…and they only look at the selected image/s that are sent across from Stockley Park…!!!
So if that is not pre-empting the decision the referee has to make… then I don’t know what is…!
I don’t know where this “gaining an advantage” thing has come from. People keep throwing out there this year to argue that being minimally offside isn’t an advantage. It’s odd because it isn’t part of the rule, and it’s clearly bonkers. The whole point about the rule is that being behind the last defender is an unfair advantage.
The issue is not that it’s imperfect. But that they are applying a level of precision with it that the system cannot measure. If they just incorporated the degree of uncertainty that exists it would be fairer and respect the old spirit that the benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker.
It is the implementation that is shit. The whole point of it was to minimize errors. Not only they’ve failed at that but they’ve managed to piss off everyone in the process with their nitpicking and the farcical decisions. Furthermore, a big part of its problems stems from the dipshits that are operating it; I doubt that there’s so much VAR controversy in other leagues.
So that’s 4 points (and counting) that we’ve been blatantly robbed of thus far due to utter incompetent officiating. How can they call this football when supporters can’t even celebrate a goal when the ball’s in the back of the net?
VAR officials have sucked the passion out of football.
Pitch side he’s got three of his bods/team who should be able to help him…Var should be last point of query.
FIFY.
I suppose they have to make the title race more interesting; it wouldn’t be good for the Premier League “product” if we walked it two seasons in a row.
It’s so disheartening really. Instead of looking forward to the upcoming fixtures, we have to stress about what the VAR officials are going to fuck up during the game.
We don’t have to accept that. We can look at that image or video and see within 3 seconds the United lad is clearly offside. That isn’t a problem.
We don’t even need to see that example. There was a perfectly good one in the match. As soon as they showed the Mane one again, it was clear he was off.
The problem is spending an age trying to work out if a lads toe, armpit or shirt is offside. That’s not in spirit or the letter of the law.
Genuinely if it’s so tight that you need to faff around like this, then no advantage is being gained by the attacker - unless you genuinely believe that Mo Salah’s toe being a centimetre offside gives him an advantage.
It’s bullshit.

…Or as Jurgen said in the interview… " badge on their shirt…!"
We can literally have the best of both worlds. A quick check to rule out the obviously incorrect ones. Everything else too tight to tell I’m radiate my, go with the onfield.
I go back to my query earlier on today…did managers and PL meet to discuss the offside using var lines…and the outcome was " if 90% of the player deemed offside is behind the said var line, the player is not offside.
I’m pissed because Brighton were awarded a VERY soft penalty. VAR is irrelevant, the referee used the tools at his disposal and made this decision himself. There have always been inconsistencies in refereeing and there still are, no surprise. I can reason it knowing that we have been awarded some softs ones our selves over the last 18 months, but right now, I’m pissed.

But how do you determine 90%. And what about Shaq? His calves are 90% of him.
Seriously, just eye test it and if you can’t tell go with the on field.
Its a complete mess, it should just be the torso. VAR has upended Rule 11.
Mo’s toe end is only 2% of his body mass, so 98% is behind the line…
VAR is a joke… so if a forward is standing on the shoulder of a defender… but his feet are six sizes bigger than the defenders… he gets called offside…!
I know what you mean, but no, thats a foul.
It’s the best tech currently available, and we should have a fairly good idea of what the margins of error are. Is it not currently being applied as if it is perfect?
Welbeck falls to the floor 10 seconds after contact. Good honest player.
I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard of a player being described as both honest for not going down, and also called out for going down too easily, for the same incident.
