Thats agreed. I maybe should have been more specific about is he getting the best from what he has to work with now. 8 points from 9 games is relegation form.
Yes, this season is shit thanks to a ridiculous amount of injuries, Everton thugs and corrupt match officials. No supporters in the stadium do not help too but that goes for everybody except City.
Klopp is not the problem.
The truth is that he had nothing to do until then. In a top team, as goalkeepers soon enough find out (Simon Mignolet), you can come from a bottom club always defending, to pretty much zero to do - until all of a sudden there is somehting to do. Concentration needed.
It’s his first game, so will cut him some slack. Hopefully he is not another Bjorn Tore Kvarme - got skinned in the derby against Danny Cadamarteri (shudder)and never recovered.
I dislike the fact that he’s persevered with Bobby for so long, even though he’s been woeful for at least a year now. Yes, he pops up with the odd moment of brilliance but one swallow doesn’t make a summer.
I also cannot fathom the constant weakening of the midfield to play Henderson in defence. If there is no other option at all, fair enough. However, Phillips has barely put a foot wrong when given the chance and choosing Henderson over him is weakening two areas of the field at once.
Midfield is the most important part of the pitch, especially in Jürgen’s system and Jordan is our best midfielder; it’s essential for that trio to be as strong as possible. That means including Henderson as part of the midfield triumvirate whenever he is available for selection.
Even Klopp had to admit that his players were affected by the awful ref decisions their arms dropped visibly because up to then they were giving their all it is the only way to explain the mini collapse.
Worthy of discussion, @RER. So we take the injured players out, let’s look only at the lot he’s got available. Either the players aren’t willing or capable to play what he’s asking, Or, he’s not adjusting his tactics to maximize the best qualities of the players he’s got.
EDIT: the lack of…anything…from midfield is most alarming for me. And it shouldn’t all be on a 19 year old Curtis. He’s played his part. It’s the other veterans that need to be better.
It really is well beyond ridiculous this VAR crap. How many more wrong calls must go against us before some people start seeing the forest from the trees?! And please spare me with the “well they got one correct call out of 3 today so there mustn’t be bias” absolute garbage. Yes we’ve been shite, but it doesn’t help when playing 11 against 14 + a group of manc nerds hiding in a room far away with technology and powers that allow them to alter the decisions in games.
Jürgen’s post-match thoughts
Certainly played better than we had recently, didn’t create much though and gave up three (two excellent) chances to Vardy in the first half.
I simply don’t agree on the goals, the first is debatable maybe depending on how VAR see’s it. The second you are clutching at straws. I agree some dubious decisions have gone against us, the Mane goal in the derby comes to mind. Fans of every club say the same…I’ve watched plenty of non Liverpool games this season and some of the decisions have been utterly baffling. Virtually every commentator, pundit, Manager and fan thinks it’s an utterly shite system.
Any fan I’ve talked with thinks VAR is useless and biased against them. A mate who’s a Villa fan thinks its bent against them, another is a Manc and he wants it scrapped because it ruins the spirit of the game and enjoyment of watching football. A woman who works with us is a City fan and she says it always goes against them and favors us. It doesn’t help the credibility of my point of view but I watch a bit of AFTV for a laugh here and there…what do those Morons think of VAR and Refs? Love it do they? They think it’s corrupt and biased against them. They scream its okay for Arsenal players to be fouled, kicked and dragged because the Refs are bent against them. But they are morons so bound to be wrong.
With all due respect, and I’m not having a personal pop at you, sure VAR and Refs are useless but they are a very very small part of why this side is performing as it has been since football resumed.
Agree with you here. 100%
Although Henderson played excellent at the back today (gorgeous 60 yard passes, and clever interceptions), take the Vardy header as an example in the first half. Vardy is between Andy and Jordan. Hederson allows Andy to pick Vardy up even though Andy is on the wrong side. A normal CB would’ve taken two steps to his left to attempt to put Vardy off.
Nat Phillips gives us heading abitly at the back which is waht we need defending set peices. I think that because N Phillips wasn’t in the european squad, and R Williams came into the team excelling by doing a Damian Plessis style debut game, it caused Jurgen to doubt N Phillips a little due to his simple passing ability.
R Williams then played some Prem games for his passing ability, rather then letting N Phillips continue and improve (until R WIlliams had his running in quick sand moment). Klopp gambled big time there, and R Williams did do well, but N Phillips could have continued his simple but efficient form and allowed Fab or Henderson in midfield.
The Boss pretty much confirming in that write up the second goal was mostly on Kabak.
And no-one but no-one can ask these people why?, show these people they are wrong, or ask for a review… Its shit…and I still feel sick, heartbroken, what more can I say…
I like the reaction from Klopp. Taking a very rational approach. Makes me beleive that solutions can be found, and we’ll go for a good run in the champions league.
Is anyone looking forward to playing the Everton thugs next week? Not only will we probably lose a game against them, for the first time in God knows how many years, but we’ll likely pick up at least one serious injury. I can’t wait.
Don’t like the fact the he has already conceded the title, despite the pensive pause.
Yes, HRA FC are potentially 16 points ahead of us. Yes, we are playing badly. Yes, the refs are shafting us at every given opportunity.
But he should have said that he refuses to concede until it is no longer mathematically possible for us to retain our title. The media will be all over this.
Then I wonder why all this qualifying nonsense from The Boss. Why didn’t he say it was 50/50? Or he could have said Ali needs to adjust to Kabak? Either way it sucked. And my point was that everyone was on about Ali fucking up there.
I tried but his phone is off.
Its the same reaction we have had from Klopp now for last 10 weeks. During this time nothing has changed what makes you think it will now.
I hope you are right. They only think keeping me sane was football. Can’t see my mates, working from home, can’t go for a beer, can’t travel 5Km from home, haven’t seem my parents in months, the vaccine roll out is a shambles. Then this morning I hear the Mother of a good friend of mine has died in a nursing home (not Covid) and they could’t even get to say goodbye. Here we are debating whether a foot is onside or not. It’s a fucking mess.
Klopp says it as it is. No messing. He has always been candid in his interviews, unlike many managers who take the PR line.
For me, that’s more refreshing than many of the robotic repsonses you get from many managers.
