Post Match: Liverpool v Arsenal (EPL 9/4/23 4.30pm)

They are on course for a 92 point season. They’ve been excellent.

We should have had another penalty. Chances should have been taken. Shambolic in the first half for large parts. Rather frustrating we didn’t win. Simply we should have. Still languishing.

Probably VAR will see no reason to get involved, and that linesman will be back on the touchline next week. :joy:

What on earth happened with that? I only saw a short, edited clip of Robertson getting elbowed deliberately by the linesman?

You know what i mean.

Have no idea what brought it on. Bizarre.

The Andy miss was just Andy being Andy. Darwin needs to do better when he has time to think.

But overall for me, after being two down, we fought back and here we are talking about how we should have won, which shows how good we played.

This game has brought on a few interesting observations.

  1. Is VVD guilty of complacency? The first 30 minutes for him is an absolute nightmare. Failed to remind everyone where they are suppose to be and also ending up marking no one for Jesus’ goal. He may need some competition where Gomez and Matip are simply not good enough to give him realistic competition at LCB.

  2. Our Midfield. The first 30 minutes were horrible in terms of midfield pressure. There was no press or anything. After 30 minutes, Hendo was instructed to press on their LB while Konate will deal with Martinelli, giving TAA the chance to go central or on the right overlap. That gave TAA the chance to do what he is so good at. Attacking and crossing.

  3. Pressing from the front. It is kinda clear now our forwards has no idea how to press properly, even Salah has no idea how to do it. Our best presser has lost his pace and will leave the club in the summer. It is something we need to look at via training as most of transfer kitty will have to be focused on CM and DM.

  4. Finishing. Salah is our best finisher and yet he only came out of the game with a goal. Missed one penalty as well. Seems to have too much pressure on him leading the forwards. As for Nunez, he needs to stop overthinking, improve his first touch a lot more and try a different type of shots.

we still have some pulse in us , first 40 min we were the usual poor team , late pressing , disorganized build up , lack of quality and the goals same pattern our full backs losing their man. 2nd half much better building , we could beat their press and created but we all know that we gave them more than one opportunity to counter and score the third and we showed the same vulnerabilities.
liked the change of trent position hopefully he can develop it more and improve and as carra said he doesn’t need to be the best defender but at least not be a liability .
Salha salha salha ffs should do better

Eeer, no. Every man and his dog was going null and void. Every man and his dog pitch up at Anfield and sing about Gerrard slipping and scousers signing on. We posted north of 90 points twice and every man and his dog laughed at us for doing so and still not being able to win it.

So no, let City win so someone else can know how it feels to be shafted and then perhaps the penny can finally drop so that the charges they’re up against can stick. Hope City nail em six and they collapse to lose the league on goal difference.

Another one wide of the mark.

The Trent assist came from Trent doing a traditional RB overlap so putting Hendo as a RB negates that positive trait. What we should be doing is getting a B2B RCM that is so dangerous offensively that it draws the opposing LCB to themselves, leaving Trent to take on the opposing LB and/or for Salah to exploit the channels.

That is what we should do in the future.

City pipping Arsenal isn’t going to make any difference to the outcome of the PL charges, whether they stick or not.

Some sourest of grapes here. Officials were shite as always, but Arsenal were good today and have been great all season. Brilliant keeper and some quality in attack. Fans were impeccable during the silence. Would love to see them beat the cheating bastards to the title
