Post match: Liverpool v Leeds (EPL 1/1/26 5.30pm)

Slot: “If you look at football then you see two ways of unlocking a low block. You need to pace, you need to be quick and dominate your one-on-one situations or you need a set-piece. We were close with a set-piece through Virgil and close a few times with Jeremie on one-on-ones.”

Been saying this for ages. We lose whatever shape we have as he just runs everywhere. At one point moved out left when Rio and Gakpo were already there. Everyone standing on top of each other

there is another way…

you could draw them out by just knocking it around the back , into midfield, out wide, back through the centre…maybe even use the keeper aswell…

stand static in line with their low block, and wait patiently, someone will probably move at some point then strike like a viper… :grimacing:

Yeah Gakpo and Kerkez doesn’t work at all.

might have been instructional..

Maybe having Rio, Gakpo and Kerkez on the left wasnt quite enough?

Games can often be decided by single incidents.

Hugo’s choice to stay on his feet has effectively cost us 2 points.

That might sound unfair to him, and is a completely fucked state of affairs, but it’s true. He couldn’t have known at the time that this incident would decide the game, but that’s the way it is.

He’ll need to learn to dive.

Are you kidding me😊

Throwing all the attackers on and losing our shape has been a recurring theme this season when we’re not winning.

It isn’t Chiesa’s fault, that’s for sure.

Actually, that sounds more exciting than the game.
Hope he/she is feeling okay now?

Another five points and we’ll avoid relegation.

What a load of old cobblers!
Getting used to it this season,2026 has not started well!

Xhaka just conned the ref into giving him a free kick because it was easier to throw himself in the floor than try to pass his way out of pressure.

Commentary: “Xhaka did there well. Was clever to go down as soon as he felt contact from Halaand”

Grass is always tasty…until you have to clean up the end product.

He wasn’t impressed with Slothball.

You also need the manager to be willing to commit players into the box.

What Leeds were doing today was the ‘softest’ type of Low Block. Slot should be happy he never played against Prime Mourinho, Simeono, Dyche - let alone Pulis or Allardyce.

Clueless, no direction. Even the players looked confused at times. This is not a Liverpool team. That said, when teams come to defend it’s hard to play champagne football.
