he came out losing track position. Merc only has itself to blame in this case.

Can’t stand the crying over the radio from Merc and RB.

Max could go either way, even worse and more aggressive after winning the DC (provisional at this moment), or mallow a bit and become a better and less dangerous driver.

Masi is useless as a race director.

Let them settle it in a 10 lap shootout in identically prepared Tesla Model S’s. Prepare the sport for its sustainable future.

The decision made by the race controllers, was on a par with any of the terrible decisions made by Premier League referees over the years and, as we all know there’s been some howlers. Hamilton was robbed of the title.

Do it to see who can run it most economically. Loser is first out of battery.

You lot pissing and moaning…Big Virg wants a quiet word…

It begs the question, why didn’t Hamilton get called in for fresh tires when Mercedes saw Red Bull doing it?

Putting aside the fuck up from the FIA, Hamilton should have gone in for fresh tires when the safety car was out, that would have then put them both on new tires and the Merc has been far quicker the last handful of races so a 1 lap shoot out would have been to their advatage

But srsly…

I reckon the funniest thing today will end up being the mental gymnastics the FIA deploys.

Virg is allowed to be happy as a Dutch man. The whole country has apparently gone nuts for Verstappen. It’s a lovely thing as interest has been rekindled and then some.

However…

This was wrong and Hamilton was cheated out of it today. Not by Verstappen or Red Bull. But by the FIA.

Not fit for purpose. If I was Mercedes I would exit F1. Far too much investment only to be undone by bungling amateurs running the show, unable to apply their own rules. Farce.

Something to note is that Verstappen was able to have two extra pit stops than Hamilton and still be running second only because Bottas is so unbelievably shit.

Yep, that’s another subplot to today. Hamilton got no help whatsoever from his partner. Bottas needed to be in there, influencing the front runners and trying to get in between Hamilton and the Red Bulls. He was miles off the pace.

Don’t know if losing the drive and knowing you are finished there made the difference? I don’t know what sort of bonus structure is in place, but hopefully Bottas lost a lot of money for his lackadaisical approach.

Racing fans often moan about racing ends with yellow flags. This time, a controversial decision, but we get to see a race properly ended with 2 drivers duking it out. I have no issue with the final decision. Likely if it were Hamster with fresh tires behind Verstappen in the same situation and lap cars were moved out of the way between the 2 protagonists, I have an inkling that the British racing fans would be saying fair and square. I would hate the outcome equally, but I would get to watch racing.

Edit: Oh, by the way, Latife will not be invited to Hamster’s Christmas party this year.

I think this was answered in the race, and he would have lost track position, so he stayed out to finish the job.

He was winning the race, comfortably. It was almost over.
It could have finished under the safety car, and he’d have won at a canter.

OR

The rules could have been applied and all cars allowed to unlap themselves, and Hamilton would have won the race at a canter again, likely, as the chasing Verstappen would have had no time to catch up and overtake.

OR, which is what happened instead,

Some cars were allowed to unlap, against the rules, putting Verstappen right on Hamilton’s tail, and it was then at that point a mismatch, as Hamilton was dead in the water on old tires.

Hamilton was cheated out of it.
