One of those games we could have played all fucking night and not scored.
Some great performances out there, Alisson, Konate, Trent, Szoboslai, McAllister all outstanding.
As for the attack, fuck me, that was woeful. Nothing came off for Salah and Diaz, Jota is starting to worry me greatly and Nunez and Gakpo were just about the most ineffective subs Iāve ever seen. Iāll assume Gakpo is nowhere near fit but Nunez has no excuse at all for that fucking display. Slot obviously doesnāt fancy Chiesa at all.
Hope Konate is just cramp and is ok for the weekend.
Gutted to go out like this. 2 piss poor penalties after 120 minutes and down two players. Itās fair to say that if we had all the luck a week ago, we didnāt have any now. Not a single coin toss went our way. Quansahās header, Kvaratschelia instinctively blocking Salahās goal-bound shot, nothing went in our favour. Even their goal; while it was poor on our part it had an element of luck in it.
If thereās something that bothered me tonight is Slot. Not that he made some grave tactical error, or that we didnāt play well, but his refusal to use the bench players cost us. We needed lots of energy and intensity to win this one and he finished the normal time with essentially one sub, and that was a belated one as well. You could tell as the game wore on that our levels were dropping faster than PSGās. If he had refreshed the team sooner, we might have avoided the extra time. Endo, Elliott, Jones and Chiesa should have come on a lot sooner. Gapko coming on with one training session under his belt, and doing absolutely nothing, was just wrong. Also, Slot must have been the only person in Anfield that thought that Nunez and Jones as penalty takers was a good idea. This was probably the first time that I felt we missed Klopp. I donāt think we lose this one with him on the touchline.
Anyway, whatās done is done, letās hope that TAA doesnāt have anything serious because his injury looked awkward.
Well done to PSG for going through, deservedly so over the 2 legsā¦a side Iāve held in disdain for a while but I actually thought they played both games in good spirits and showed their classā¦Luis Enrique after the game was very complimentary and Iāll be temporarilty cheering them on from the sidelines until the final at least (Villa, Arsenal and the Madrid sides can all get to fuck).
We were the better side in normal time, them in ET. Felt we couldāve managed the game a little better personnel wise so we werenāt left with bringing on so many players that see very little game time to get us through. Bringing off Diaz, Szobo and Mac, then Trent and Ibou to injuries, we really had no chance then. We saw the difference on the other side when they can bring on Lee, Doue, Ramos and Zaire Emery. Simply put, we just met a exceptional side on an incredible run of form and proved to be a step too far. Onto the 3rd of the 3 finals on Sunday, today will be quickly forgotten about with a different result there.
He did ok offensively, but too be honest he is our 4th choice RB, so with injuries as they are, the most important thing is for him to be solid defensively, which he was.
Their prick of a captain was waving a PSG flag around in the centre-circle at full-time.
I hope he breaks his fucking leg in the next match and they go out asap.
