Post Match: Brighton v Liverpool (EPL 28/11/20 12.30pm)

Well if the one today was a penalty, why wasn’t this one given? The lack of consistency is the problem, and sadly it’s looking biased against us.

Just get one back and time waste and pull up the shutters as per.

Just pause or cancel football until the pandemic passes. It’s getting less and less enjoyable. So many injuries, so many poor games because of injuries and inept officials but that’s par for the course. Does anyone doubt that we would have easily beaten Brighton regardless of VAR on a normal day in a normal season?

How much can Klopp take? Or his players? Most of whom have the Euro to look forward to as well.
But $$$ is all that matters for the PL and the broadcasters. Cunts the lot of them.

Wish I could upvote this twice.

Id say the opposite. I think we’ve created a whole category of fouls that are now routinely given in the interest of consistency despite the reaction from the overwhelming majority of pundits to them being “well, it isnt really a foul, but I guess with the way the game is today that is likely to be given.”

This is not an attempt to defend Minamino but Firmino was fucking shit again!

Does anyone know what the trouble with Thiago is…its all very quiet about him.

No and don’t ask Klopp he’s on the verge of exploding.

I look at it this way… We have injuries to our defense and midfield. NOT our attack… Yet our attack is toothless against a shit team like Brighton. And score 1 goal. And expect to win. With refs/ var/ league seemingly against us.

In the age of VAR. You have to be a yard in front last defender to avoid offside. It’s just how it is now.

Given we need to score more goals given our injuries. You have to question some of the tactical decisions by klopp too.

Needing a second goal just in case of something like a ref decision to give a penalty on a 50/50 clearance. Salah is withdrawn when he is the freshest player we have. And Keeps Minamino on who was working hard but thoroughly ineffective… Salah may not have been having a great game. But he is a threat and game changer. And still bangs in important goals when needed. And he was hungry to atone for his offside goal.

Wasted opportunity for us to go top of league. One of Tottenham or Chelsea was going to drop points… A Drawn game against this lot is like a loss.

I need another Heineken

Why cannot refs do post match interviews. Would be better for them, or even hear their conversation with var like in the rugby. Would allow for us to understand their decisions and maybe even understand their point of view. Would do a world of good for all parties

The attack isn’t playing in isolation mate. Our midfield is the base on which our attack is built and our fullbacks are our main creative source of outlets more often than not.

It’s the Premier League …not the FA. The FA cup is their competition

I meant PL :face_with_raised_eyebrow:…same shithole!

Does anyone have a update on Trent.

Because a lot of the time their decisions are incoherent and not defensible. They are not allowed to speak about it because allowing them to do so would make the situation worse.

Not long after Clattenburg left the prem he started doing semi regular appearances on the US coverage and they’d always bring him in after the games to give insight into the big decisions. It was always nonsensical. In one instance he’d talk about not penalizing a player who savagely took out an opponent because “he had a right to go for it” and in another he’d point to trivial contact that didn’t impede the opponent and say it has to be a foul. He made the like the Jenas seem insightful.

He didn’t play today.

No one has updates on anything and that includes the rule book.

Based on what was said in midweek about him he is a possibility for next weekend. I’d be surprised if he was risked for Ajax though even if fit given the circumstances.

“Congratulations,” Klopp sarcastically responded in his post-match interview with BT Sport after being asked about Milner’s injury. “They have injuries as well but ask Chris [Wilder] how we can avoid that.

“I don’t know how often I can say this, you picked the 12.30pm [kickoff], not you personally but you did it. Us at 12.30. So between now and December and the new year as well there’s one more, Wednesday, and then 12.30
“I said it a couple of times, these are difficult times. But if you play at three o’clock or 5.30 it’s exactly the same.

“I’m not having a go at the broadcaster I just say how it is, after Wednesday, Saturday 12.30 is really, really dangerous for the players.
“Why did you pick us again for [at 12.30 after midweek game] if you care?
“It’s such a special season you obviously lied on things we agreed in another time.

“That’s very interesting now,” he continued on the five sub debate. “When we had the talk between the managers a week ago it was 15-5, if not 16-4 for five subs. Since then nothing happened.
“You need at least 14 votes but Chris Wilder or whoever says constantly that I’m selfish.
“So, I think, all the things he’s said shows he’s selfish but it’s not too important. I was in a similar situation as he was when I worked at Mainz and it was only all about staying in the league.
“But they have now three subs and one point if I’m right so there’s no advantage or disadvantage. So if you can do five subs in a game like this, it’s not for tactical reasons.

“For example, today with five subs I take off Robbo 100 percent and bring on to save Robbo not to make our game better or whatever, just to save him.
“That’s the situation, so it’s not about changing tactics or the system or to bring five players on at one time. It’s not like this.
“It’s just to save the players. Yes, of course, I say my players but it’s about all – it’s not only my players that have that problem.

“So, here you will see it from now on to December, we will see it and then we can we will see what happens.
“I’m 100 percent sure you’re going to rephrase what I’ve said but what I want to say is I only go for the broadcasters for the Wednesday and 12.30.
“Only seven managers have the same problem and they all agree. But the problem is we have a contract, we signed a contract. Yes, our CEOs or our shareholders did that, it’s true.

“It’s not a problem, okay in all seasons it is a problem but in this season it is a bigger problem. It’s a bigger problem because of no pre-season, the intensity, the shorter season.
“I say it’s not okay. I am not selfish, but I speak about Liverpool, until this year is over and the power of this season we have this slot three times.
“I spoke a lot about it but look who else has it three times? No one. So, of course, it’s a problem for me, it’s a problem for me to pick a team. That’s my problem.”
