Post match: Liverpool v City (FAC Semi Final 16/4/22 3.30pm)

Definitely, but a back on form Mo is what is best for the team and so we’re invested in getting him out of his funk. If that means giving him some room to play his way out of it then we have to give that some consideration.

Superb first half to effectively kill the game, if you can say that against city. A somewhat lucky revival for city second half, but Liverpool were always in control. As good as the result was for us, can’t help feeling that city’s heart wasn’t 100% committed. They are desperate to win the PL and CL - especially the latter. A LFC v Man C CL final would be some game.

One of the best half’s of football I’ve seen this season from us, bar the two errors we also controlled the second. Not going criticise anyone I think they are did fantastically well.

City are a dangerous team and yet we probably should have hit a cricket score, scratch the surface and they haven’t got much depth have they?

Glad they highlighted Ederson got away with much the same thing last week, Alisson slipped on one but there was a lot of awareness to cover positions today really good game for Mane and Thiago.

Winning against $ity is always a pleasure. First half we were fantastic, second half was a stark reminder that we have to be concentrated and ready for 90 minutes. Absolutely dominant display in the first 45 minutes, full of confidence and quality.

Special mention for Keita, Diaz, Mane, Konate and Thiago. Trent was very, very good defensively and deserves a special mention too. Alisson’s distribution was poor /nervers maybe/, but overall played well, important save from Jesus and I can’t balme for the goals he conceded.

Robbo was really poor for a second consecutive game, guilty for both of their goals. Credit for his assist, but defensively he was subpar.

Salah once again had a poor game, but I won’t blame him. Clearly he needs a rest - physical and psychological, just to clear his head. In January and February he played 7 ACON matches, 4 of them were 120+ minutes. He lost the final and then lost the 2 legged decider vs. Senegal once again playing 120 minutes in the 2nd match, missing an inporatant penaly in the process.
He is just a human and needs a rest, playing him to death doesn’t help. Hopefully Klopp will understand that and will give him a rest when possible.

Hendo was also poor with his passing and lack of energy, much better when we use him in that defensive midfielder role. As I said we will need 2 midfielders next season and hopefully Naby will sign a new contract .At the moment we don’t have enough quality options from midfield and keeping Naby, Thiago, Fab and Jordan fit for the rest of the season is hugely important.

And one final criticism, losing concentration and letting opponents back in matches when we are comfortable and crusing is turning into a habit this season - losing 2 goals lead vs. BHA, Chelsea, Benfica and now letting City have a chance to send the game into extra time is unacceptable. Still have to remember that $ity were missing important players today - Walker, Ederson, Laporte, Dias, Rodri, De Bruyne, but afterall you can only beat what is in front of you.

Now the players must rest well and hopefully no more injuries /I saw Mane limping after the match and had ice on his foot/. And finally - in my opinion Oliver is the best English referee by a diostance, but today he was abysmal. Fernandinho, Cancelo and Silva did not stop kicking Diaz and Mane and he was only watching, while at the same time he did not hesitate to book Keita and Fabinho. That prick Fernandinho had to be sent off today, he committed 10+ fouls and he had a clear idea to injure one of our players. It was similar with Diaz, foul after foul and no fuckin booking.

First goal he made a bad pass that led to it. The second one was a mis control by Hendo that led to it but he was caught out of position.

I don’t understand why Hendo looked so leggy after coming on as a sub

Anyone claiming the disrupting of the minute silence was a small minority, go have a quick read through BlueMoon this eve.
I’m not going to post any of this shite here, but it runs from absurd excuses (fans somehow didn’t realise it was a minute silence or it was Chelsea supporters…) to outright defending it and questioning why they should be expected to respect a minute silence, especially when LFC can’t respect their scouting database or coach windows.
A minority perhaps, but not a small minority. It’s part of their identity.

City have like 100 fans world wide, the knobs at the game are probably those same people on bluemoon.

A very poor 2nd half , sloppy selfish and not good enough . at the end we won which is great but this a very worrying trend considering what happened at beneficia I, atletico madrid ,milan and today . This a is mentality issue, arrogant sloppy play when we are ahead . Ali saved our bacon like he did many times before.

I disagree, they had 2 spells all game which spanned around 2 minutes of play. Both from poor ball rentention by us. Otherwise we bossed them continually.

I was strangely confident before the game and especially seeing KDB was missing…

Bit cross at conceding that 2nd goal by being caught on the break so late…I bet JK was hopping mad…great game again though. Serious rivalry.

Should have been a walk in the park…and it was, apart from the players making us nervous on purpose :joy:

We controlled that game for 90% of it, of course City were going to come at us, but we were too damm good today.

City fans showed their true colours as fucking scum, so they deserved nothing and got nothing.

Yeah we could have knocked in about 3-4 in that second and they scored 2 of their 3 chances other than that I’m struggling to remember anything bar the minute or two around them.

Not complaining, but I feel Klopp walked a tightrope today in terms of substitutions. I felt we needed some fresh legs around the hour mark. Anyway, onwards and upwards, YNWA.

No mate - it’s appalling by the city fans who were booing. I think Oliver did the right thing to cut it short since it was being used to spread hate rather than honor the 97.

You could pick holes in that second half performance today but I can’t be bothered with all that. What this team is doing is fucking incredible. Another final to look forward to. These are the days. I’m just loving every second of it.

That first half was up there with that one when we won 3-0 that’s the thing we played so well, I’d say our second half was better than last week as well.

It flattered them, friends of other teams have said that to me. Konate needs to work better on that backline but we limited the “best team” in England to 3 chances.

I’m glad he reported it…one of he only things he did right this aft…

An eventful day for the CDO family. COYR YNWA :+1::nerd_face:

Totally agree, 1 cup in the bag, another final, in the semis of the CL and 1 point behind City for the league. It’s been an unbelievable season. If we miss out on any of the quadruple some will look back at points dropped etc but it’s honestly a pleasure to watch this team. Having Mane, Mo and Diaz start with Bobby and Jota coming on late on. Our back 4 with Tsimi, Joe and Matip on the bench, this squad is so good even Ole couldnt screw it up. To have Klopp as our manager is like having a cherry on the icing on top of a 25 tier cake, with strawberry syrup
