Post Match: Brighton v Liverpool (FAC 29/1/23 1.30pm)

Crazy how underappreciated Matip is…other than pace there isn’t any attribute Gomez has over him.

Funny thing about this game is that, on the eye and often in the stats, things didn’t look too dissimilar at times to when we were conquering all but managed to get across the line durong previous seasons.

We previously had a few stinkers amd sometimes several in a row, but somehow managed to get across the line.

While I think we need new blood, investment and fresh ideas, it realy can be fine margins between being on the right side of the result sometimes.

So just to clarify, to be absolutely sure, you consider FSG to be cunts?

Last time we played Brighton, Matip put one of the worst central defence performance since Marin Skrtel was wearing a red shirt.

Cunts. Lovely.

I don’t think FSG are taking money put of the club. We’re carrying a 65% wage bill, last season have cost a lot through bonuses, and the club has been paying the loans on two big infrastructure projects.

That’s where the money has gone.

That’s it?

So suddenly everything else gets forgotten? In Klopp’s words it was the worst team performance since he’s been here but you want to use it to single out Matip and put him beneath Gomez? Matip beneath Gomez? Over 1 extremely poor team display?

Short memory, short memories might need reminding Gomez needed to be hooked at HT when we were 4-0 down against a flimsy Villa side.

Was the whining like this on TIA or has time just worked wonders with my memory? The posters surely weren’t as entitled as some are here.

Not sure if you’ve noticed pal but the clubs going through a pretty horrid pretty painful time right now on the pitch, I think some fans are entitled to feel a bit aggrieved and share their frustration eh?

Yes of course, the club is going through an unexpected transition period. But we have fans going mental and blaming everyone and everything there is to blame from the owners, to Jürgen and the players. Just constant whining about how everything is shit and the whole team is done and we didn’t get as many new shiny toys over the summer and over the christmas. Just two forwards I mean come on.

There is an argument to be had about whats happening at the club, how some players have unexpectedly regressed and what needs to be done in the future. But there is just too many people saying idiotic nonsense constantly that its very difficult to read through it.

From the way I see it, it’s more to do with allowing this to happen…the club has allowed itself to be in the position they now find itself in & fans are fearful what might transpire…they see what other clubs are doing around us and that doesn’t help, I try to block it out as much as I can but it’s hard. We’ve seen this happen under Rafa when we were going well we had that great period between 2004-2008 similar to what Klopp’s going through now (of course nowhere near as successful) and then we saw what happened after Rafa left between 2009-2015…a lot of pain, a lot of heartache…too much heartache, very little to be excited about. We can’t let history repeat itself twice, not whilst we still have Klopp in charge.

Hopefully the bottom of the barrel/low point is at least in sight…

Love how every time we suffer a loss or disappointing result the sub headlines are always the same. “What’s going wrong at Liverpool” “Where’s it all gone wrong at Anfield” “Why are Liverpool the way they are right now” as if to paint the picture it’s a different issue each time. The squad is washed & we’re tight arses in the market, it really is that fucking simple…no real other way to spell it out for you fucking halfwits.

Stupid English media, Wish the worst for them.

It’s sort of like clickbait but this at least does mention the long, oh so nearly season last year, fatigue and a loss in sharpness/form.

I actually thought our initial 3 subs worked as Brighton were in control and we then wrestled control back, it was the last one that lost all our momemtum and control of the game

Defensive shape for the most of the game was fine.

However, it is our ball retention and passing that is now killing us, we just arent on the same wavelength and when we are the weight/direction/timing of the pass is off.

Somehow this needs to rectified in training and pass and MOVE needs to be drilled into them, and in these training sessions if they aren’t in position to offer an angle to receive a pass, fine them or give em suicide runs!!!

That’s not the same as ploughing what the club earns back into the squad though.

I’d rather we stayed at Melwood if the choice was between a nice new training complex or a competitive team.
If they sell FSG will reap the rewards of having a 60000 seat stadium and a brand new training complex but the team they leave behind will be mid-table.

Not in that team he doesn’t, didn’t get involved at all, just completely lost!

Excellent goal by MItoma.

But he wouldn’t work for us. He likes to buy a cheap free kick now and again as part of his repertoire, and he wouldn’t be getting anything at all out of the ref in a red shirt.

For us, he’d be man handled out of the game, and then the stereotypes about physicality would begin again when in reality it would be more from the pendulum swing from the officiating.

I very much doubt if he would say “I’ve had enough”, but I can imagine him saying that maybe it’s time for somebody different to run the show. He would probably blame himself and say that a fresh mind and a fresh pair eyes was needed.
I’ve seen comments saying* he should go back to the ‘gegenpressing” of old. I can’t see that happening as that was Klopp the Younger and this is Klopp the Elder. Maybe he doesn’t have the energy for that high-octane style these days.
I’m not saying I want him to leave; just that I wouldn’t be surprised if he did.
