We did not see the race end properly with two drivers duking it out. We saw the rules ignored, and one guy handed a massive advantage to another driver, who, despite being faster all day long, was rendered dead in the water on the final lap. Hamilton was cheated out of that and did not lose it to racing. He lost to the FIA ignoring its own rules. Shitshow.
Don’t let your dislike of Hamilton get in the way FIA have now directly influenced the result of 2 races with no logical reason for the decisions.
As I already stated, Merc has themselves to blame for not pitting Hamster during the VSC. Hamster questioned the strategist decision (not the first time TBH). If they had done so, RB would unlikely to gamble with another pit stop during the safety car. Hamster had a much faster car, he would have no issue to pass Max to regain any possible position loss (which was unlikely at that time, he was leading by a freaking mile, and would come out ahead anyways.
It’s correct that I had a bias against Hamster (really since the mess with Alonso, and also that he fired his dad as his manager earlier…I think that his dad is now managing his career now away though), but I really cannot stand RB Racing and Max neither. So, I have no issue with the race being settled on track(s).
F1 became a farce a long time ago. I am watching it only for entertainment purpose, and I had my fill of entertainment today. I have since moved onto watching Moto3 / Moto2 and Moto GP. For car racing, I much prefer closed wheels racing, as the drives can rub panels against each other.
Wasn’t he already past the pit lane? They were also receiving mixed information about what scenario was going to unfold, it was incredibly easy for Red Bull to take that risk and have one last roll of the dice from the position they were in, Max had nothing to lose.
Latifi right now…
I think he is probably more like
Probably the same sentiment as Timo Glock in Brazil. (Sky F1 did have a good interview this season with Timo and Felipe together. To both of them, it was water under the bridge.)
Anyone reckon Red Bull should be offered a choice between sharing the drivers’ title or having the result declared as the running order of the lap immediately before Latifi crashed?
Any second now…
Losing track position and likely the race. As it transpires, following the VSC, there was a full SC, but you can’t guess that and lose track advantage. If RB were out front they wouldn’t have come in either.
They could also scrap the result of the race and have the championship decided on who led after the last race.
I’m actually waiting for agent Rafa’s press conference.
How difficult, out of ten and taking into account the tyres, was the last-lap overtake??
Just saw a replay and it looked pretty clean to me. Hamilton came back at him but didn’t quite have the pace to make it stick.
This is more tense than that time I asked my non-pregnant colleague when she was due.
Piece of piss. I’m amazed Hamilton managed to make it as hard as he did.
Max remains champion.
Court of Arbitration for Sport it is then.
