Can’t wait to see the new ‘booked for time-wasting on a throw-in’ in action at Anfield.
Yeah but we didn’t score so they don’t count. They didn’t score either, however they do count. I have no clue why?
He was already on a yellow at that point. If the Chelsea player goes down then Ibou would have been off.
Anthony Taylor and the idiot on VAR. Sorry, that’s two.
Anthony Scouse Taylor didn’t see it mate.
Ibou didn’t get a yellow it was Jackson who got it for asking for Ibou to be booked
Can’t agree with that at all. He was fine today and certainly not lacking in effort. Great to have a scouse player as VC, and a world class one at that
yes we could in the first 35 min but then the legs went and we were rubbish against a team of nobodies , its the way we play exhausting and leaves the defence exposed and always chasing our tail with every ball into hoofed into the spaces on the wings
Not even when VAR checked it? Must be blind.
Yes, that’s the reason.
Its a point i made on another post during game you cant discredit our good chances but say the were dangerous when taking theres.
Jurgen looks/sounds relaxed.
Looking at this realistically, we were doing well halfway into the first half and then just stopped playing.
We were defending a lot and only had 35% possession. Defending and we didn’t keep composure to keep the ball but only hoofing it forward to nobody. Although we ended up with more shots (13 vs 10), we only had one shot on target which was our goal. Overall we didn’t do well and thanks to Alisson for keeping us in the game.
Therefore, my vote goes to Alisson.
TBF Trent probably deserved it. He does take and age over throw ins whether we’re winning, losing or drawing. I don’t think it’ll be his only yellow for that offence this season.
My interest will be in away keepers taking an age over GKs at Anfield.
We need a DM asap. Klopp tried a different system, but at times it reminded me of 3-3-4. Very brave formation away vs. top 4 opponent. Gakpo is not a number 8 and playing him as the left sided number 8 did not work. James teared apart him and Robbo.
MacAllister looks like a top player, fantastic pass to Salah for our goal and his vision and discipline are impressive. Still when we play him as the deepest midfielder we miss his best quality - pressing.
Szoboszlai had a slow start, but grew into the game. He has speed, physical presence, knows how and when to press and is not afraid of gettin stuck in a battle. And of course he is versatile, started as the right sided midfielder and ended as a left winger/midfielder.
Impressed with Konate, VvD also looked solid. Still a special praise for young Ibou. Robbo looked poor, but it is not only his fault. Diaz did not help enough and Gakpo looked totally lost. And Andy had the best full back in the league against him. After James’ injury Chelsea lost the domination on their right side. Trent was solid defensively which is really important, but his passing was not at his usual best /still only cm stopped and he could get an assist for Salah’s disallowed goal/.
Diaz with a goal, but I expect much more from him, same is valid about Jota and Salah. Jones, Elliott and Doak showed much more desire when introduced. And Nunez - disappointing, he had to control much better that ball from Maca, then good pressing and a ricochet could lead to a lucky goal, but from a 80 mln. pounds forward you expect to play better when he has such a nice opportunity at the end of the match.
Still a point is very good result for us, bur we need a defensive midfielder. He will help realease the true potential of MacAllister, Gakpo can play in his usual position and our display will look much more cohesive.
It’s the same when we play well for 70 mins. Last 20 the other team has couple of chances and the narrative then is we were lucky to hang on. Infuriating.
My mistake. I thought that they’d both bern cautioned.
"Mac Allister is obviously a really good footballer which you saw around our first goal. The new players gave us a massive opportunity in offensive moments. Dom [Szoboszlai] is a BEAST, he played three positions today. Top boys, top players…Klopp
Sky said VAR told them they feel the flick on was close proximity and the hands were tucked in. Dale Johnson will probably say it’s a subjective decision, one day will be a pen, another not.
Funny how a lot of subjective decisions go against us.
You’re in for a long wait then, until a game comes along where a token yellow card will come out in the 89th minute when the team have been doing it since the first minute.
