It all went to shit when Keita and Thiago cannot sustain a period of complete fitness eh? It’s not something we didn’t know from last season.
To ask a young lad who is just 18 years old coming from the championship to replace a seasoned veteran who spent so many years in the top flight as a midfielder is really asking too much from Harvey Elliot. Same goes for Curtis Jones.

After all the midfield talk, just want to say well done Brighton. Went two nil down, fought back. They played well.
Graham Potter is making a very good case for himself to be in the running for a bigger job before too long.

true, even potters countenance has changed from when he first entered the league. he carries himself with a bit more swag. he knows he is a good manager
Thats not the point you were making you were intimating we hadn’t learnt from having no players for the positions.
We took a gamble that our injury prone midfield players would suddenly become un-injury prone….and letting the 1 guy who played every week go.
Drawing games really damages title chances and we’ve drawn a lot so far with 3 being at home.

Robertson and Jones were very poor, Robertson with his distribution and dropping we’ll behind the rest of the defence playing them onside and Jones for his overall lack of productivity.
Ox apart from the assist spent the whole game perfecting his party trick, which is running with the ball straight into their players.
Konate was dragged out of position far too easily and left VVD in a world of trouble.
Bobby had one of those games where you question if you can still make it as a pro footballer.
Issues in midfield that have been highlighted before were there for all to see.
Still, I feel we need to credit Brighton. They played very well and deserved their point, no question.
Considering it’s Halloween weekend, that was a bit of a horror show.

He would have to be clear of legal issues if what is being assumed is true.
The expectations that we have injury free world class players for all positions and back ups who are injury free and world class as well, and we don’t drop points at all is really wierd. We expect all of that and want things to do the right way as well.
Yes, we had three draws at home, but two of them were against City and Chelsea.
Is it just me really who think things aren’t really this bad and we are overreacting?

Let’s just focus on our CMs as DM is well-stocked with Hendo and Fabinho.
I mentioned before that Keita and Thiago are very injury prone. You then have James Milner who is closing on retirement. That makes it 3 players that you need to game-manage. Any of this 3 players gets injured, the quality in midfield drops like a damn cliff. If all 3 gets injured, we are in serious trouble.
That leaves you with AOC, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot and Tyler Morton to rely on day in, day out in the BPL. Now with Elliot injured till god-knows-when, you have AOC, Curtis Jones and Tyler Morton left. Hand on heart, would you field AOC and Curtis jones in the same midfield?
Right now, the worse case scenario has happened. Keita has gone off earlier for this match, Thiago is not fit, Elliot is done for at least 3/4 of the season, Milly is injured for 3-4 weeks.
That’s 4 midfielders gone with at least 3 that we know needs to be managed carefully. If this isn’t a good case study of poor succession planning, what is?

That is why I advocated looking for a player as physically dominating and technically similar to Bissouma , but cheaper…
@Colossal_centre_back Is Gini considered truly world-class in his club football career? He has nothing on Thiago/Xavi/Iniesta/Xabi Alonso in terms of quality but he puts in at least half of that quality consistently for the entire season.
I believe if Thiago and Naby don’t get fit soon, it will be kinda beyond his ability. He will be stuck with AOC and Jones as CM options.

I felt that we stopped playing once Naby went off. Lots of players were out of sorts today. We probably got away with one IMO. Our unbeaten run goes on and the point at least keeps us within one win of the leaders. I’m in no way trying to make excuses but their second goal came from a throw in that should have been ours. Overall the officiating was really poor today.

yes… i agree…Naby tryin to run around like gini and ends up hurtin himself
Not quite the same though. Keita runs around to break the opposition line, Gini runs around to prevent others from breaking our line.
