B/4 the game, I wondered briefly if Slot would model the game around preserving the 1-goal lead from the first leg, as many, many managers would do.
I can only say I’m glad we do not have that kinda manager…
Disappointed to be out, but the game, injuries aside, also showed weaknesses in the squad.
This summer recruitment needs to be absolutely right…

The bigger the gap we create for ourselves, the more things get taken for granted. “Ok the league’s been wrapped up for weeks, what else can we win in the meantime?” In a way we’ve become victims of our own success. Something like this would never transpire had we only been 2-3 points clear as all the focus would be on the nail biting run-in…instead people’s mindsets are already on next season and which fancy players we can entice.

The other thing that got me riled was the owner and technical director of PSG talking to VVD in the tunnel, I thought about our technical director not renewing his contract last summer was a big mistake and the last thing we need is the player being disrupted at this crucial point of the season!

It wasn’t his explosiveness that was an issue, his crossing and passing was poor.
However, I would have Mendes as a LB in a heartbeat, fast and physical and also good on the ball
I was worried the same and for me we were the better team in the 90 minutes, I just wished we had gone for in extra time, rather than dropping back into a low block.
We ran out of gas in extra time…

We had 4 fresher players on in midfield and up top so we should have been ok, but for me we just seemed mentally scared to commit and dropped too deep
Its a team sport…The collective ran out of gas and not all 4 subs could press effectively. Gakpo was unfit…
