Fabio and Nunez both start for me at Everton, no doubt about it.
Nunez to start and hopefully Coady helps us do a number on Everton.
Yeah whoever that is needs to be fined and banned from the touch line for a match.
The other option is to push a guy like Matip as a DM. He canāt be slower than Fabinho can he
Matip is deceptively quickā¦far quicker than Fab.
Iād go on to say heās our 2nd quickest after Diaz.
And fuckā¦ He probably carries the ball better than fabinho
Gomez is quicker I think still. Letās not get the attackers in though.
Probably consider it when Konate is around but itās risky to ask him to step up, if you need 20-30 mins though Iād be for it. Like them to use Firmino for that as well with Jota and Nunez back.
Itās a tool, and is really only applicable when they have the ball. Most time wasting occurs in other areas and also help to break up the momentum of the game. The yellows are important, but need to be allied to forcing teams to play on when a player goes down and being extra diligent about adding time on for stoppages youāre not able to prevent. The ref today seemed to do ok at the latter, although id question why only 5 mins in the first place. He did a shitty job of the former though.
The ref not only doesnt have to stop the game because a player is injured, but he should not unless there is genuine concern for his safety. The emphasis is supposed to be on keeping the game going as much as possible. Even if we take it all in good faith (it wasnt), cramp should not prevent a team pushing the game from restarting, anymore than simply being out of breath and unable to get back into a defensive position should. The game should restart and go around him if needed. This is even more true in this situation given how many subs Newcastle still had on. They made only 3 in total and didnt use their 3rd until 5 mins before the end. They had the same players going down over and over again, and even if you give them some grace, on the second occasion he should have told Howe that he either brings fit players on or the players who are physically suffering who he has elected to leave on will not have the game stopped for them the next time they need to go down.
We got no other options. Even if you sign two new players immediately , they wonāt be playing against Everton and Napoli.
You donāt have to worry about Hendo playing on Saturday he is injured hamstring
Oh dearā¦oh dearā¦points deductedā¦ban the benchā¦thatās from him indoorsā¦
Weāve got a fair few. Iād rather have one DM than two anyhow and if thatās the case then options exist.
There needs to be temporary time outs for anyone whoās faking an injuryā¦ Along with a Card ofcourseā¦
Obviously I wasnāt being entirely serious. Of course yellows are important but itās also important that you get the time added on and so few refs do that. I do have some sympathy with refs when players go down āinjuredā. Easy for us to say they should be booked but the refs not really in a position to say whether itās genuine or not. Itās difficult. Marriner made sure we got the time we needed to score the winner and thatās good enough for me. Also, in the aftermath, everyone is talking about Newcastle gamesmanship and how it might have cost them. That would hardly have been mentioned had they got the draw. The focus would have been on our performance and how well Newcastle had done.
He was injured should have left the pitch earlier
Starting Nunez at Everton will be like throwing him to the wolves. With their shit house tactics it will test him to the limit and I donāt want to risk losing him to injury or stupidity.
If Matip is fit he plays at CH and Gomez alongside Fabinho
Managed to get myself in trouble with the wife after speaking to her āabruptlyā at the end of the game. Should know better than to try and explain trivial things to me in the 96th minute of a match weāre drawing though !
I got in trouble because she wanted to chat after game had finished, but I had to ask her to stop so I could hear what Klopp was going to say about the time wasting
