respect to Atlanta for trying to play football instead of defensive, negative football that is usually associated with Italian football.
nice to win comfortably with all the lads playing well. another 3 points, clean sheet (with a lot of luck), and top of the table in CL and PL.
will be nice to see Thiago and Jota play together,
Missed the game and was delighted (actually surprised) to see the scoreline today morning. Caught up with the highlights. Looks like it was a near perfect game played by us, considering the inexperience within the squad. A perfect way to prepare for the City game. Also sets us up nicely for the rest of the group stage games.
Fingers crossed no one from the squad and staff came back home with an additional baggage called COVID.
Its almost sunday. Where is the ManShitty tread?
I couldn’t really fault any of our players last night. Jota as MotM, obviously, and I also put Salah as it was great to see his pace on the break and Jones who had a phenomenal workrate and managed to get most passes on target - there seemed to be a fair bit of hate for him on Twitter; I’m assuming that is just plastics who can’t believe that some kid from Toxteth might be quite handy.
Kind of felt a bit sorry for Atalanta as they looked good in attack and were unlucky not to score. I hope they don’t return to the standard Italian safety first approach for the return.
Anyway, definitely a bright spot for this season.
The Diogo Jota signing is proving why it’s important to keep trying to improve the team and bring in fresh faces even when you’re on top.
We all appreciate what Firmino brings. But Jota’s movement is excellent and brings Goals. He should start again against City. Would drive Laporte and whoever crazy.
I think Firmino is going to start against City and rip them apart.
So do I. Klopp is very loyal to his starters and will not drop Firmino just because Jota gave a very good performance.
How about the referee and his preference for waving yellow cards at Liverpool players. I’m not saying they weren’t deserving of a yellow card, but I don’t think he cautioned one Atalanta player all night. There was a particular nasty tackle from behind on Jota, which went unpunished.
He even booked Klopp, for what exactly? So there you go, I’ve given you someone to criticise.
Atalanta looked a poor side to me. Maybe they were having a day like we had against Villa but we can do no more than beat what is in front of us. There is no doubt we gave a sparkling team performance full of excellent individual performances. Jota, what a star , and Rhys Williams ! What can you say?.Curtis also looked the part with more flair and aggression than last time. Not a weak show from anyone. Fingers crossed for a similar effort at the week end.
I just thought it was a great result and we played some very decent football. They would be gutted with a loss like that.
Possibly, I was certainly expecting more from them.
they seemed incredibly open at the back which was partly expected but at the same time it looked like they hadn’t done their homework. Very odd for an Italian side.
A great result still.
An interesting perspective from the always excellent Jonathan Liew:
It is heartening to read proper articles about Liverpool objectively delivered by a proper sports writer
Haha. Yeah well done!
Stunning performance by everyone a real European performance from seasons 18/19 or 17/18.
Every man played fantastic.
Roll on Sunday…
Probably the most biased referee I’ve seen in a good while.
Today’s competition. Which one of these tackles is a foul, and which one isn’t?

Does anyone else feel that football games without fans are prone to an extreme result? I didn’t see last night’s score line or the AV score line coming. It was a great ‘extreme’ result though Loving Jota!
VvD out, Fabinho out, Matip still out, Thiago still out. When will this crisis end.
He just felt sorry for Atalanta and tried his best to keep the score down.
Embarrassing more tyhan anything.
Horrible referee, hope we never see him again.
