Post Match: Liverpool v Newcastle (EPL 1/1/24 8pm)

Jones was sensational, his work out of possession was exemplary and he was brave in possession. Endo too, boy has he come on leaps and bounds.
Not too happy about the 2nd peno. Not sure why he went down or why it took so long to go down. For me there wasn’t enough contact to bring him down. But we’re owed some decisions and have no sympathy for Newcastle or that knob Howe.

Out of interest what music do you listen to?

Personally, I hate watching a game without commentary. Even if the commentators need punching.

Because the contact wasn’t enough to immediately bundle him to the ground. But it was enough to disrupt him enough so that he ends up on the floor a couple of steps later.

Try running at speed and having someone just clip your trailing leg.

I don’t believe that Diogo Jota is falling down to win a pen when he could just roll the ball into an empty net. He would be swapping a 100% chance of a goal, for an 80% chance of a goal, and trusting that to a lad who has already missed one. Not a chance he goes down unless he is taken down.

Left for work, confident, at 3-1. What the dickens happened?

Thought we played well just couldn’t score.
VDD with a repêat of his complacent error. A team has 1 striker. Attack down the left Konaté goes over, he has to, VDD must pick up the striker and at least slow him down FFS school boy error of zonal marking!!! Wake up!!!

its also not even remotely suprising we recieved a ‘favorable’ decision when we were pretty good for the win anyways…

shock. horror.

‘it all evens itself out over the season’

You know I am equally obsessed with 3-0s but VVD is prone to errors leading to opposition goals.

Eddie Howe has no right complain about decisions when he ended the game with eleven players. Joelinton worked his usual voodoo whereby he committed about five yellow card tackles before finally getting one, at which point he was immediately withdrawn.

I’m with Mascot on the penalty. There’s no way that Jota would go down with an open goal in front of him unless he had to.
Surely as he was one on one with the goalie it should have been a red. Wasn’t it a dogso?

Genuine attempt to play the ball + penalty awarded = no red card.

Ah, ok. Not up on the dogso rules

Different though the players seem to enjoy Fleetwood Mac in the second half.

Paramore saw me through the Burnley game.

Just watched the extended highlights and was expecting to see a tonne of sitters for Nunez - maybe they left them off the package but… I saw a flashshot from a cute reverse pass by Salah in the first half which he just tried to make some contact with and was saved. Then I saw a change down the right onbthe run which he hit pretty well but was saved. I wouldn’t classify either of them as particularly wasy chances though.

Hey, I was in DC Thursday and Friday!

Probably should have put the free header on target to be honest

Anyhow 18 more PL wins this season….

I actually was quite surprised that the ‘is the PL fixed’ thread hasn’t been bumped up to the top after that. I think if it hasn’t been 3 points I am sure it would have been.

Utter shite from the ref. How the ref can decide the yellow could be skipped just because he gave us advantage, how he can give a free kick to that blatant dive in the NCU penalty box when Nunez went within 2 metres off him, and the numerous absolutely random calls against our attackers, particularly Salah. What’s more was Sky refusing to show any replays when we got any decision against us. Then Tyler and that sidekick cunt whoever he is suggesting our offside goal was clear as day and their offside goal was extremely tight even though ours was closer… It all adds to just that whiff that everything is stitched up like a WWE match.

As for the actual game, I thought we played well, didn’t quite have the finishing touch and although I thought their keeper made a number of saves, I thought many we hit straight at him. He didn’t make too many diving saves from what I can recall.

For me, Jones, Salah ( if he was less selfish like Jota and actually played it to DJ when he should have on one of our last attacks he would have been my motm) and Jota are my 3,2,1. I just want to say, if there is any forward I trust the most to make the very best decision in a match it is Diogo, by a mile.

No, someone says you can’t pin that on Virg it is all Konate’s fault
