Post match: Leeds v Liverpool (EPL 6/12/25 5.30pm)

SLOT HAS NO IDEA!!! Kerkez instead of Robbo… Players playing out of position… Defence porous…

Issac is he having a laugh …

Don’t have to read much between the lines of that interview to see that Szobo is totally fucked off with some of his teammates

I had no issue up to the dumb move by Konate a slide straight would at worst been a corner.

After that it’s more of what we’ve seen now for weeks

Not sure why I am so fucking angry with today’s outcome, as it has been a pattern of late…But perhaps it is the same fucking pattern that makes me so frustrated. Gakpo was one that trigger my anger for the entire 1st half (2nd half, with him on the far side of the pitch, took away some of my annoynance). It is insane that Slot puts him in every single fucking match when he has been as poor as Mo.

No snow today for me to go and clear to relief my frustration!

What did Kerkez do wrong, he was one of our better players?

Haha I will

Dominik Szoboszlai:

“I don’t know what happened after 2-0. I think we thought the game was over and we just made sure at the beginning of the game that this is the kind of game where you can never underestimate the team. Maybe after the penalty they just had the momentum. We came back which showed a good reaction but we conceded again from a set-piece is not the nicest way.”

Because you are currently brittle as posh cheese.

As has happened many times this season a player makes a stupid decision and that is the catalyst for our heads to fall off.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we have some issues on the the pitch but the major issue is in their heads. The mentality is piss weak. The inability to handle a moment of adversity but not let it turn them in gibbering wrecks is astounding for a team that won the league last year.

We get dribs and drabs of okay individual performances here and there but I don’t think we’ve seen a solid team performance all season.

The question is what will it take to break that cycle now because the manager has had four months and nothing has improved. He’s changed the line up and nothing has improved. He’s not really changed our tactics in any noticeable way but at some point you have to question whether he can and if he can’t how much longer can this go on?

For 70 mins, it was our most comfortable and accomplished performance for weeks. We looked definitely improved.

The last 20 mins alarm me more than any other loss/draw recently though because of the nature of it. The players just completely collapsed. Mentality is shocking. Confidence clearly through the floor. Ultimately, it’s Slot’s job to turn that around. I’ve no idea who we’d replace him with, but I’m rapidly losing confidence.

1 win from 5 since the international break.
We played Nottingham Forest, PSV, West Ham, Leeds and Sunderland.

It will ring hollow and get lost in the fume, but until that Leeds Equaliser I was totally with you.

I think in the last three games we’ve played better and looked more solid.

That 20 minute collapse is fucking brutal though, and I fear that it (especially the final goal) takes our heart and puts us back to square one. As I said, these boys are so mentally fragile.

We need a change of captain…szbozlai should be captain as he at least is fighting , VVD has been great over the years, but he is no longer the force or inspiration to the team he once was.

5 points in the last 5 matches…Other than the West Ham match, we had no clean sheet at all. In the last 5 league matches, we conceded exactly 3 goals for 3 matches…Conceding 3 goals rarely wins you matches…

Positives :

  1. Hugo is sharp mentally. Scored 2 goals.
  2. Bradley has an assist from out wide! Wonder why we don’t do this more often…
  3. Szobo’s doing admirable job doing AM and CM at one go…Scoring one as well!
  4. Jones showing why he should be ahead of Macca for now

Negatives :

  1. How Gakpo stayed so long on the pitch is a mystery. Ineffectual and couldn’t finish his shot.
  2. Bozos at CB. The signs were there and it culminated in Konate sliding in recklessly.
  3. Gomez. Made that one mistake of misjudging the height of the ball, conceded the corner and Tanaka scored…
4.Our low block is laughably bad. Leeds player gets the ball, was waltzing into the box and scores their second. Nobody made the effort to make a block ,make a tackle or even force the fucker to go backwards…Nothing!
  4. Set-pieces. At this point, time to find a specialist and let Aaron Briggs go…
  5. Slot’s subs took the wind out of our sails…Gomez made that mistake of conceding that corner, Macca couldn’t make a tackle, Endo was overwhelmed and Isak was isolated…WTF…

**Dominik Szoboszlai on how much of a toll the bad run is taking on the dressing room: **

“What is in the dressing room stays in the dressing room, it is not for the public. We have to manage it, we have to find solutions. I can always come up with the opportunity on Tuesday or on the weekend again but there are also time where you have to look at yourself. You have to go home and think if you did everything what was possible and if the answer is yes then we just keep going and the momentum will come."

FT: Leeds 3-3 Liverpool

Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai speaking to Sky Sports: “I don’t know what happened after 2-0. Maybe after the penalty they just had the momentum. We came back which showed a good reaction but we conceded again from a set-piece is not the nicest way.”

On whether it’s a confidence issue: “I don’t know maybe you’re right but after 2-2 we showed a great reaction and showed our mentality. We knew we made a mistake by letting them come back to 2-2 but I have nothing to say about the result.”

On whether the champion team is still in there: “It’s a good question. It’s hard to speak about it. Last year we became champions, now I don’t even know what position we are. Every team is doing well. Every team wants to win against the champions and we knew that before the season as well. We have to find solutions, we have to show reactions and everybody has to take responsibility. Not always the old guys or the guys that have been here longer, everybody. Everybody has to go on the pitch and show they are ready to fight for this badge.”

Had people saying all summer not to worry about left wing because we had Ngumoha. Said it was ridiculous to put that expectation on a 17 year old and now you simply can’t chuck him into this mess.
