Fletcher was obsessed with Schmeichel totally irrelevant save. Went on about it all game.
Not in any sport in the world would the player running with the flight of the ball have ‘right of way’.
That second is 100% on Ali.
O wells.
He’s lucky he won us a CL…
EDIT; the above assumes Ali wasn’t screaming at Kabak to fuck off, that is…
And if he was…
Yeah I would take him out. Forms been poor, don’t see many players leave clubs being dropped for a game due to poor form.
What Jones data are you on about. I’m saying he’s been our best player last few games in my opinion and shouldn’t have been subbed off last few games. Fucking hell. Stay off the drink son, tad early for that.
Well that all turned to poo, didn’t it?
It really doesn’t help when half the team are playing out of position but we looked creative in the first half and the goal for us was excellent. Then it turned to crap.
If Fabinho had been fit I think things might have worked out better. Hendo isn’t a CB but he did a reasonable job of running things from there. MotM for effort.
Kabak did reasonably until the goal but it is obvious that he doesn’t know our system or that the keeper thinks he is a frigging midfielder. It’s going to take time to get used to this. For that reason it would have made sense to stick on Phillips to see the game out.
I’m not sure how we can improve from here. Replacing Lovren last summer would appear wise after the event but I think many fans were saying that back then. All we can do now is to get a functional team without a pre-season.
Miles outside the box? Its barely outside the line and the line is part of the box? In real time it looked a pen to me watching it. So VAR made the correct decision then…I thought it was bent?
Blaming VAR (which is useless, I don’t know of any fan of ANY club who thinks otherwise) for our form and results is delusional.
If you want to blame something look at Thiago’s tackling, Alissons goalkeeping, a panic 1M loan signing playing at the back, the lack of decent quality coming of the bench, the effect Klopps subs have had on the side, how poorly some players have been performing, the fitness record of Ox, Shaq, Matip and Keita.
I posted our form record since football resumed from the first lock down and it does not make for pretty reading and has only gotten worse since.
Injuries have fucked us well and truly this term. Covid and the removal of fans have had a massive impact too for sure. Financially football is on a knife edge which has surely effected recruitment.
VAR? its useless. Refs? They run VAR so of course its useless because the PL refs are collectively useless fuckers. By all means hate both, I do. But I’m not blinkered enough to blame the form of this team and its results on them.
Or finish top four. But, you know, we could just give up with a third of the season to play.
There are a lot of things to be asked about for this season so far
-
For this 20/21 season, it is no coincidence that our poor form stems from the lack of control in the middle of the park once Matip became injured for the rest of the season. Once James Milner went off for Thiago, the balance was going to get worse as the game went on with Gini the only one doing his fucking best to hold everything together. Both Jones and Thiago are not your classic shielders of the ball with Thiago giving away the ball more than Keita has done all season. The question that I would like to pose is that should we risk having 1 or even 2 young central defenders play in their natural positions so that Henderson and Fabinho will be able to go to their natural positions to shield the defence better?
-
Is the current GK tactical coaching appropriate for Alisson this season given that our main defenders are all wiped out by injuries. Should the training be done such that Alisson will be slightly more conservative in approach to the game and allow the defenders to do their basics?
-
Our general training regime has to be looked at as well. Other than Virgil’s injury, most of the injuries we have now are largely muscle injury and I suspect the knock that Mane and Thiago have before this game are the same as well. Do we need to actually give more rest to our players and instead focus on the tactical aspects to the game due to the fact we had an abnormally short pre-season?
-
Thiago Alcantara.
Think of it this way when we see Leicester’s midfield today. James maddison is given the freedom to do his stuff when he knows there is Tieleman and Ndidi helping to mop up behind him. Thiago is literally 2 times the player James Maddison is but is hampered by the lack of midfield stability given to him. In Bayern, Thiago has Cuisance, Goretzka and Martinez to help him out. We only have Gini and Jones because Fabinho and Hendo are back in CB which links back to point 1.
If we want to make Thiago shine, we need him to be surrounded by midfield battlers.
- Klopp’s game management. His game management is extremely awful recently. If we are holding on to the 1-0 lead, the logic would be to shore up the midfield and defence. Would getting nat phillips for jones be a better choice than getting AOC?
Partly agree. But we do play with a sweeper keeper. The ball is hanging high in the air. Kabak needs to quickly adjust to our playing style.
But of course, in an empty stadium there should be no mis=hearing of communcation signals. Need to look at it again to see what was communicated.
I would expect Alison to have shouted “mine”, just like in cricket when two are running under a high ball for a catch. Also, as the ball was in the air for some time, I’d want a CB to be more aware of his surroundings.
Yeah, this one was crazy. it also highlighted Kabak’s lack of pace. I thought we were getting someone with pace and other raw attributes which could be coached on. If that is his pace, then back to scouting for the summer.
Perhaps a season without European football do us good.
The team played really, really well until they got fucked by the officials. One goal up, totally in control and pushing on.
The first goal shouldn’t have stood, the second goal shouldn’t have stood, and when the third goes in their heads have goal, which isn’t surprising.
Sorry but you don’t drop your number one goalkeeper after few mistakes, it would just unsettle him and it wouldn’t have any upside in doing so in the long term.
And the data the club collects of their players, you clearly know something about Curtis’s medical history and his fitness level atm to be able to make such claims when or when not he should be subbed off.
Too many under hit.passes or wrong passes in final third in the first half and the opportunities we missed killed us. Should have been 3 nil up after 30mins
Free falling now and something’s not right behind the scenes. I no lots of injuries but now to me this has a look off a stand off between manager and owners… players ain’t happy and neither is Klopp. Something g off the pitch has gone just as wrong as the things on it and if we dont finish top four there goes champions league money.
Mad 10mins that ruined us but I’m not going with the officials or VAR as an excuse as I said we could have won it in first half if we finished our chances. Whole club needs to step up now and turn it around or it could be an awful lot worse by the end of the season
Yeah, the change in midfield allowed Leicester to come back into the game. Negative impact, as in the Man City game.
The backroom team need to analyse the impact of their subs to the midfield balance. Granted, the Milner sub was forced. And the Ox of course not to directly blame for the collapse, but I wonder what his instructions were. Was anonymous.
We’d be better off if Tsimkas came on instead to give Andy a bit of rest.
Signing Kabak a mistake?
Come on, mate; you know better than that.
Never judge a player on his debut, especially when his goalie has made him look bad.
First of all last game he made two faults, today he was good, he sees the ball coming shouts and Kabak does not go out of his way. The mistake was on the defender.
Second, have you seen who was on the bench? Adrian and although the season is, according to me, over I have no desire to see him in Liverpool goal ever again.
Do we think Klopp is achieving the most of what he has to work with.
Well, he could have played everybody in their natural positions??
He’s won a Champions League and ended a three decade title drought.
I think he’s done okay.
