I just don’t have any words. I haven’t a clue what we were doing or trying to do. After a good match midweek. 2 changes to the line up and that.
All that this is going to take seems to be patience.

I’d hope he uses the Palace game, take the hit see what you can do. There was intensity in the game against Frankfurt regardless how shit they were. That wasn’t there again tonight.

Yeah, that’s why I said a small sample against a shit team.

But the point is that we are carrying Salah, and have been for a while. That’s OK while he is delivering the moments, but when the moments dry up what do you do? You can’t just keep playing him.

There was no reason not to play Chiesa tonight in that role. Run him out for 60 mins and then give Salah some time.

I feel that the team, and all its differing parts, is just upside at the moment… No settling-in period for us with the heat on since week one… From now on AS has the job of trying to repair our juggernaut while it is rumbling down the motorway…
Think Shankly, think Jurgen… Build up the confidence of these players with words of wisdom… Forget the training ground for now, forget the rodeo bullshit. Get inside their heads and puff out their chest… We are LFC.
Remind the old heads, remind the new guys. We do not quit
AS, do your stuff and steady the ship

I know you said that, but it completely negates the argument.

Salah is playing like shit, but every other of our forwards did tonight too. Who should we have brought him off for? Rio and Chiesa were useless. Gakpo and Ekitike were useless.

Salah scored, and he played a lovely pass there at the end. That’s about all he did, but it was more than the others.

The reason is he isn’t that good but has developed a cult following he was shocking when he came on.

Was the worst player on the pitch when he came on, and that’s fucking saying something!

I gave up after their pen to be fair but he played on Wednesday and should start based on that. If he shit all over the pitch after that so be it.

That sensation you’re feeling is the quickening.

If you are suggesting Slot has lost the players, that is fanciful. He has just coached them to a league title, and they won’t turn on him. They are all professionals and they know that a lot of this is on them and their performances too.

There are too many posters making wild swings at the idea of serious professional deficiencies. Suggesting Slot doesn’t have a plan or that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. This is unfair. It’s not working, that’s clear. But it’s going too far to suggest that Slot is walking into training every day and shrugging is shoulder at what he should doing.

The other thing to bear in mind is that Slot is not the manager. He is the head coach. There is a director of football and a head of football strategy sitting above him. If you are unhappy at the recruitment (and you’d have struggled to find a Liverpool who was after the summer) that finger should be pointed at Hughes and Edwards as well as Slot.

I thought Mo scored :joy:

Maybe when you’re in a hole you should just be hard to beat. Giving goals away within 5 minutes of the start is not part of this strategy.

One - Szob, the rest was really really really really difficult

This is 100% on the manager at this point. His test starts naw and runs into January. If he can’t turn things around then he should be sacked. There’s no way a team with this kj d of talent should be playing like this. Salah is done, I’m afraid, and should not start a match until he earns the right to do so. A legend, no doubt, but at this point we can’t afford a player in his form on the pitch. If Arne cannot see this or will not bench him for the good of the team, then I’m afraid he’s done as well. That was a terrible performance. Only Dom and Curtis deserve any type of praise. It’s just so disappointing and such a let down after the summer spend. Let’s see how Slot and the team responds.

The starting point needs to be to just stop conceding fucking goals. Cheap, awful goals. Tonight a fucking long throw, and ball through the middle that took out the whole midfield.

We don’t have a manager. And that’s not a pedantic point. I saw someone saying he spent £400m in the summer and made the team shit.

The players are evidently also playing poorly here. That’s because we can see one guy putting an effort beyond the rest and thats Dom.

What a weekend… been given a section 21 and this garbage.

Easy to say, and prove the point, but many of your potential example were starting games because others were unavailable, or that everyone was saying they shouldn’t start (Robertson), plus we’re a bit depleted at the moment and this problem is different when it’s added to a feeling team than it was last year when the team was already gelled.

Our strongest 11 last season would be Alisson, VVD, Konate, Trent, Robertson, Grav, Szobo, Macca, Diaz, Salah, Jota (because Nunez couldn’t convince).

Robertson was visibly ageing and needed replacement, and it was doubtful Tsimi could be that replacement, so we had to go and get that replacement. We got the one that made the team of the season.

Trent, Jota and Diaz left us (in different ways but with similar outcome).

  • Diaz would deputize in CF when Jota was injured because Nunez couldn’t convince as a starter. That’s when Gakpo featured in LW. It’s totally different to have the option to rotate between Diaz and Gakpo, and to have only Gakpo and a kid.
  • Your argument probably includes that Bradley started some games last season, but that doesn’t make him our best RB starter last season. Trent is a big loss, and Frimpong that we brought in (or even Bradley that was meant to step up) are in and out of injuries.
  • With Nunez and Jota gone, we had to go out and get the best possible strikers we could find, and we did exactly that. One of them is already doing well, better than the ones we had. The other will take time, for obvious reasons.

Then you have the Salah case. Obviously he is not in the right place, whether it’s the Jota loss or other things. I’m not buying the age thing whatsoever. There’s more issues there, more temporary ones, to not being able to finish things that he would finish 8/10 last season. So I hope he can find himself soon.

The fact is, we have the two top scorers of last season, but at the moment we can’t see the result of that.

So, to make the point clear, you “could”, in theory, but it wouldn’t make any sense, and it wouldn’t mean that just because those 11 started some games, they would win the league last season had they started all games.
To sum up, we did everything we had to do in the summer. And ended up with a quite new team, and a mixture of things are making it slower for it to gel.
