Is Ramsay injured?

Another hard watch for the most part but that’s on the players rather than the manager.
Szoboslai’s fuck-up, VVD’s passive defending, Wirtz’s casual flick over the bar…all could have cost us on another day. The fact Dom was most people’s MOTM tells you all you need to know about everyone else.
I’m trying to warm to Slot because he’s not scared to voice his opinion on how we are treated by officials and opposition players but fuck me the football we’re playing is dull.

Who knows whether he would have tried it against a Prem team, also, it was disrespectful that we left the door open for the run through as we wouldn’t have done that against a Prem Team … not certain on that last bit though :face_with_tongue:

We were the same against teams under Jurgen, when teams sit deep, and the same can be said for all the top teams and in such situations you are mostly relying on individual brilliance or a mistake by the opposition.

I think what irks us is that we sometimes have the opportunity to break and we slow it down allowing the opposition to settle.

However, we do lack willing runners in and around the box, although the 3rd goal was brilliant example of what to do pass & MOVE!

Oh and another way is to blatt it in from 30yds ala Szob.

Four very nice goals. Other than that, it was still quite a pathetic display of football from Liverpool

A pathetic display would have led to a loss :see_no_evil_monkey:

News on Rio appears in be it is just cramp. Let’s hope so. I was very impressed with him. Not the best of opposition, but his dribbling reminded me of Diaz.

pathetic maybe the wrong choice of words, but it was quite a worrying return to earth trying to beat two banks of five.

there were some positives, but we dont want to return to the days of ‘im ok if we play shite because we won’…

should never be an option for this club…oh…im not denying you can have an off day on a day like today, the issue is the template looked exactly the same vs premier league opposition…

oh yeah, and for all the ‘not a penalty’ we all thought at first glance, i think its a lot closer than we want to believe, hes got a full fist of the guys shirt and falls into him…the feet werent the issue…

him and Frimpong have that burst of pace from stationary style… which can lead to issues, they virtually stop the ball, and slow the play, so they can take the defender on over the first five yards… its got its place, but as a default option…on one occassion Rio kept the ball moving and it was a great move…

Apart from the usual issues, the attitude of some of the players stunk. Van Dijk didn’t bother to do much defending, Szoboszlai with the moronic back heel, most of the rest playing at walking pace. At some point it’s understandable, but you hate to see complacency set in even against a League 1 team.

And I can totally understand their manager’s reaction. It was patronising and disrespectful from Szoboszlai and he wasn’t alone in how he treated the game.

Yes a one trick pony. You need more options like Mané offered, keep them guessing. At least he passes and crosses more than Gakpo.

You’re really fixating on the negatives here. We also scored 4 lovely goals. Wirtz also changed the game when he came on. Dom was also brilliant apart from his brain fart. According to BBC, ‘the first PL player this season to score a goal, complete 100+ passes (105) and win possession 10+ times (12) in a single match’

Someone show or name a manager of ours or our close opposition that has nailed down how to beat a low defensive block, that also looks to counter when the opportunity at pace, I’ll wait with baited breath.

It been a problem under many managers, and one that has compelled better ones that Slot to throw out systems that have worked in search of a solution.

I’m hardly a great tactician, but one thing I do know is that if you struggle to break down a low block, then don’t let the opposition settle into one. It is no good complaining that teams are hard to break down when we turn our noses up at going for the throat while teams are in transition and out of shape.

The number of times we win possession and have the chance to attack a ragged back line, only to stop, wait for the opposition to set themselves and then start passing the ball across our defence is truly maddening, and it comes down to bravery. Once we have to ball we don’t want to risk losing it.

Great reply, but it seems as I was saying in another topic that we have lacked pace to have an effective break, prime Mo and Sadio are a great miss in this effect.
