I’m just glad that noone on here is managing the team. We’d be in a right mess I’m sure.
Maybe Slot has a burner account…
What if he’s actually @The-AllMightyReds ?
I would hope he has better things to do but who knows.
At Elliott’s age Mac Allister had just signed for Brighton from Argentinos Juniors, was on loan at Boca Juniors. He then returned to play 9 games at the end of the 2019/2020 season for Brighton. It wasn’t until the 2021/2022 season that he became a regular starter and it wasn’t even until late in that season that Brighton moved him into more of a proper CM role and he started to flourish. Before that they had used him as a CF, AM, RW… took him time to find his role.
Obviously they are not the same player but I agree there are thing Elliott can look up to with Mac Allister. Ultimately though Mac Allister was also not established at this point in his development. Elliott is arguably much more developed than Mac was at this point, actually.
I think Elliott is a good player and I would like him to stay. He has played a lot of top level first team football for his age.
The issue is how Slot seems to see it. He has barely used Elliott. If that is going to continue, it would be better for all concerned if Elliott moves on to forge a career elsewhere. I think that’s the way this one will go, but I will be sad, as I do think he’s a player.
If we sold him, who do you think would want to buy him?
Would it be Newcastle, Chelsea or Villa?
Or would it be Palace, Brentford or Wolves?
Just a hypothetical question. I’m not sure.
I’ve seen a few whispers that Newcastle like him. Elliott will want to play as high up as he can, and on our end, if we sanction a sale, we will want to get the most we possibly can.
Arguably a team like Bournemouth comes into play if we are interested in one or two of their players.
2-3 inches of height. Or the extra yard of pace. Elliot is 5’7
Problem with Elliot is that he lacks the above two. Can’t contest the duels in the midfield with guys who are 6 feet and above and doesn’t have the pace to slot in as a winger. Even one of the two would be fine.
No problem at all with his other football attributes.
I like Elliot but we probably bought him expecting a growth spurt and that hasn’t happened.
Most likely Fulham. A mid table team like Fulham where his other attributes can come to the fore.
Brentford won’t. They are a physical team and the purchase of Carvalho was probably something out of the norm for them. Don’t see them repeating it.
Elliot I think was 16 when we bought him. Still seems to be the same height.
Maradona was 1.25 metres or so.
That’s a different era and a different class of footballer.
You could still point out Messi who’s 5’7. But as we know , footballers in that height need to be very talented to succeed.
I bumped into him once in Glasgow, and he wasn’t quite that short, but he was almost perfectly spherical.
I ran into an Argentine who now works in the Bay Area. People love to talk to me as you all know (especially @Maria). So we got to talking and he did his army service with Maradona. Said he was great to be around.
I told him Macca > Messi. He grew irked. But I love to irk.
On another point of this match…did anyone see the incident with Virgil…
What incident? I’m intrigued.
Me too…you tube has highlights of the game…with a voice indicating an incident with Virgil…it shows blood from his eye…looks genuine…but could be a wind up…
The whole squad being sold in the summer and replaced by 25 ‘improvements’
