Post Match: Brighton v Liverpool (EPL 8/10/23 2pm)

Why can’t I vote for Robbo as motm (not that I want to)?

Harvey should not be starting games for us, Klopp is desperate for him to succeed and giving him infinite amount of chances, use him as an impact player.

Robbo looks like the next ageing player on the decline, last 18 months or so looked really weak and uncomfortable on the ball.

Mac showed 2nd half why he should be playing nearer to the oppositions goal than our own.

I partly agree but we are missing him further forward where he can influence the game more and clearly he is not comfortable there well now hopefully arsenal and city will draw and both loose points

I’ve given up trying to understand what constitutes a red card and what doesn’t so I’m not going to lose my shit over it.
I’m happy to accept Chris Kavanagh applied the rules in an impartial manner.

Anyone even thinking of selling Mo need their head examined

Best explanation I have seen is that the protocol is the ref can either give a red or wait for a PGMOL apology and he elected to go for the apology

Before I go and add him, resetting everyone’s votes, does anyone want to vote for him?

No?

I was a bit of Virg, and bit of Mac, and a bit of Alisson too.

Mascot coming in with an apology for the error.

TANers are left asking “what does this apology do for us?”

They can’t/don’t give a peno and a red,i think.

If someone shows for the ball he cannot complain about being pressured. At this level you have to not only be able to deal with that but accept the need to play despite close attention from defenders

But if you’re passing to that guy it has to be a better hit pass with more urgency on it

And as a goalie you have to respond better to being out of position when your team loses the ball in the defensive third.

Bad from all 3. And yet another notch on our defense record that was not really about “defending” but losing the ball in a shitty irresponsible way

You want an apology? Fine.

I acknowledge there was an error.

Right, everyone move on now :+1:

West ham thumped them at home.

Both of their goals were gifts from our defenders. We will have to tighten up massively if we want to get into the top four this season. Very disappointing.

I don’t think we can tighten up with the personnel and style we play, we’re such a front foot team we almost disregard any threat the opponent has.

If we go down a route of tightening up, we’ll lose a bit of forward impetus. We’ve been better defensively when we’ve gone to 10 because instinctively you look to defend that bit deeper and in numbers but that’s not how we defend off the ball with 11…we press/half press and leave major gaps.

Thought Mac Allister was alright tbh. Lot of hysteria in here.

West Ham are also a very good team who just gave Newcastle hell today and we’re unlucky to only leave with 1 point.

There are not many teams who can realistically challenge city for the title but there are now 6 or 7 very good sides in this league that you have to expect a hard day’s work against.

Well done boys. Good process

We’re have had arguably the toughest run of fixtures of any side and been forced to play against outrageous game changing refereeing decisions in the majority of them. We’re currently third.

Tbf they missed a couple of similar chances

That’s true and they were quite impressive. However it’s a different mindset at 3-1 and it is often the nail in the coffin. 2-1 is hope. And how often is a simple miss followed by the opposition scoring. Anyway we can review the big plays (Ali save, Ali fuck up, no VAR red, Brighton miss etc) but a draw was probably a fair result in the end.
