Post match: Brighton v Liverpool (EPL 21/3/26 12.30)

That you must ask Mr Slot for answers…

When you have what seems a fully fit able replacement sitting on the bench I do wonder.

What’s the point of bringing Gomez and Ramsay into this?

The substitution pattern in the game really struck me wrt the contrasting situation of both teams.

Putting aside how we arrived at the situation, or the coaching side of it, Brighton had the more complete squad in this game.

And that for me was quite a stunning situation…

Former player messing us up early on…I think I have seen this one before.

F off Milly. How could you?

Actually, we need someone that can rough up opponents like Milly as an enforcer.

Well that was predictable dross from us. I’ve taken the dog out for a walk in the forest and am currently sheltering in a Schutzhütte from a shower.

I need cheering up. It looks like it’s the Dead Bunny film then. I’ve just seen a deer. I’ll do Bambi as well whilst I’m at it.

So basically FSG are okay with us not making the CL next season.

Was going to say - at least Milner is the sort of player who plays like he gives a shit about his team and teammates. That lot out there seem like they’ve downed tools. Gakpo and Macallister need to be on the sidelines for a bit until they sort themselves out - but apparently the likes of Jones, Rio, et al don’t feature in our esteemed manager’s plans, along with the likes of Quansah or Elliott.

Well if they don’t remove him over the next two weeks then yes.

Today was really bizarre right before kick-off.

Slot has named 3 defenders, 3 midfielders and 2 forwards with 1 GK. Out of the entire list, 1 RB is frozen out by Slot whom he will never use in any situation, 1 is a midfielder kid that has zero minutes in the PL. Why not use one of the slots above to get a youth CF in???

When Hugo got injured, Slot does the most cowardly thing of subbing a forward for a midfielder and changing the whole set-up. WTAF when he has Rio and Chiesa on the bench both of whom can offer way much more of a ball retainer like Jones???

Slot only reacts by bringing off our only speedy right back/right winger for Rio rather than Gakpo who is certainly not making runs at all???

And taking off Konate for Chiesa that led us to nearly conceding another 3 if not for some last gasp defending??

What is so special about Gakpo that he couldn’t be taken off???

I do agree with the change for Hugo that just seemed a meh, an attempt at putting square pegs in round holes again and it’s yet to work.

He probably keeps Gakpo on as the only central forward left mind.

He was the best of a bad bunch today. Better than Slobo, Grav and the incredibly underwhelming Wirtz. But once again as your usual standard lets critique Macca even when others were far poorer.

With that sort of performance, even Jayden Danns or Will Wright could have done better…

I’d have brought on a right back (we had two on the bench) and pushed Flimpong forward.

I’d be playing Jones from the start.

I thought he was awful today. Seems to think he’s controlling the game but so casual, slow and predictable

I really wish that I didn’t deprive my sleep for this god awful un-entertainment (new word). Dad and I stopped watching with 15 minutes to go. This is a first.

Why on EARTH would we do use an actual right back of any sort when we can consistently put our best midfielder in that position???

Well 10 minute cameos will do that.

Are we really surprised half the team that rarely plays gets injured or looks sluggish when they come on?
