Post match: Liverpool v Brighton (EPL 3/2/21 8.15pm)

We cannot win the league without yhe quality players we are missing through injury.
4 first choice CBs missing tonight.
Keita, Mane and Jota and our keeper.

There is no club who would have 8 potential starters missing in a crucial game and expect to win. City have the squad, they have the money, they will win the league.

All things being equal, then yeah. We might have a look at Shaqiri and Ox. Maybe Keita.

But things are not equal. Coronavirus has fucked football, and we’re not getting anything for any of those players, because no-one has any money, and no-one knows what players will be worth when the dust settles.

Talk of selling 4-5 lads to fund a rebuild is utterly delusion. Even more so with the injury prone ones. We can’t just stick our fingers in our ears and go la la la.

Sometimes, you just have to admit, on the night the better team won. Brighton fully deserved the points, they were excellent in defence and looked more dangerous than we did going forward. Kelleher was the busier of the two keepers, I don’t actually remember their keeper having to make a save.
Unacceptable performance tonight, there was no energy, didn’t move the ball quick enough and ran out of ideas in the end.

This one’s on Klopp in my book. Not for the selection but the tactics that yet again fail to break down a low block. It’s not a personel issue its tactics, pure and simple. I lost count of the times that we had the ball level with the corner of the 18 yard box and either stuck in pathetic cross or played inside and then tried to play through the middle.

Sorry, love Klopp to bits but he’s bombed on this. We’ve now dropped points against 5 of the bottom 6 in the league and got beat by United who play the same way.

Teams that try to attack us will usually get burn by our attack. Teams that play like Brighton, Burnley and all other teams that sit back and counter us will usually get something from us. That’s the theme for our season . Previous years we had Gomez pace and VVD colossal figure to mask a lot of our vulnerability. It’s unreasonable to think our defense can keep the same performance without our two mainstay CB in the line up. One think I do have an issue with our tactics is our stubbornness in sticking with a system that doesn’t work against these low block teams. We need to be creative and unpredictable to beat these teams. Most of our opponents uses the same blueprint in their setup to nullify our attack. Yet we are continuing to play into our opponents hand. That’s not acceptable.
We loss today because we didn’t play quick enough. We are too patient with the ball, and we should’ve been more direct with our possession. Whenever Brighton attacked, they we’re always threatening, they moved the ball quick and always had runners to go behind our backline. I know our setup deprives defender when the other team counters, but there was ample situation where we could’ve play quicker when we were on the counter.
I’m really hoping our new CBs can come into the team quickly so Fab and Hendo can go back to their usual role in midfield. We miss them dearly in Midfield this year.

It’s been a rollercoaster year, and it’ll continue to be a rollercoaster year till the end. Let’s not turn on our team and lower our expectations for this year.

On to City and it’s gonna be a good fight against them always…

Not rebuilt needed. We need one forward and our injured players back, and we should be good
for next season.

Feast or famine these days innit. Well, mostly famine tbh. Never going to win unless shots are on target and this seems to have become a theme over the last month. Mo had two really presentable chances and should have done better. Bobby somehow always seems to shoot when he’s out of position and then bumble around when in a good one.

Jota can’t come back soon enough, he’s been as big a miss as the defenders we’re missing.

Started badly and then got worse. Not a single shot on target in the last two games. Just seem not arsed when playing at Anfield.

Spurs and West Ham played a bit of attacking football which allowed us in behind, Brighton defended very well and our attacking was pedestrian.

No like 5 lads need to go and 2/3 should be brought in. That’s serious enough in a squad of 18

Think one more forward is needed and a Gini replacement imo

In our defensive crises, Klopp has limited the forwardness of Andy and TAA. They’re playing more constrained. In this match, the width was meant to be offered by Salah and Shaq, with teh latter doing nothing of note.

We’d have been better if Shaq was the number 10, and then allowing Andy and TAA to be their usual selves stationed mostly in the opposition half. This would;ve allowed Salah to then come in more and makes runs, for the midfield to try to pick out.

Speaking of the midfield, needed one of them to break the lines rather than passing short.

Why carp about CBs for a month and then not play at least one to release Hendo back into MF?

Klopp, is in his sternest test here.

Discombobulated.

I’m logging off to do something else. Anything else.

Be nice to each other. And remember our boys who have given us so much, before putting the boot in. They all look like they need a hug to me.

Just remind me of City last year… win a few lose a few then look great again and then pow look like an amateur team. can’t beat well drilled teams that sit back as theres no space in behind and o tempo to the game.

Top 4 is a must and would take 2nd now but we have players coming back into fitness and could possibly go on a winning run of 8 games…

Fingers crossed

I’m not saying he’s the issue. I’m just saying for the hype he does very little he may be neat and tidy but that’s it.

We’re not getting anything for them. We’re just not.

Klopp messed up in this game, and I’ll admit to that. But your comment is worthy of a hall of shame post.
