Post Match: Liverpool v Arsenal (ELC 1/10/20 7.45pm)

Echo what others have said largely. We should have won that. Penalties is part luck.

I noticed Klopp and Wilson chatting when they were deciding who takes when. He either wanted to take one of the first 5 or didn’t. His wasn’t the best for a dead specialist. He’s also too pedestrian for central midfield, and too slow for the wings. Hes not good enough, and it showed at times.

Was expecting Shaq to be involved, not sure what happened there?

Grujic had a great game, but to keep him means he’s 7th choice in CM. He had time and space tonight against a similarly leveled arsenal CM. Any more important a game and he’s not even making the bench. Another, unfortunately, that isn’t good enough.

Enjoyed the performances of Jota, Taki, and the Williams’. Salah, Virgil and Milner solid as expected.

I want us to win a domestic cup competition this year. Fa Cup it is.

Could do without the extra game/s this would bring, especially as the next round is at the start of the mad Christmas period.

Could also do without a game against City where we’d mostly play kids and Pep would put out a £200m defence just so he can point at another cup win when they get knocked out the CL again.

Some good run outs for some that won’t be regular starters but I’m glad we won’t be risking the likes of Mo and Virgil again.

Adrian was Outstanding, the back 4 was Outstanding so massive respect to the 2 William’s kids. Jota was out biggest threat all game, he was brilliant and was disappointed to see him get hooked.

Wilson was a Passenger all game, think he proved tonight why Klopp is happy to move him on.

Taki was quiet but has been class the last few weeks, hope he doesnt take the miss to heart as he has been on a steady incline recently.

Origi is dead in the water for me, Jota is a massive upgrade on him.

Imagine being an Arsenal fan, scraping past Liverpool Ressies and then drawing Man City

For me played very well. One of our better players on the night.

Anyway; I missed the match and haven’t seen any of it (quite possibly a good thing) but here are the results of the COG panel:

12 points: Grujic- had a good game by all accounts and, as I’ve said before, is well worth a spot in the squad.

Nul points: Everyone who has been slagging off Divock. We support our own; YNWA has a meaning, you know.

MOTM: Jean-Philippe Blondet. A fucking good chef. The meal tonight was superb.

If this results gives us a reason to smash them in the league so be it.

We already have. However, a second smashing would be good.

You’re over-simplifying it, I’m afraid to say. Nobody (I hope) thinks that he’s absolute shite; similarly, nobody (I hope) thinks that he’s Billy Liddell reincarnate.

The truth (as always) lies somewhere in between; my personal opinion is that he’s a valuable squad player and, unless he wants to move elsewhere for more regular starts, should be treated as such.

Slightly disappointed to go out of the cup as it means our youngsters and bench warmers lose out on game time and experience, other than that, not too fussed,i’m in the get out of it early and save ourselves for the League and CL camp.

As for the game, when we remove our main full back and forward threats, the drop off in quality is inevitable but over the last year or so,we are getting stronger when we do change the team like we did tonight.

Arsenal played a much stronger and experienced team than us when you look at who they put out,we had 4 youngsters who’ve hardly played for us,their 3 youngsters have a lot more first team time than ours, penalty shoot out aside,we still competed and were the slightly better team over all, posession, shots, attempts and passing stats,we lost on small margins,if Taki,Jota and Grujic finished their chances,we’d be in the next round but we aren’t,i’m not going to lose any sleep over it,let our main rivals waste their time and effort fighting eachother over the smallest of cups, while we save our energy for the biggest of titles.

An extra game in December for most of our rivals not a bad thing

I am sorry but you must have watched a different game to everyone else they set up to defend all game against our B team just like they did on Monday hoping to steal the game at the end of the game by introducing Lacazette but apart from Leno we had several chances and with a bit more luck would have beaten them at least 3:0 anyway we are quite happy to let all our rival play an extra game in December

I think he was pissed off to be on the bench even for such a game It would not surprise me if he missed his penalty on purpose to get a move I suppose it is better than biting somebody to get a move

I feel for Wilson. He didn’t look at all comfortable. The Boss was very complimentary of him after the match, saying he did a phenomenal job playing a new position all night, so maybe he will be staying after all.

It funny, I read Liverpool fans saying Wilson is “not good enough”, but then they turn around in the same breath and say “no way we accept less than £20M for him!” So which is it? He’s not good enough or he’s worth £20M?

The Pens. Make of Origi’s what you will. And maybe this is nit-picking but the stop/start technique almost seems cheating; See Maitland-Niles, who clearly was trying to make an ass of Adrian after it went in:

A bit disappointing as a game worth playing is worth winning, but that is the way it goes.
Origi doesn’t seem to want to be here, piss him off.
I’d not toss Wilson yet,And I think I would hold fire on Grujic.
He could be OK.
MOTM would have to be Jota,he is looking pretty useful.

The game started…pass it to Millie, supose, Arse wished it that way…
Neco was strugling…
Tnen we went to…pass it to Diogo, and the gamr changed 180°. This Leno guy saved some shit…
Second half- Neco was superb, best on the pitch
Rhys W. Is a real prospect, truly talented, quickly corected his foibles from rhe Lincoln game, didn’t falter after 60’
Millie can’t be playmaker anymore, can be useful,
Taki, as much as I wish him to be great at LFC- The PL is tough for him
Now, Curtis… The way I see his future at LFC…there can be, if he becomes our new Hendo. He has a talent, but …At his position at the moment is pretty crowded, and it will stay that way in the years to come…must adopt/learn leadership skills
Disapointed in Divock, think he missed it by not wanting to score…

Blimey…you dined at the Dorchester…sure you aren’t an alterego of Epsom Red?
