Post match: Liverpool v Newcastle (EPL 24/4/21 12.30pm)

Even when we were good I always thought our finishing was wasteful. Bobby, Mane, Mo are not players you’d put your house on converting an easy chance. Never have been. Mo’s finish today for his goal was world class but I never once thought he’d score when he was put clean through.

Back then it didn’t matter so much because we’d always find a way but this team is devoid of any confidence and belief. Unrecognisable from just over 12 months ago. The drop-off is staggering and alarming. I’m sure having fans back will make some difference but it’s not going to be a magic bullet.

This game had sucker punch written all over it even in the first half. It just became obvious we weren’t going to get a second and they threatened to get in behind us again and again. Suicidally high line. Looked like we’d got away with it with the disallowed goal but it was the long high ball into the box that undid us. Couldn’t understand why Newcastle didn’t do that sooner as we have no aerial presence at all without Phillips.

At this stage I just can’t wait for the season to end. It’s been a total clusterfuck on the pitch and off from everyone at the club from the owners down.

I know, I have no idea what the players are thinking or are not concentrating to wind the clock down slowly. I suppose Newcastle are still fighting relegation, so they had abit more fight in them than our boys.

Salah is quality it’s fine there. Jota was poor but understandable. Sadio has been poor the whole season and is coming on 30. He can only get worse as he ages. I liked Bobby today tbf but I do think he is being to be finished as a starter. If Jota kicks on to his pre injury form and Sadio was still in form he would have been benched long before now imo

I was looking that up and he is at 2.8 billion estimated by Forbes I think. Still thats what his business interests were worth now they are only worth 700 million I think he’s been accumulating a pension fund to the deficit of his businesses.

When we were at the top late last yr and started free falling down… I mentioned that our biggest problem was our forwards not scoring goals. And not scoring that extra insurance goal. And given we have our world class fearsome trio still fit. We should of been able to do that.

I was criticized by some here saying our injuries in midfield and defense and out of form fullbacks were the problem. Not the front line.

Well I hope now that we are fighting to stay in Europa League. Some would realize that the front 3 has been the biggest let down this season.

Jotas early hot streak hid the fact how poor our usual forward line has been. Even Salah who leads us in scoring needs a ton of chances to score 1 goal.

While it’s been the one season. I think it’s a sign that the Firmino Salah and mane trio may have run their course and need to be dismantled.
There is the possibility that the same trio bounce back next season. But it’s too risky imo to hope they do. After such a disappointing and confidence shattering season.

Good thing I didn’t wake up early to watch this live. Massive break after the disallowed goal for Wilson, and then you would’ve thought 3pts for sure. Just when you get ready to turn off the tele, shit breaks out… Unbelievable…
We have plenty of moments to put this one in the bag yet for whatever reason we can’t finish. The boys had a lot of the ball and they had moments where they could’ve killed the game. When you leave the other team hanging around, this is what happens especially we are not full of confidence as a team at the moment.
Jota on any other day would’ve gift wrap the game for us, but he’s off form today and nothing went right for him. Mo by in large was good, but could’ve done better on that 1v1. Mane and Bobby were poor, really poor. Bobby is just not same player anymore, it sad to see how far he’s has fallen😰. I am hoping with a good summer of rest he can come back strong and rejuvenate for next season. Mane is ice cold and have no confidence. He had so many chances to score today. On his days, we would’ve bagged a hat trick already. I hope it isn’t age that is catching up to him, but more of him just fatigue. He has played a lot of football, and I’m hoping with a good summer of rest he can come back in form for next year too like bobby. However, if someone came in with an offer I would sell Mane or/and Bobby too.
The back 4 was ok today, but played too high of a line late in the game when you know newcastle was gonna pump every ball over the top. Fab and Kabak doesn’t have tremendous speed, and Fab is not really good with 1v1 . There were too many chances where the ball gets played behind our def line because our midfield couldn’t protect our backline. I think if Fab was playing there, it would’ve been different. I don’t understand why Davies doesn’t get a look, you buy him but you don’t play him? Surely he can’t do worst then Phillips.
Honestly, we don’t deserve to be in too 4, and if we don’t get it I really want to see West Ham get it. They worked hard all season to be in this position. I suppose we’ll be in Europa league next season, but I rather see them not okay in that and play less games . The boys looks jaded from their unrelenting pursuit of all the trophies we’ve won the last 3yrs. I think it might be blessing in disguise if they play less and have more time to train together.
Anyhow it ain’t over, 5 games to go let’s see what happens.

He’s great on twitter. Seems to be a top guy.

If he wasn’t so fragile I’d love him here.

I have mixed feeling about this

He definitely caught my eye today, I think Klopp can mold him into a better player. He really reminds me of a young and hungry Mane when he was at Southampton.

An absolute horror-show, that game. To be fair, the whole season has been a horror-show, from one end to the other.

Still five games to go, and not looking forward to them at all. I only wish this all to end.

Bingo, I’m massively disappointed in a few… We had 7 of our “1st” 11 out andd still capitulated… Not for the first time this season either.

Oh wow, that’s a great message. Respect.

Without the revenues of CL, and without the appeal of the competition for potential new signings, you can forget that level of investment.

On the contrary, if we don’t qualify for next season’s CL, it will be a transitional summer, during which the club will keep the powder dry, because no top level player will want to join us. That’s the simple reality, and we have to be aware of this.

Does anyone have a clip of that Fabinho bodycheck?

A lot of calls for major changes, especially for the likes of Mane, etc. but I think the problem lies with our squad players more than our first team players. The others are contributing nil right now, especially in these tiring times.

I would rather have Mane and Bobby here, than the likes of Origi and Ox next season. We would still be in the same boat if we just replace a Mane with a Halaand as he’ll be run down the ground as not one player can be trusted to do even part of the first team players job.

Missed the game today, only saw Mo goal on here . I did predict a1-1. That’s the top 4 dream gone.

No mixed feelings at all as far as I’m concerned. This was an offer from the Middle East, and given the insane amount offered, it was probably a consortium from Saudi Arabia.

So, for me it’s very clear: I prefer fsg by far and away to any dirty money built on slavery, especially coming from Saudi Arabia.
