Post match: Arsenal v Liverpool (EPL 9/10/22 4.30pm)

Technically, the whistle indicates the pen should be taken. But in practice it’s accepted for players to mess around (like a tfree kicks/corners, to adjust the ball).

Just saw the penalty incident due to the cunt stream cutting out for minutes at a time and it is soft and Jesus does make the most of it. But we’ve seen them given and if the roles were reversed, we would have wanted it too. What Oliver really fucked up is the ball to the arm from the first half which was in our favour and those are also given and at a higher rate. So fuck off Oliver. The last thing we needed was to get shafted by the usual ineptness of a referree that came to compound our own at the back. Because ultimately that’s what it came down to.

There is life in the attack. Mainly thanks to a small group consisting of Firmino, Diaz, Jota and Nunez. At the back though we are a tragedy. The worst we ever been under Klopp by some distance. It’s not just the inability to cover runners from the midfield, to press the ball or to play the offside trap effectively. It’s not even the stupid mistakes, the complete and total inability to win one vs ones, any of the 50-50s or to just punt the fucking thing away from the danger are. It’s all of the above. We are doing everything wrong. Every fucking thing. The only teams we’ve looked good against have been the timid ones who didn’t challenge us. Every team that has attacked, pressed and hurried us, has been amply rewarded. City next week will probably incur a Napoli like scoreline.

We are 8 games in and there doesn’t appear any hope for a turnaround. Unless a miracle occurs in the Champions League, we won’t even come close to qualify for it for the next season.

I can’t believe this is happening to us, we are cursed!!

But we would have wanted. But we’d never get it. Salah would be tainted again with diver comments.

Partey challenge on Diaz wasn’t even a free kick according to Oliver.

Yeah, this one is a head scratcher. In those time our area is under siege, there is always usally one opposrtunity where we could have smakced the ball away.

But it seems like we dilly dally to pass our way out of it (usually by trying to do a cute pass out that gets cut off).

Sure, you see them given. Against us.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen us given one like that.

I honestly think that’s more to do with us than any widespread bias/corruption. Every other manager will send their teams out willing to cheat to win games. But Jurgen is a purist and has built a team in his image. Good characters on and off the pitch. Salah doesn’t dive for that pen, in the aftermath of 60mins of his teammates playing dead from a slight touch. That’s why Jesus gets that pen and Mo doesn’t.

The pen today falls under the same wtf category as that one Danny Wellbeck won against us.

I think it’s about trying to get as many points as possible and see if qualification for Europe post WC is doable.

That’s all I can think now oh and try and stay in the cups they could be our friends.

I’m not worried about CL qualification. I still think we have enough quality that we should be OK.

But I am going to be if things don’t start improving quickly.

I am now, the injuries are piling up as much as the losses.

Good at times poor in others but seemed to run out of legs near the end, Trent has become a liability Henderson shielding Martinelli out wide and Trent vacated his good positioning and runs past both allowing a goal to be scored with ease. Gomez far better and a bit of steel. Another poor decision from official and no penalty to us then a joke f a one given to them.
Fabinho comes on and give them a free kick straight away he’s in very poor form and immobile. Shitty next oh dear.

We only lost 2.

It looks like father time is catching up with the squad with too many key players in their 30’s and all ageing together. Maybe a bit of physical and mental fatigue from the huge effort put in last season as well? Maybe after winning just about every trophy possible, the hunger may have gone a bit?
It possibly goes back to not adequately strengthening the squad when we were at the top and allowing this current squad to age without freshening it up. Not strengthening when at the top now looks like it’s coming back to bite us.
A bit of a rebuild needed, but I can’t think of a better manager to do just that.

Brentford got a penalty call yesterday, against Newcastle Utd (Ivan Toney's cool penalty grabs one back for Brentford | Premier League | NBC Sports - YouTube), where the ball was played to the hand from a similar distance. If anything, the Brentford call was more a non-penalty than the penalty call that Liverpool should have had today.

Another one to add to the what they fuck was Oliver doing file.

When Jesus goes down as a result of the Tsimikas arm - itself caused by Oliver failing to stop the game with an Arsenal player down injured in the path of the ball - he looks unconscious. His body is limp, his head rolls back when he is rolled over, and the Liverpool players immediately stop play, look incredibly concerned, and shout for the physios.

One of two things has happened.

  1. Jesus was unconscious, or at least very groggy from a bang to the head.

  2. Jesus feigned unconsciousness to try and get Tsimikas sent off.

In either of those situations he should have been removed from the field of play.

Looking at the incident again, I know what I think.

yeap it was #2.
Judging by how, magically, he felt better so quickly.

Congratulations to Arteta for learning from Pep and from the Atletico school.
Cheaty is now the PL’s Real Madrid and Arsenal the Atletico.

All set.

Agree it can be both. By the law of averages they looked far the most likely to score again after we got our second.

Nunez showing if we can get the ball to him he’s a threat.

I can’t even say we are shit to not jinx us no more

Gutted by the result. It’s just unbelievable the whole slide…and I really feel for Jurgen…that he has been fed to wolves(media) because the players have downed tools and have performed below par this whole season.

Unfortunately, all 3 …the players, the manager and the owners …all need to share the blame.

Players: I can understand their frusration after last season …and watching man city signing Haaland, they were probably hoping for more additions on our side to keep it going which hasn’t happened. However, that ship has sailed and window is closed. They need to still put 100 % for this shirt.

Owners: The owners have to share the blame of the situation we faced this summer and will face next as well. We cannot stand still and buy like for like replacements and contract offers renewed as our summer business.
Your opponents are able to spend 200 million without champions league football…however it may be…loans etc, but you have to take some risks or spend to cement your place at the top and sustain with the likes of city. With the investment Chelsea offers now and the risk Arsenal have taken with their recruitment strategy…we are falling behind slowly.
Let Alone ,Jurgen has been the reason we have punched above our weight a few seasons.I wonder where we will be with FSG without Jurgen in these last few years.

I have no hope whatsoever, that we will sign Jude Bellingham next summer. It’s just sounds like a smokescreen and all we will hear is Naby and Bobby with a new contract are like a new signing.

I just don’t buy the theory, that It was Jurgen who didn’t wanted players to be signed this summer.

You give any manager a pool of top players to sign and play, he will not refuse it, unless there is no money to invest.

Anyways…some positives from tonight:

  1. Only 6 points off top 4
  2. Only second defeat of 2022
  3. Gomez looked good.
  4. Our link up play upfront was good. We just need to make sure we use possession better upfront. Cut out the slack passing and we will be scoring for fun.
  5. Next game is round the corner.
  6. Darwin on the scoresheet.

Time to be together and stick with this team everyone.
