Post match: Liverpool v PSG (UCL 11/3/25 8pm)

We need to improve the quality of our bench players. I think in the end it told, especially in the 2hf of ET
We had nothing left

Best team we’ve played in years. We more than matched them tonight though, which makes it more gutting.

I thought Trent was outstanding and his injury came at the worst possible time.

Pouring another Tuesday night whiskey :tumbler_glass: :disappointed:

The last thing we needed was penalties… Alisson has never been a great penalty saver. Donnarunna is.
I would have felt more confident with Kelleher in a shootout.
We needed changes but i believe Jota, Szoboszlai and mac allister would of been better penalty takers.

I’m ok with a double this season.

Probably doesn’t help when two players went off injured and he doesn’t seem to trust Chiesa.

Frankly the squad is fine but it needs improving we are missing our back up centre back and right back and who goes down injured? Our right back and Centre back.

Once Trent went off, they were clearly the better side. We had been building consistent pressure up to that point. Overall, PSG deserved to go through in what was a brutally tight pair of games. The visitors in both matches had to endure a lot of pressure (LFC more than PSG, really), and on balance I think they provided a lot more threat tonight than we did last week.

Other than the odious ownership, they are an interesting side to watch. Dembele in particular has really come into his own, having spent a few years looking like he was never going to realize his potential in a team built around bigger names.

Exactly. Shades of that Atletico tie five years ago. Huge energy going into winning the league and perhaps then not enough to give in a really tricky early knock out tie.

If we need a massive rebuild then god knows the size of the job at other PL teams. Because all I’m hearing is that we’re just lucky they’re all so crap otherwise we wouldn’t be romping the league.

Yup we all said the same, and you could see fans in stadium looking down when he stepped up. As you say, it’s sad.

There was huge energy went into that match! We just came up against a very good team. Were lucky in first leg and unlucky tonight

Well that was an annoying result but can’t say psg didn’t deserve it, they played fantastically. Easily the best opposition we’ve faced this year.

No point shitting on anyone over the result, as a collective we didn’t do enough

Yup we played well tonight and showed we weren’t the team of last week in my view.

Anyhow that break is coming at the right time.

Should we have brough on our lucky penalty keeper, Kelleher?

He does have a knack of saving them

The camera panned to Arne and he looked really nervous as well

Did cross my mind.

I do find that a bit sad mind however he is much better than Alisson at pens.

Let’s not forget that Slot is using the squad from last year and he clearly doesn’t rate/trust all players. If he can bring in three/four guys in the summer it would mean we can have some extra rotation, especially in midfield. Then I fancy us to go even deeper in CL next year.

Onwards and upward
