Post Match: Everton v Liverpool (EPL 17/10/2020 12.30pm)

We got robbed :face_vomiting:, how is that offside🤷, I can’t even see it on the replay. If it’s inconclusive on the replay they should just stick with the call on the pitch which was A Goal.
We played a lot better than the Villa game, more cohesion in midfield and more tidy at the back. I can’t believe Pickford didn’t get a red for taking down VVD even though that was offside. Richarlison could’ve ended Thiago career with that wreckless tackle. Too many key injuries today. Hopefully they’re not hurt too badly.
I didn’t think Bobby played too bad today, although I agree with a lot of poster, he should take a break and let either Jota or Taki lead the charge.
Lets keeps the momentum going and string a few wins together.

I’m a huge fan of Bobby, but couldn’t agree more. He’s just not been at it for some time now. I’m all for him feeding the other strikers when they’re better placed, he’s one of the most unselfish player in the league when it comes to this, but even when he’s in prime position to shoot now he looks for a pass and appears terrified to take a shot himself. His confidence must be shot.

Throw Jota in for 3-4 games and give Bobby a rest, maybe a kick up the backside is what he needs.

On the plus side I thought we played excellently and it now seems Villa was a one off in weird circumstances (the covid issue hitting our squad).

We do need Alisson back though.

Robbo and Joe’s faces as the ball goes in. The agony, captured.

Back to our best form today even with VVD missing after five minutes. A master class from the new boy Thiago and a much improved display in all departments. How Pickford stayed on and Henderson goal was disallowed God only knows. Let’s look on the bright side and Virgil is back soon.

Not to go full conspiracy theory, but is the PL big wigs response for LFC being involved in Project Big Picture? It’s a stretch, but the chemtrails outside brought the thought to mind:)

Watching the game back only doubled my frustration.

If VVD is gone for an extended period, does that put us down to 2 center backs, and Fab?

No conspiracy. The Prem refs are just shit.

They go into a game thinking something like: (1) today I will let the game flow regardless of what happens; (2) today I will show the world that I do not favour team X; (3) today I will not show a yellow at all in the first half as this is what a derby means; (4) today I go into the game and give a yellow in the first minute to stamp my authority.

They should just go into the game with a blank slate and ref what they see in front of them, not what’s in their heads.

It was heartbreaking watching once… To watch it again mate… Don’t do this to yourself… I will try henceforth to watch the repeat of the game once I know the result and we have won the game… Many of our hearts can’t take this week in and week out. Watched football for decades but after VAR it’s kind of getting to me…

According to Law 11 as published on the FA website:

  • The hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered.

The last time I checked, the elbow was considered to be part of the arm, so it cannot be included when making an offside decision.

I would rather put it as Matip and Fab. Gomez being the 3rd or 4 th choice. His confidence is low and he offers nothing. He does every thing like Van Dyk except for the defending part. Cool and composed in letting goals.

Great to see Captain back. Excellent performance by him, Robbo and Thiago.
Some of the passes from Thiago were exactly what we were missing when the opposition used to have all their men behind the ball. The way he played, it’s easy to forget it was only his first start for us.

Hope VvD is fine. If both him and Allison are ruled out for an extended period then we might need to drop our back line just a little deeper. That said, reading that Allison should be back soon. Hope it will be the same with VvD.

Offside or no offside, that should have been a red for Pickford. Not looking at the ball, two footed tackle at knee height. It should have been a red , IMO, like any other off the ball incident. To make matters worse, he goes on to make a couple of good saves.

Mane offside is a strange one. Technically a correct decision but based on really strange and stupid law. Very difficult to digest that one.

In all it shows our Villa defeat was a one off, we came back strong, just like how defending champions do. We can only get better with Allison + VvD coming back and Thiago + Jota getting into the groove.

Having Richarlison in my fantasy football team has done its job. Time to replace him with Calvert-Lewin.

Also depends on the thickness of the ref.

What a joke.

Simply not good enough. Chances went missing. The defence and goalkeeper just not up to par conceding the two goals. That said the refereeing was atrocious and it cost us. Red card and the offside goal. Two points dropped.

How do you work that pearl of wisdom out. We had 82 points at lockdown City finished with 81 I guess maths isn’t a strong point.

Would anyone like to buy my football…

Thankfully given our defensive problems it doesn’t seem like any team in the Premier League is really interested in defending this year.

On a more serious note, I think it’s little coincidence that Gomez’s shocking form has generally come when crowds aren’t there. Someone made a comment about the crowd giving you more concentration and I think he is a particularly evident case.

How the hell am I supposed to give him a like when I am blocked to do so because I have reached my quota?
