Post match: Liverpool v Brighton (EPL 30/22/21 3pm)

You shouldn’t have posted that, Ox was shit.

A large part of the problem is although we have plenty of midfielders, several are injury prone to some degree.

I knew Fab was inching closer to injury after playing a lot of games leading into the 3 he had for Brazil. He simply can’t handle a high workload and takes a while to come back from injury, followed by a relatively long time to hit full fitness again.

Thiago seems to take ages to recover from an injury. Whenever Milly has a relatively high workload he seems to do a hammy. Milly’s injury in the Man Utd game was caused by over stretching for one of Robbos atrocious passes.
Keita seems to have turned a corner, but lets see how he goes after this latest setback.

Wasn’t there today but when I have been it’s been weirdly flat this season. Even the City game lacked the intensity of recent seasons. Not sure why. Leaving early, especially when we’re struggling, is absolutely unforgivable and Klopp needs to call people out for it.

I really felt our major problem was VVD having an off day and he and his partner being real fucking dopes at times. Their 1st goal Konaté is nowhere in the picture (à la Lindelof) 2nd goal VVD quits the line and goes on walk about. Both were getting dragged out of position far too easily all game.
As for the midfield they put in a real effort and looked shagged yet Klopp wouldn’t make the subs which made the last 15 minutes very difficult.
Btw nothing worked for Firmino and the Jota sub should have come 15 minutes earlier at least (whilst the midfield still had something left in their legs).

Add to that, Trent going MIA defensively and Robbo out of form.

Agreed, but fair to say it wouldn’t have been pretty had there been too much comment on the poor areas of our game against Utd in the post match thread after a 5-0 win!

Trent has no equal as an attacking full back but defensively he definitely does…I guess you can’t have both in one player

I see Milly there almost exclusively for his leadership and versatility. As long as he is happy he may only play a handful of games, a lot of which are cup matches.

Not disappointed with Curtis and Ox.

We had 8 outfield players who were rested in midweek so that they can go the extra mile at the weekend. Didn’t feel like that for a second in the second half.

The games we’ve won this season were because of our players quality.

2019 mentality monsters would have won 2 or 3 of the 4 draws we had. That bullshit is gone for now.

Klopp spoke about body language after the game - rightly so.

Personally I thought we looked cooked and we have a shocking run of games coming up. 7 in 29 days.

Mane was exceptional today. By that I mean his work rate all over the pitch. Love that guy when he plays like that.

Said it for a while now, we can’t defend. Any pressure results in goals. It’s a team thing, midfield isn’t protecting the defence and we’re being exposed badly. We desperately need Fabinho back.
Today the crowd was bad, Bobby was fucking dreadful, the midfield bar Henderson was wank and for some reason JK was happy for it to play out to it’s inevitable conclusion.
Dean is a cunt. Every time he refs us at Anfield we concede a dodgy goal. Henderson was giving him dogs abuse after their first goal and at full-time but as usual nobody else gave a fuck, even Klopp just shook his hand and said nothing.
Midfield needs to improve massively on Wednesday or we’ll get stuffed.

I might be mistaken, but I think you’re the first to mention Mike Dean’s performance. I agree he was poor, he seemed to give Brighton a lot. And I’m not using that as an excuse, Brighton deserved to get a result.
I don’t understand the crowd today, especially after that result against the mancs, you’d expect them to be well up for it.

Was watching the highlights on match of day and what the hell are we doing for the leveller? VVD is all over the place, no idea where konate is and Robbo well….no idea.

It’s like we have too many cbs now and we are changing them for changing thems sake. First choice is Matip VVD for me.
It’s why I’m surprised Matip started against Preston as today I’d play him and weds then konate can deal with Antonio on Sunday.

I still think the Brighton 1st goal is a fluke and a miss hit cross. But they deserve their point. Could’ve had 3. Their offside goal is really tight.

Could say exactly the same about Salah’s goal.

I was in&out of sleep during this match after a short few hours last night. From what I saw, our midfield was seriously shit. Too many players made of glass.

Jones was a limp dick in the midfield, and Ox not much better. You could see the difference that Keita loss made, it was almost palpable.

Thiago, Milner and Fab just too big a loss in the middle of the pitch. Jones and Ox don’t know how to read the play.

I can understand the calling for an extra #6 player over the transfer window now. We are deficient in the middle of the park at matchday 10…

They were there after the games v Brentford, City, Atletico and Utd.

Without the ball our midfield was non existent. Brighton cut through us at will all game. Keita going off injured exasperated that.

From what I can recall it was Robertson who was behind everyone else for both goals.

I agree had Mane released the ball two touches earlier Salah’s goal wouldn’t have been offside as for Curtis and Ox they loved running with the ball. They need to apply what they do in training move the ball without controlling the ball.
