For not buying another midfielder when Tchouaméni chose Real. Waiting for the last moment and getting a not fit and injury-prone Arthur who is, surprise surprise, injured.
I am starting to worry now. Our midfield is tired and needs a change of sorts.
If FSG don’t start to invest in the next 2 transfer windows, i can see the fanbase screaming at the them and sharpening the knives.
This is horrible. The substituition did not make us any better defensively or offensively. Jones was absent after the first 5 minutes of coming on. Milner is worse. Couldn’t even make a tactical foul nowadays!
As for the defence, it is time we ask questions about the CBs. Gomez has literally a brainfart every other game. I expect Konate to replace him very soon. VVD seems to be lost as well and not doing tackles as often as he should.
As for our midfield and its currently available options, we looked like a team placed in the bottom half. Elliott is young but is still learning the trade defensively. AOC is fragile as fuck and seems to lost that bit of footballing brain. Curtis Jones doesn’t have the physicality to play midfield and looks like he is not going to make it as a CM at any top 5 team. Keita is frozen out for some bizzare reason. Fabinho looks leggy. Hendo is slowly losing his legs and looks lost at RCM. Thiago is good but very fragile.
It’s no wonder we looked goosed at midfield.
A lot of people will need to pay for the price of not properly rejuvenating the midfield if we don’t have CL next year.
On the flip side, our team is not gonna have a lot of players playing or starting in the world cup.
That’s the most absurd thing you’ve ever said, and trust me it’s a very strong field.
Nat Phillips looks good at the end of 19/20 because we dropped the line ten yards, put the football match ahead of him. The entire team changed to accommodate him.
There isn’t a single attribute as a football player that Nat Phillips scores over Gomez, apart from heading the ball while wearing a big fucking bandage and looking groggy.
And I’ve defended Nat in the past. Lovely lad, does what he does really well. Better on the ball than he’s given credit for. Bonus points for knobbing Liam Gallagher’s daughter. But the idea he is better than Joe Gomez is utterly fucking ridiculous.
On Gomez performance. As soon as Leeds get that goal, you know the daggers are going to be put with relish, but it’s Alisson’s mistake. And that’s what Alisson thinks as well
After that he puts in a decent performance. There are a few loose balls, which is par for the course, and a few really good ones. He does nothing to warrant the dog’s abuse he gets. Put it this way, if you are minded to put the boot into a Centre Back tonight, Joe Gomez should be the first one on your list.
Baby. Bath water. And all that.
@Mascot has already outlined above it’s the midfield that needs the shuffle, and most would agree.
Diaz, Jota, Salah, Bobby, Darwin. There’s a case to replace one. But all would be madness. The Prem this season is now all about getting fourth, and looking at the cups. Also getting Elliot, Carvalho, Curtis more playing time.
Sections of the fanbase already are.
I do honestly think the toll of holding back the sovereign wealth fund hoarde has become too much to bear.
Guarantee noone else will mount a comparable resistance. Useless cunts.
Just remember not to push it back in and then lick your finger.
they pressed us because we had no quality on the ball .
actually blame those who didnt replace him
With his own money? The owners are in for a shock if they think they can get away without spending and fans expect Klopp to magic up results and performances.
Yes exactly, last season, teams would tire down during the second half and allow us to get on top of them. But this season, it’s a bit different. Our lads tire down quickly despite running less. But imo, this has nothing to do with not wanting to give the maximum. They aren’t able to because they are overplayed or carry knocks and have no back-ups to replace them because of all the injuries.
Generally agree, but Thiago is obviously quality. Hendo will be transitioned into the role Milner has been playing. Which leaves the big question about Fabinho. Is this poor form? Is it an injury? Have we broken him? Does the shape just not suit him anymore?
The performance was summed up by Alisson quick releasing to Elliott, Elliott runs to the half way line turns around and plays it to a group of 4 Liverpool players.
Not getting at any of them but that was the game pretty much.
i know ill get pelters for this- but im probably at the point of saying id rather see bajcetic get a shot over fabinho, rather see carvalho get a shot over Milner in the last five (no, not a right back), that type of thing…
its not suggesting liverpool football club turns into an auction house…its a shift in expectations…lose to leeds with Bactetic, Carvahlo and even a morton earning thier stripes is alot more palatable than watching Fabinho amble around the pitch for 70 odd then get replaced by henderson and see klopp complaining about fatigue.
maybe some noises from the top about being comfortable with rebuilding instead of expecting some miracle high pressure run to fourth in 2023…
dunno…i know its not simple, i know theres grey…but it FEELS like its become a drag…
as Jurgen said…lets get the weight out of that backpack…use it for inspiration, but dont carry it around.
giving VVD a rest isnt as far fetched as it sounds
We’ve got issues. For sure.
tried to explain it in a reply to Mascot above.
not talking a FM wipe out…but a reseting of objectives
All the signs of a disorganised, disjointed, disinterested, disfigured, disfunctional team.
I’ve never seen Fabinho as the amazing defensive midfielder fans believed he was. He has always struggled when players run at him gets skipped past too easily and has no recovery pace.
Whatever.
