Was at the opposite end of the stadium. Heard them loud and clear - most noise they made all day. Not chelsea fans. Not stupidity/obliviousness(very clear announcement on the minutes silence made over the tannoy - everyone knew what was going on). Their club felt embarrassed enough to apologise before the end of the match. Tacky behaviour from fans. Any bullshit they’re spinning amonst themselves to excuse it is exactly that - bullshit.
Quality mate! I hope she’s not taking it too badly
Imagine beating City in the semi-final of a major tournament and your only thought is to immediately call one of our players awful.
Who actually wasn’t awful either
3-2 flattered them.
Mane brilliant. Thiago, Keita, Konate and Diaz very good too, lots of good performances today.
The most pleasing part for me is the evolution of our game. Lots of us had slight concerns about the big Wembley pitch. We thought City might boss the midfield and out pass us.
But nope, we actually did that to them.
Thiago offered a master class. Keita was excellent, and where I once wanted him to sign a new deal to preserve value, I now want him to sign because playing like this he starts in our best midfield. Fabinho was back to normal too, after a below par showing last time.
Our midfield was excellent, and we beat them playing football and passing well.
In addition to that our riches up front are a sight to behold. Mane was at his vintage best, Diaz showed why we love him already, and while Mo didn’t get a goal, it will come again for him.
Konate is blossoming into an amazing central defender - strength, size, pace, decent enough on the ball, and he is showing what a goal scoring threat he is now too. Matip has had a great season but he has a fight on his hands to get the shirt back off this lad.
On todays showing we looked better in all departments than Man City.
Not too shabby!
Mrs CDO is similar to me. Despite what Bill Shankly said. There’s more important things in life.
That said though, I’d have been gutted and sulking like a spoiled brat if the score was reversed.
A few chocolates tomorrow eh.
Salah needs to sit out the next game…he’s been awful the lately. He needs to know he’s not a guarantee starter. Awful. Just awful.
Yeah, TBF I wouldn’t have started him on Wednesday against Benfica.
Oh, wait.
Mrs CDO was in the City end.
Must have been lonely for her.
Make no mistake this was a superb performance all round. From Allison to Sadio every one played their part. Ok we let City into the game second half but these things happen when you play at the top level. Mo is really struggling to play at his usual standard but players go through this. Thought Thiago was immense for
Us today followed by Sadio who had a season best for us. Some tough games ahead but with some luck we certainly look able to take them all. I’m in the camp that thinks Mo needs a rest as we’ve got plenty of options up front. At the moment he has lost the spark and ability to score a goal and seems to continue to find the right pass. Gave my MOM to Sadio for two great goals.
I wonder if anyone asked where her hubby was…they wouldnt believe her…
I always think that is a pointless exercise. You can only be the best of your era. Send this team back in a time machine and they would run rings round those teams but only because they have had the advantage of the advancements in coaching and fitness regimes and modern playing surfaces.
Mind you, some might come back crocked after the Anfield Iron has put a few straighteners on them…
Thiago was brilliant for me.
His role in the third goal a fantastic illustration. Positioning, strength and a perfect pass.
Several times during the match he opened up play, somehow beat 2 city players in close proximity and made important tackles.
It was Manes best game in over a year (that’s the Mane I love to see) but Thiago was best player on the pitch.
I’m in the fifty year club as well, andhave to agree this is a great time to be a Red supporter.
A manager like Klopp with his very infectious enthusiasm helps a bit.
Though enjoyed Kenny’s first spell as well.
No complaints about this game, great first half,a couple of lapses in the second cost, but we beat the sods, that is what matters!
Naby continues to improve,or rather show what he can do,MOTM Naby, for me,but plenty of other decent performances.
Not on board with dropping Mo at all, even if he is having a rough patch, which he is,while ever there is a player like him out there the opposition are going to have him in their minds.
Agent Steffen? Tweet from Zack Steffen 10+ years ago when he was still a teenager.
Thought Nabby was excellent. Yesterdays Nabby was the Nabby we thought we were signing.
Maybe it helped playing in with Thiago and Fab but that 3 is our strongest midfield at moment.
You could easily flip the equation, though. How good would the legends of yesteryear been with modern training and diets?
‘want some more Kale and spinach shake with whey protien to go with your quinoa salad Mr Smith?..Mr Smith?..Mr Smith i hardly think thats appropriaahhhhhhhh my arm’
Time for Robbo to rest and let Tsimikas have a run ?
