Well, the balance thing was a reply to a comment about balanced criticism.
Agree with pretty much everything you just said.
In the end, I think it comes down to that I trust Klopp and if he thinks he should play and believes he can come good, thatās good enough for me.
Completely agree with this post
January 1st - 2024
Stephen Warnock asked if Pep avoids buying certain players due to AFCON and Asia Cup. Warnock goes on to say Liverpool (and other teams) buy certain players also due to commercial reasons, but Shitty ābuy to win trophiesā.
If he wants to go down that route (which tbf does come into the equation when you take all things into account), maybe he should extend his critical thinking abilities to think why Shitty donāt need commercial revenueā¦ā¦.
I agree with you that he gets a raw deal compared to other players, and some of the comments in the match threads about him are often OTT. Some tonight were embarrassing to say the least. The fact that heās always so involved in games, whereas the other forwards all often drift in and out of games weirdly works against him at times as well.
Itās understandable that people can get frustrated at the sheer volume of chances missed. I donāt think it helps him how calamitous they look at times, nor does the constant running offside. Even so, heās still an absolute fixture in my starting eleven for the remainder of the season.
Iām still on the Darwin Nunez bus. He is a very important part of the group.
Should he score more? Of course! So letās concede the main criticism at the outset. He misses too many chances. It needs to improve.
And what about the upside?
He still scores and assists, and we see a return there. He occupies defenders too. Klopp was at pains to point this out. Botman and Schar were both put through the ringer trying to stop him, and it made more space for the others, and it also made it much better for the subs to come on, as they were now up against defenders who had been run ragged.
Iām backing Nunez to add more goals. Dubravka made some great saves today and on another day Nunez scores at least a couple, but it just wasnāt falling for him.
So while we wait on the goals to flow a bit more readily - and it is a legitimate criticism - his work as a striker is of great benefit to the team, and of great benefit to the subs who come on.
I like Warnock as a pundit, he was also at Cov with my brother and he always spoke well of him but the last couple of months to a year has started coming out with stupid comments.
It would be interesting to know if he backed up his comments with examples. The only person I can think of that we have signed that could be portrayed as a commercial signing is Minamino.
I think your last sentence is the most likely
When he took over:
āEddie Howe says he had no hesitation or misgivings about taking the Newcastle United managerās job despite the controversy over the identity of their Saudi Arabian owners and their motives for buying the club a year ago.ā
Well it is not a true quote unless Eddie Howe is speaking in a 3rd persons perspective.
I am not defending Eddie Howe in the slightest but what else is he supposed to say? If the Premier League has no issue about the identity of their owners, why should EH?
Unfortunately, the whole world is full of hypocrites and as it is said, money talks. @Worgan if a company offered you a job, with a good salary, that would potentially secure your families welfare for life, would you reject it on the basis that their morales are not quite in line with yours and not been held to account by numerous countries?
Happy with 4-2,happy to be clear at the top.Awkward game but we got there.
Like Moās mentality, missed the pen early doors then roared back in the second half.
The Jones boy, and Endo put in great shifts,Jones is looking like a class act, and Endo settling in quite nicely, seeing why he was brought in.
I only realised Salah missed a pen just now, must have been when I went to get a drink and I didnāt see any replay of it.
Good post.
Curtis has followed up on his performances from the end of last season and the U21ās Euroās successās to the current season. I appreciate that it is easy to get carried away as a fan, but I genuinely believe that Curtis has all the attributes to be a great player.
Regarding Endo, it is a shame that at a time where he has started to look settled and in rhythm with the team, he will be unavailable.
However, in general, as a fan, things are very positive
Hahahaā¦wut?
Changed boots? Brave for taking the second penalty chatter? You missed all that?
I have it on mute and listen to music.
So thatās probably why I missed all that, I even didnāt see it on the read at half time.
Well that checks out.
There are too many people filming themselves watching football.
