Post match: Crystal Palace v Liverpool (EPL 25/25/23 7.45pm)

The stats look very horrific

See ya, Naby lad. So fuckin disappointed. I always thought there was a player in there. Seems I was wrong.

Whoā€™s that?

I am more reminded of late in Rafaā€™s time, after the high of 2009 where expectations had been lifted and we had shown there was a great team possible. Just like in 09-10, this team just seems to show positive signs, then follow them up with a frustrating draw, or here and there a shock loss. Today wasnā€™t a disaster per se, but not exactly a response to the drubbing by Real either.

We all know it can get a lot worse, of course, and that doesnā€™t seem likely, but I am not quite seeing the green shoots you seem to be.

Terrible game. On a positive note, Virgil had a good game.

We look so much less threatening when Darwin Nunez isnā€™t playing. Diaz too, although heā€™s been out a while. Mo Salah, since the new deal, is a level below what he was, too. He had 2-3 good looks today, and in form at least one would have gone in.

Bad day, but on the positive side it was a clean sheet and a point.

While top four gets harder the more weeks that go by without a win, it still hasnā€™t gone yet. Get Darwin Nunez back and beat Wolves on Wednesday and it will look a bit better.

So. Fucking. Slow.

Im going out on a limb here but from what i have seen tonight and all season we will not end up in the top 4, we can get diaz back and he can make a difference but he canā€™t hit the ground running! We are looking like a shot team, and dont shoot me down for being negative I am 44 years old, live down south with a dad who is from liverpool (scotty rd) , I have supported liverpool since the late 80ā€™s through the glory years but still had to go to school surrounded by little gunners when they won the league at anfield in 89 and that was painful! Suffered through the 90ā€™s and 2000ā€™s after working in magaluf and being around mancs, 99 was very painful when they won the European cup! We will come back, we have the best manager we have ever had, and all he needs is funding from the owners and next year cannot come soon enough.

We were lucky Palace was without Zaha and generally gash. If we conceded (and we bloody tried our best to give them chances) I donā€™t think we can even draw it.

Toothless without Darwin.

Cody needs to learn that turning with the ball in the PL needs to be a lot quicker than the Eredrivisie

He just didnā€™t look arsed tonight. Normally he gets about the pitch much more

I donā€™t usually partake in singling out players, but these three seriously got on my nerves today.

Nothing really to say about that performance. A clean sheet, 48yo Milner our best player, and I see Virg appearing (Iā€™m not a body language professional) to shake his head at mistakes by teammates.

Its ok to be angry when a ball is turned over. Its almost ok to not have confidence in teammates who are in poor form, but to shake your head at a teammate is IMO a lack of respect for them and it really shows that we arenā€™t playing as a whole. If the entire season isnā€™t enough proof.

The only positive - and I believe I may be in the minority here - is the gametime to Jota. I thought some of his passing and movement in the forward half was like the old days. But then he also turned the ball over a lot, possibly expecting certain players to be in 21/22 season positioning, and not terribly-out-of-form 22/23 positioning. That rustiness will improve but I saw some positive signs from him. I will understand if everyone else sees it differently given how much he lost the ball.

Thatā€™s really all the energy I can commit to this particular post-match thread for now.

He knows heā€™s gone in summer

I saw him do a warming-up, and I knew he would be shite. Played long enough at a proper amateur level to recounice players doing a fucked up warming up and be shite in the match.

I remember just a few years back, having a laugh at Arsenal fans buzzing they were in Europa.

Itā€™s there for our taking!

Even more rubbish and this time more rubbish than rubbish.

My man of the match Salah as he was a particular type of rubbish.

When are we going to hump a long ball up field ā€¦

Thought van Dijk had a good match ā€¦

Except youā€™ll be saying its on in a few weeks ifā€¦ā€IFā€ we win our next 2 games.

One step forward, 2 back.

Anyone saying Klopp should resign needs to take a deep breath and calm down. Last season we were 2 games from a quadruple. Short memories or what? Thatā€™s not what LFC is about. He has maybe been too loyal but that has also been his great strong point. Anyone old enough to remember knows that Shanks was too loyal to his first great football team. Took a few seasons to build his 2nd great team.

Paisly on the other hand was way quieter than Shanks but more ruthless. Added 1 or 2 each season. That is the key I think. Look at Real, they sold Casemeiro for Ā£70 million bought Touchameni. Ā£0 outlay probably on less wages.

If they buy Bellingham, thatā€™s their midfield set up for 10 years. Touchameni, Camavinga, Valverde, Kroos , Modric and Jude (or another). Ruthless planning. End of this season theyā€™ll bring in a midfielder + a forward to be ready to take over from Benzema.

Thatā€™s our mistake. Milner should have been moved on and Jordan should have taken his role for example. The squad stays strong because older players become squad players and weaker players get moved on as a natural process.

Mascot said can you imagine twitter exploding if Mo had been moved on? Who cares? Thatā€™s why we have a coach and director of sport to make ghese non sentimental decisions. We have to bite the bullet.
