Post match: Liverpool v Brighton (FAC 14/2/26 8pm)

I’ve just watched the highlights. It looked from that to be a fairly controlled match, although we appeared a little on the back foot after the first goal. Is that fair?

Incidentally, it was the Match of the Day coverage, and the commentator made some comment about Salah picking his time to go down for the penalty. Yeah, after being repeatedly fouled and subjected to the force of gravity. Couldn’t they point out how rare it is for him to be awarded a free kick when fouled?

I had a poor ‘stream’ however both teams seemed to have their moments in an open game with out low blocks.
We had a ‘poor’ start Brighton dominating. Then we looked the much better team despite a poor press. Brighton had moments after each of our goals. They also seemed to become very frustrated not surprisingly considering the very poor ref.

I think Dominik looks really handsome in his red vest.
Just saying, he looks lovely. I’ll just see the interview again with my cuppa :joy:

Highlight for me was Salah who looked something like his old self. If he can keep this up for the rest of the season then good things might come of it.
All in all a comfortable win and Dom’s goal was brilliant. Salah, Kerkez and Ibou my MOTM.

The bit just before he won the pen (and it was a pen, braindead pundits) where he squared up the left back and just pushed him over was brilliant.

Christ, we could really do with him coming into a bit of form.

You want Dom to dunk his biscuit?

It’s getting a bit steamy in here…

Some observations of the cup weekend,
Some goals given that were offside,
Some goals disallowed that weren’t offside
A 100% certain penalty in the Newcastle game that wasn’t given.
A truly terrible refereeing display at Anfield even though we won at a canter
And though we all grumble about it VAR would have corrected the poor decisions.
And we need to extend Soz’s contract as soon as possible.

Really? I hardly even noticed him which normally means he had a decent game..

Without help from VAR he was a lot better than most with it…

I missed the first 20 or so minutes so cannot comment on what went before but after that, we seme to generally play well. The defence was a 8/10, the midfield was 7/10 and the attack, probably and 8/10 also. Salah seems to be finding a bit of spark and even Gakpo played well. A good team effort.

I thought he was whistle happy and didn’t let the game flow.

Who is this person…perhaps we’ll never know…

I wouldn’t mind :see_no_evil_monkey: :joy:

Okay, err…where were we. Nice to see Mo smiling and happy after a long time. :folded_hands:t4: :slightly_smiling_face:

I have the feeling they now rely on VAR so when it’s not there they are lost.
I thought the referee was poor and contributed to tensions and frustration rising. Also at least one of the linesmen definitely needs to go to see an opthalmologist.

You missed the 20 minutes where we struggled. It looked very poor for a moment. Nothing out of the ordinary for us atm though. After that we were quite dominant.
It has to be said that Brighton wanted to play as well. So there was space to play football on the pitch.

That seems to be the common thread somehow. MC, Sunderland, Newcastle and now Brighton, all came to play and we were able to play well. I’m not sure how Forest will set up but they are at home so may try to play and we can continue to build some form as we get to the business end of the season.
