I don’t know why you are choosing January as the cut off here, but Quansah got 1290 minutes all comps across 25 games. For contrast Gomez got 874 minutes across 17 games.
I think it’s more a case of the Konate Van Dijk partnership looking really solid, and Slot’s job is to win the league, not give Quansah developmental minutes.
@Walshy07
I don’t always agree with your in game analysis.
But this appraisal is spot on. It’s not near good enough for Liverpool. We don’t have a divine right to win things, but we do have expectations as a massive club.
What we are seeing at the moment is a pale imitation.
Not sure if this is all on Slot, but something needs to change radically. And very soon.
9 years Salah has been playing for Liverpool but the officials seem to think it is open season to rugby tackle him in the box and are happy to deny him a penalty, had he been playing for Manure or Shitty he would have had 100 penalties. I am one of the suspects moaning about how we get screwed over and over again but I would like to ask @GermanRed why Guehi didn’t get a red today?
I’m not one to condone the often inexplicable actions of the officials but the Salah call is correct; the player pulled him back with contact starting and ending outside the box thus no pen and it would have really been a stretch to call that a goal scoring opportunity with a covering defender coming across.
For their ‘goal’, Szoboszlai pulls back Haaland and gets ahead of him and Haaland then pulls him back for the ball to go in. Two wrongs don’t cancel each other out and you can’t play advantage and then foul someone after getting the advantage so the play was rightly called back to the original infringement which was Szoboszlai’s which was a denial of a goal scoring opportunity.
There are a number of players not pulling their weight in this team, which has been an ongoing theme all season, Slot is allowing them to get away with murder…when that option is taken away from him we go unbeaten in 12.
We effectively defend with 8.5 players, our midfield is having to cover both wide and central areas, no one knows who’s supposed to be where and ultimately it just looks like a team that’s coached by amateurs.
Meh he has been a bit shite this season, but it shows how good klopp was…he was after Andre before he left…hes going down with wolves , think he was quoted for about 20 million when klopp was interested…get him for about £15 million…
Main concern for me based on the part of the game I saw, was going from pushing and getting the first goal, I thought we looked decent at that point, to a complete flip in personality, where we invited pressure, sat too deep and were far too passive. And then completely falling apart.
I don’t want to point the finger because, I’ve absolutely no idea where I’d say “that’s the problem, fix that.”
One obvious cause must be the substandard conditioning. We got tired and dropped off, while Slot waited until the 84th minute to bring Jones on. The damage was already done by then.
It’s no wonder that we’re conceding so many last-minute goals either.
Salah is so far off the boil now it’s difficult to judge what constitutes a goal-scoring opportunity for him personally but I know one thing - we’ve seen him bury shots from that distance time and time again over the years. He would have had the time to get the shot off before he was closed down.
To say it wasn’t DOGSO was fucking nonsense imo.
Absolutely agree with you here. He was through on goal. It was on his right foot though but if refs are considering that then City shouldn’t have had a penalty either.
There hasn’t been much discussion on the penalty call where Silva pulled Mo. I think that was as clear of a penalty as it gets, mo was getting onto a goal scoring opportunity and he was clearly obstructed with pulling Mos shoulder. No diving included whatsoever.
Or he could have fluffed a touch, or tried to get it back on his left as we have also seen countless times. It’s a subjective decision, that one, and the ref got it right I feel. The defender is coming across rapidly and in my honest opinion would have covered enough distance for the call to be subjective.
I think there was another incident that Salah was at the corner of the 6 yard box, and he got pulled by the shoulder. Salah fell down with the forward momentum.
Whether Salah in his current form would have scored is immaterial. DOGSO decisions don’t take into account the ability of a player. The ref shouldn’t be thinking that’s Haaland so he probably scores or that’s Joe Gomez so I’m not giving it. It is just whether a goal scoring chance has been denied.
