Maybe it’s the fact that we don’t see a lot of him, and that builds him up in absence. But every time I see him play he just isn’t very good. His touch is awful, his passing is dire, and he has the physicality of a 14 year old. If we’re giving anyone time, I’d have a good look at Rio.
WTF??
What a prick.
Yeah have to leave by December 27th… it’s not been a great weekend.
Most sensible post here today…
Sorry dude…that’s fucked.
Nah it’s ok, I’ll find something it’s just feels a bit meh at the moment as everything seemed settled a few weeks back.
The irony is that it was the defence that needed attention more than the attack. Konate and yes, even VVD did not instill confidence in the latter half of last season, which is surprising since our defence was brilliant up until Xmas. I can’t make sense of it.
Always conceding the first goal early in the match is killing us. It seems to happen alot under Slot.
Good:
- Kerkez scored…
- Szoboszlai shined in this game…
- Salah scored that conker after being closer to goal.
The bad:
- Set-piece is an absolute shocker defensively and offensively. The only time we scored a set-piece was against a team who is leaky as fuck in the BL. Up against a decent team, we are fucked. Aaron Briggs has to be relieved of his duties.
- The full-backs. Bradley is unfortunately not the level we need as a LFC starter. The one we have is injury prone. The one who could play there well is also needed at CM. Kerkez being ignored at the offensive overlap is very concerning and the crosses he put in subsequently are not bad. He even ended up scoring! Why not use him more?
- The forwards. Why the fuck are our forwards so wide when they are so deadly nearer to middle is a mystery. Case in point, Salah. He gets the end of cross from out wide and scores a conker in the fucking box. Gakpo is even fucking worse…Gets out wide and does that stupid back post cross to someone who is not the tallest around. Should have gotten the ball to the CM or the overlapping full back and get into the damn box more often.
- Injuries piling up. Jones join our injury room with the injury prone Isak and Frimpong…
- Training and tactics. How the fuck is our players failing to do the basics like passing 5 yards out accurately and knowing where is their team-mates were despite us being already close to November? Why is our wingers not cutting/tucking in and allowing the FBs to bomb forward for the width? What the fuck is Marma doing in trainings with Xavi Valero?? Why is our pressing so shit out of possession? Last season we were doing 4-2-4 out of possession and now we abandoned that for whatever the fuck that was on display?
- Wirtz…Bro needs to be physically stronger and keep the ball better…he was giving balls away cheaply for quite a few times…
It is 6 fucking am where I’m at, and it is infuriating to get back to sleep…
I really don’t know what to make of it.
Let’s get this straight. Slot isn’t getting sacked bar something drastic.
But I really don’t understand what’s going on. I thought we found a pattern that works but we fell apart. Again.
I’d actually be happy with a 0-0 draw in the league to start with.
How are we not switched on for so many first goals conceded?
One thing is for sure, too many players with the PL caliber mentality have gone out. The trio of Jota, especially Diaz, and Nunez (at least most of last season)
Even our Greek Scouser and definitely Kelleher would help. At this point I’m not convinced Mama is an upgrade
Cunt got that in before the Renter’s Rights Bill. Sorry to hear that. It’s shit thing to do just before Christmas.
If you get a ‘section 21’ eviction notice - Citizens Advice’.
You are right…2 shots on target in the second half is WTF…Before Salah’s shot, we only had 1. That’s terrible viewing by all accounts for team that is behind by 2 goals…
I really don’t think Slot knows what to do with such an offensively talented group of players. he wants slow, ponderous control; players like wirtz, Ekitike and Isak want to go, go.
Why sign them then or are you saying he has no say.
he has no say, he is a coach not a manager
I don’t think he has a choice if he wants to fully prepare for the next league game…
Liverpool manager Arne Slot speaking to TNT Sports: “The performance was not so good. Maybe apart from 20-25 minutes in the first half. We were already 1-0 down by that moment in time but at that moment in those 20-25 minutes, I thought the result was possible. From the rest of the game, looking at the way we played and the way Brentford played - I don’t think it was ever in the game for us to get a result.”
On four straight Premier League defeats: “You cannot compare all of them but the most concerning thing is that you lose four times in a row. Afterwards you can judge the performance and today was the worst in my opinion from all the four. Again, conceding a set-piece and not scoring one makes it hard to win a game of football.”
On why it was the worst: “We didn’t do the basics right in the first half and parts of the second. They won more duels than us, they won more second balls than us and if you come here and you know if you are going to concede goals then one of them may be a set-piece and a counter-attack is also one of their biggest strengths and that’s how we conceded two goals. I’m not sure the referee would have give them the penalty but it turned out to be inside. After going 3-1 down we tried, made some substitutes but maybe if I am completely honest, them scoring at that moment in time was more likely than us to make it 3-2.”
On Mohamed Salah being back in the goals: “If Mo is going to go on a scoring run then that is definitely going to be important for the team. Football is about scoring goals but football is also about not conceding goals and for so many games now we have scored one, two, three goals and almost every time in the first five minutes. It would help the team if we have players that score goals but that only helps if, as a team, we can keep a clean-sheet and that is not only what the last line does but what we as a team needs to do better.”
On the injury situation: “You prefer to have all of your players available that is simple and clear but if that is not the situation then the players we do have available need to bring results in. This is something that you can have in a season and this is what is happening with us now. That is something I am not liking of course but something you have to accept.”
All the talk was he convinced Wirtz
so that must be a say.
I think it was a combination of three things:
Robbo tiring halfway through the season because of age, Konate not being consistent, so managed to be better at the start of the season, then on and off, and then the right back rotating between three players, resulting to not being the same back four.
Problems that we still have today, and Kerkez was supposed to be the solution for the first but it’s not at the moment (and for at least a couple of seasons).
Other managers will die for the amount of attacking talent he has on his hands…
At the end of the day, it is his job to convince the players to join us in terms of tactics. Wasn’t that how Wirtz got convinced by Slot to join LFC? I do not believe for a single minute that Slot has no say in this…
