Post Match: Liverpool v Burnley (EPL 21/1/21 8pm)

why did Origi shoot so early and so far away from the goal?

Bobby has been poor no doubt, but he has plenty of credit in the bank, as have Salah and Mane. We already have Jota to come back, and we see high hopes with Elliot.

But we can upgrade someone like Divi. The one on one miss I would say is analogous to Adrian doing one of his gifts to the opposition. Can happen to all strikers, but when you are free in the Prem with no defender pushing at you, it’s like attempting a paneka penalty down the middle with the keeper standing upright.

Origi had so many options (go around, side foot, between the legs, carry it more forward, delay and use the free Mane), and that’s his weakness - he plays better off the cuff without having to think.

They should do is cover the trophy wall at Kirkby and make it clear to everyone that our new home starts with a clean slate of trophies.

watched City maul these guys.

Our game is too central to be as effective vs Burnley

Needed to play wide and STAY wide; and especially not rely too much on the high cross.
Not nearly enough movement

Honestly, it’s the perfect time to lose a game, but more important to recover and fight for a good place, even for a trophy.
It’s January, and we can do it. Let’s have faith.

It’s true, our 3 front strikers are out of form, Salah seems thinking in other place, Firmino wasn’t a goal machine and Mane is trying but not with major things done.
Somehow, Its hard for them too, with midfield always changing, with defenders like they are… Or are not.

In summer we need to sell some players like Origi (if we are not playing it… Ofc he can’t show something. Having a lot of claims is not correct.), Keita (always injuries - we need a constant player) and buy fresh blood.

It’s felt like there has been a narrative to this whole season ever since Mane’s goal was chalked off against Everton. Too many tiny 50/50 moments that have gone against us in almost every game.

I hadn’t expected us to be winning the league this season, even more so after losing VVD and after losing Gomez I really thought we’d be lucky to get top 4. However I don’t think Klopps reactions have helped us either, more like he mad a bad situation worse by being too defensive at times.

In summary, not replacing Lovren it the main factor that has cost us this season, even keeping him I believe we would be way better off than we currently are. Playing Fabinho in defence means we’re missing such an important cog in the middle and has a much bigger knock on effect than we can truly see.

Finally, I believe if Origi put that chance in the back of the net we would have won this game, and the penalty was one of the softest I’ve seen for a while

Would love for them to get their mojo back against Jose’s bus and spank them 5-0.

Firmino is always an option and I’m not suggesting we sell. But our style of play is limited and we lack a plan B when the wingers can’t make space. Bobby isn’t a target man - our options off the bench when jota isn’t about are appalling.

I already feel better.

We’ll be right. They have never given us any reason to doubt them, the current four-week horror show notwithstanding.

Bad result, but maybe something that was needed to reset our season. If Origi scores then you would expect us to win, im not putting this down to Origi because all players miss.
Alot of our players are not clicking, thats plain to see, these moments happen with all teams. Man City were underperforming, There was talk about Ole and Arteta getting sacked, Spurs were top, Lampard’s Chelsea were contenders.
I am gonna take this result on the Chin and at the same time look at the fact that form is temporary, we have class players whom have not become bad over night. I think Utd in cup will be big, but i believe we have it in us to turn this around!!

No crowd is 100% definitely a factor.
Look at west ham, they’re loving playing at home and not being called cunts by their own fans every 5 minutes.

Yeah, that’s what’s happening, plus big injuries and probably empty grounds aren’t the best to keep your motivations high. Another thing in common is we’re playing our best DM in defence like they’ve done with Fernandinho last year, although they had other senior options, they just were deemed crap.

They finished 2nd and with a domestic cup, I’d take that all day right now.

Oh well, we start from scratch with realistic ambitions from here. The title race has just changed to a top four challenge.
Knock out the negativity, take the pressure off and let the lads play without the burden of being champions this year.
One game at a time…grind out the results

Think I need a sabbatical from this place for a bit.
Too many “fans” with pathetic posts. Way out of line. Too much screaming.

We’re playing crap. Too static, maybe Bob’s old adage ‘a player isn’ t finished when he leaves Liverpool, he’s just finished at Liverpool’ needs to come into play. Or ‘let a player’ s legs go on someone eles’ pitch.

But those who are doubting Klopp to get it right or pull us out of this slump need to get some perspective.

Finally Jafford is right about the officiating. We can be playing crap but still be shafted by the officials. We shouldn’t have to worry about bent refereeing.

We really miss the crowds. We thrive on the passion, especially under Klopp. One of the first things he did when he arrived was get the fans going. City are more cold and clinical, used to playing in a library. The team haven’t seemed themselves since the virus hit, Jurgen neither

Who are we due to lose against tomorrow?

Nothing changed with our subs tonight, I think we can safely say Curtis is better than the Ox and Neco is no worse than Trent.
