Exactly, he was the wrong choice from the beginning
Recently, we went from touching distance to all 4 major trophies and won 2. It has taken its toll mentally on the players. Also, it has to be something up in the medical department and FSG not spending for more reinforcements in the summer that has been a major detriment to the team.
The Klopp out (tiny minority) base are tunnel vision. It will be very hard to fill in those big shoes, whoever comes after Klopp, so I would rather Klopp stay and try and diminish the mess and rebuild the team again until his contract ends.
WellâŚwe save some time every Saturday/Sunday night not watching MoTD
Itâs worth pointing to Pepâs Barca. The focus on possession masks how hard their midfield worked off the ball, both defensively to win it back in a high press and to make good passing options. No one would ever mistake Xavi or Iniesta for natural athletes, but they were capable of putting the work in. Until they werenât.
Yes, you need a player who is going want to put the work in, so in that regard you need the right sort of player, because lots of players simply wont do it. But that doesnât mean we need workhorses or that talent will make us lightweight. To that point, Thiago was the prize pupil of that brand of football and of one the worldâs best proponents of it for years after following Pep to Bayern. Elliot runs his socks off. If weâre losing the running battle while theyâre on the pitch, or even running enough but not organized enough, its far more because, respectively, their legs have less in them or their brain hasnât had enough put in it yet to read the timing and spacing of the press than because weâve traded pressing and work for talent. The two can and has coexisted.
Itâs really baffling that there is any debate. It was a bad choice of pass even if Alison was standing exactly where he passed it to. Even if Alison is still in the middle of his goal, the right pass is still way wide of the near post. Playing it to where Joe did makes the danger of being charged down way higher, especially because it is going to his weaker foot. But all that ignores that he fucking passed it to no one. Ali wasnât where he blindly passed the ball to.
Our squad last year was bloated due to covid preventing us unloading a couple of players. The result was we frequently had senior internationals on the fringe of the group who failed to even make the match day squad. Talking about replacements for them completely misunderstands their role in the squad. If anything the issue was less not replacing Origi or Taki, but in not pushing more out of the door to bring in new faces to replace those.
Alisson literally fucking falls over, and then apologises to his team for the goal. If he doesnât fall over, then he sweeps that ball and plays it out to Virgil or Andy.
I suppose it was Sakhoâs fault that Gerrard slipped, as well.
And anyone who thinks Alisson is only apologising to take the heat of Gomez, can do one. Thatâs the same category as âKlopp only says heâs happy with his squad to protect FSGâ.
Tell Alisson then. He seems to think itâs his fault.
I think they really rushed Fab back for the final. He hasnât been the same since.
Why? I mean, why would he?
And Klopp doesnât just defend the owners from criticism. This summer he was getting really fucking angry at suggestions we needed a midfielder, going over and over again on how much he backed his lads, and then admitted he got it wrong very late in the window (which I suspect was an apology to people at the club rather than fans btw).
Because he had to suddenly change direction to chase a pass that went to no where near where he was.
We may as well use the league to try some things now. Lets see Trent in midfield - since he pretty clearly wants it - bin Fabinho off, give Ramsay a run at RB, go with a 4231, make Salah a CF full time etc. See if we can find some formulas that will work for the second half of the season.
This used to be a Man Utd meme
Mate, respect a lot of what you say, but youâre clearly and obviously wrong here. Alisson slips because Gomez plays a blind square pass 10 yards in front of him
Its that classic case of bittom dweller funk. Cant beat them but give the big teams a game. Watch us demolish spurs next week.
Careful heâll tell you to do one like he did with me and others who questioned the pass Gomez squared to the Leeds player
There is literally nothing positive to take from that performance tonight. I gave Robbo a vote for MOTM but nobody else deserved one.
On the 1st goal I blame Gomez regardless of what Alisson has said, looks to me like he plays it blind and you just canât do that even if he gets a shout. Not sure Alisson would have got to it even if he hadnât slipped.
Defending for the 2nd was fucking diabolical, basically 5 or 6 players ball-watching with no pressure on the opponent at any point.
People often use the term âgreat cameoâ to describe a playersâ contribution from the bench, well we saw the exact opposite of that when Jones came on. For me he has until May to prove he has a future here.
I said a few days back only Harvey Elliott could be sure of a midfield role next season and that still holds true.
The WC canât come soon enough even though I wont be watching a fucking minute of it.
You have to be a pretty big dumb, stupid, foolish, fickle person to put any blame on Ali for that first 1.
He put one hand on his heart and the other in the air - the recognised gesture for âdonât blame me, it was the fucking centre backâ.
It looks a lot to me like he slips because heâs lost concentration in a key moment and is caught out. If heâs alert he mops that up. Joe isnât the first player to put a pass a couple yards either side of the idea spot and make his team mate work, and he wonât be the last - but an alert goalkeeper sweeps that up.
The end of the debate is Alisson owning the mistake and apologising. If people are making up shit like âAlisson only apologised to protect Joeâ thatâs an agenda talking.
So Ali is dumb, stupid, fickle and foolish?
