Post match: Liverpool v Notts Forest (EPL 22/4/23 3pm)

Didn’t watch it, but given we’re at the point in the season where the bottom teams start showing the fighting qualities that if they’d shown them season they’d be nowhere near the bottom, I’ll happily take 3 points.
Try and decipher that.

Thing is, all the teams above us will encounter the same.

“useless”

The captain who’s led us to every major trophy? That captain? Save those kinds of takes for Twitter.

You’ve literally explained in the last sentence why he was brought in by Klopp, so I’m not sure how it can be described as a “huge mistake”. Klopp can’t simply make a player as good as Thiago play well from the sidelines - it was a logical sub. It was unusual to see him misplace so many passes.

Probably the most ridiculous post I’ve read for a long time and I hope Hendo speaks English better than you can write.

First half went as I expected - frustrating.

Second half did not - nervy.

Forest on the counter serve as a reminder that we’re still too easy to play through and only reinforces the need for changes. I’m pretty convinced Hendo and Fab both need to move on this season, as wonderful as they’ve been for us.

As for the defence… I don’t think Konate played “badly”, contrary to what people are saying. He’s looked the most steady of our defenders the past few games (bar the Leeds mistake). It’s the organisation that looks amiss to me - the goals were sloppy and down to players not being in the right place. Maybe that’s partially on Virgil, as it’s his role to make sure they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing, but given Robbo is also covering centre back at the moment as a secondary consequence of Trent’s new role, maybe it’s easier to outnumber us than previously.

That all aside, I thought we looked much more dangerous on the attack than we have much of the season, and did a decent job at breaking down a stubborn Forest defence. So that’s a positive. Jots is well and truly back! And well done Mo on catching God on all time goals. Great achievement.

I think Hendo sometimes, is just a victim of his own enthusiasm, and eagerness to shoulder every once of responsibility that goes with being a captain. We have to also take into account, there will be additional pressure on him in every game from now on, that we give top 4 the best shot we can, even at this late stage of the season… For all we know, at the back of his mind, if we don’t qualify for the CL, Hendo may well have played his last game in the competition already.
Can only think of Alisson taking over the role at some future juncture. In the meantime, I for one, have no intention of adding criticism to the lad, no matter how many mistakes his tired legs and mind are dragging him through each game.

Wish my Eid was a little less stressful. Appreciate the blessing nevertheless. Onwards and upwards.

They didnt really hurt us on the counter though. Their first goal kind of looks like it, but it was more a case of us not responding to the ball being back in play. Fab was awful on it, picking 0 of the 2 defensive options he could have taken (either front the forward so he couldnt receive the long throw down the line, or defend the lay off). He did neither and watched the forest players run off him creating a 3 on 2.

Have a great Eid al-Fitr!

They didn’t score on the counter, but we looked very shaky when they repeatedly came back at us in the last 15 mins or so.

Secondary danger to their shithouse throw in specialist obviously

3 points from Europa!

Didn’t watch the game but from the fluctuating scoreline I could sense that all was not going to plan, as per our Jekyll and Hyde season.

Full Marks to @LuisSuarez - He dragged 3points over the line for us.!
Bit slow with posting his lifelong memories from today though eh :0)

Good point . Did he manage to catch the train

Nice little Eid Mubarak gift from LFC

Despite his recent barren spell, Jota had always looked a class player. Really pleased that he’s hitting the target now.

I feel the opposite, that often if he is not scoring he is struggling to justify his place in the team compared to the other options. But not today. He was far more impactful and involved than Mo and Gapko, and even Nunez when he came on.

Does anyone know his whereabouts at the moment…or is he still in Liverpool.

Probably top 5 worst posts I’ve ever read between here and TIA. Embarrassing.

He has always carried that class but for long spells during games it can feel like he’s nowhere to be seen.

Against Leeds, he was giving everything away and then 2nd half sprung into life.

Same kinda happened today although he wasn’t seeing the ball much first half, then 2nd half realised he was actually playing.
