Post match: Liverpool v Brighton (EPL 3/2/21 8.15pm)

Totally agree. These guys have proved they are ‘mentality monsters’ over 3 years. There’s no doubting their character. External factors have killed us

Thiago gets a 5 in player ratings on This is Anfield site. Putting style ahead of substances so guess they must be wrong too.

Jota possibly out for at least another month, Mane a doubt for City makes sending Mini out on loan look a bit strange.

I feel Jota will be back for the CL to be honest. He’s saying 2,3,4 I think it’s between the two.

I hope so but you normally find we us we under estimate length of injuries.

As I watched the first half I thought we might go through the gears second half, like at West Ham, and run out comfortable winners. Instead it remained ponderous. We didn’t get Brighton turned, we didn’t move them about enough. Our passing was slow and in front of them, for the most part.

Frustrating.

Not an overreaction, but we need to get our crap together or even top four might be in jeopardy. I think we will find enough to finish top four, and then beyond that, I’m hoping we find some magic for Europe, as I’d love to win old big ears again, especially after a season like this one, where everything has gone wrong,

i asked it in the in match thread and ill ask it here again
did Origi touch the ball at all?

Do you feel Klopp got his formation right tonight, especially with the players we started with?

That is what I questioned him about it seemed we were 442 with a diamond against West Ham and it worked, whereas today he went with 433 and we looked devoid of ideas and movement.

They are normally woeful on their player ratings and Redmen TV gave him 6 with Chris Pajak thinking a 7 and Chris is switched on tactically as a presenter, stop beating this drum, obvious you don’t like him!!!

Did do a great tackle on Robbo on the edge of their box and passed it into the stands.

Yes he took it off Robbo to put in out for a goal kick with an easy pass on to Trent, watch Trent’s reaction with the pass, although Divock wasn’t the only player to play woeful passes today

Dan Burn is such an underrated defender IMO and he was simply stellar tonight. He did some job on the left. Proper credit where it’s due.

He defies modern football with his marauding runs. 6 ft 7, the man is made for centre back. Somehow is in our box providing width most of the game. Don’t think he’s ever scored though given his height. I do like him though, can’t remember him get totally destroyed by a nippy winger this season

No I don’t, not with the team he started with. Also couldn’t see what our tactics were to be honest. Felt very pedestrian and risk averse football.
I think getting Henderson playing alongside Thiago, even if Fabinho stays as a defender will make a big difference. Jota can’t be back quick enough for me. Makes intelligent runs along the line for the diagonal ball to be played in behind the defence.
I think Jota will benefit from Thiago and Thiago will benefit from Jota.

toothless home performance from the lads. losing hurts, lads need a right kick up their butts for being so un-champions like

Totally agree on Hendo

Where you reckon the team and injury leaks are coming from? Literally every week I see one specific person with leaked team sheet and it’s always right. I posted it here one week (and it was right) but I never did again bc I felt terrible about it. The injury news has been oddly leaking. Then the news about Ali today.

It’s wrong and it’s downright disrespectful. It was cleaned up pretty well and been fairly tight the last couple seasons. It hasn’t been this bad since Brendan. Strange that, Chris Morgan is back.

They’re basically just fans like us.

He got the formula right in the West Ham game then completely changed it here.

Henderson and Nat gave us a solid base at the back, so right to continue. Then Gini should’ve been in the 6, with Thiago and Curtis ahead (Klopp already said after WH game that Milner was feeling a twinge in his hamstring and thus couldn’t sprint. Also this was his fouth start in a row).

Then Shaq in the tip of the diamond with Salah and Bobby up top, which would allow short interchange of passes between the lines.

Instead, we got Shaq trying to do a Mane and completely failing. Then we got a roulette wheel of swapping positions of Shaq, Bobby and Mo, without really changing the formation.

Mo and TAA were at least interchanging passes on the right, but Shaq was AWOL and not doing the same with Andy.
